Shouldn't Haiden Deegan or Chance Hymas in the list? Is there a difference between their situations and Ryder D's?

They didn't score enough points.

The list is based off of scoring enough points…

I say it every year that the national numbers come out. !st reginal points should not count towards a National #, 2nd no holding numbers, 3rd no more permanent numbers. I miss the days when you earned your number each year. Now get off my lawn. LOL

Ryder DiFrancesco raced five nationals and scored 67 points.

Haiden Deegan racer two nationals and scored 16 points.

Chance Hymas raced only one national and scored 11 points.

Hardy Munoz scored 30 points and received #99. Hymas or Deegan would've had to score 30 or more points to get a national number in 2023.

I'm not sure what is more silly, a rider deciding to skip #13 or an actual organization letting people skip #13 but no other number.

I agree also, this holding numbers for retired riders is a joke.

It would be too complicated, but they should let "next man up" take it. If Thrasher didn't want it, then offer to Mosiman. If he doesn't want it, offer to Brown, etc.

I agree. Guys like Reed and Hill shouldn't have their numbers held indefinitely if they aren't racing.

But I'm fine with Osborne getting one extra year (if he requests it) to hold his number. But if Osborne doesn't race in 2023, then he shouldn't get to keep it any longer.

Osborne just got waxed by 50 year old Mike Brown and a half drunk and out of shape Ryan Villopoto. Anyone who honestly believes that Osborne will race next season needs to wake up from that dream 🤣

That’s a terrible idea cause it would become a guy who should be number 58 being 13. Lots of riders would not pick it given the chance and it would shuffle down the list

One of the last people to run 13 was paralyzed with it and the date was the 13th. Riders are a superstitious bunch of people I don’t think anyone’s jumping for the number

I'm ok with AC and Nichols getting to keep their permanent numbers, because they were hurt all season. But once a rider announces they're retired, they shouldn't be eligible to keep it past the one year mark.

I'm absolutely fine with everything this year 250 riders getting points, retired riders keeping their number, FIM riders getting a number....I'm for all of it and and happy that the stars aligned and Filty got freakin 69!!! That is awesome!!!

*Disclaimer* I'm only for all of that this year for the reason above....Tongue

Jesse Nelson
Colt has run 13 I think 2 times. And both years were bad.
I'm formula 1 when they used to allocate the numbers they used to skip 13 also.

The whole 13 thing is stupid, and it's not just limited to moto.

Chad said he wanted to try and make a main at 40 so that would be next year.. so I can see why he asked to keep it.

I came to say this. I think it's bs that the guy who gets 13 basically gets the choice to bump the guy who would have had 99 off the 2 digit list. This could be a big deal to that guy as it should be.

Yeah, he was #13 in 2020. He raced 5 times and got 3 podiums.

Some other 13's:

Ricky Johnson in 1990
Sebastian Tortelli in 2001. Finished 10th in points.
Heath Voss from 2005-2010.
Blake Wharton in 2013 (now that's some juju!). He had 5 SX podiums.

Its right up there with dropping a new helmet when you first get it. Some guys thing its dumb and some guys do it every time. Its all a mind game and whatever works for you.

Giving Cairoli #65 is a waste. The guy has used #222 his entire career!
