The federal government transports adult detainees in its custody from one facility to another, or from one U.S. city to another during deportation proceedings.

The vast majority of people on the flights are unaccompanied minors who crossed the border, requested asylum under immigration law, and are being released from federal custody to a parent or sponsor.

Some of these flights happen at night, but they are not covert operations. The same types of flights were done by the Trump administration.

Below from NYPost article.
This is similar to when HHS, under the Trump administration, housed almost 1,000 migrant children in Westchester — without the County’s prior knowledge or approval,” spokeswoman Catherine Cioffi said in a written statement.

“Then, as opposed to now, there was no outcry

Federal officials say these flights happen at all hours of day and night, and that they don't release details about the passengers on purpose to protect their privacy. Even the contractor operating the charter flights hasn't changed since the Trump administration, they note.

The number of unaccompanied children crossing the border has surged before, under former Presidents Obama and Trump. But the number soared even higher in 2021, topping 100,000 in a year for the first time.

Immigrant advocates say the amount of fear-mongering about unaccompanied children is rising, too.

"That's really just divorced from reality and from facts," said Nagda. The treatment of unaccompanied migrant children from Central America is governed by a federal law known as the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, which passed with strong bipartisan support and was signed into law by George W. Bush in 2008.

It’s HHS and ICE doing their jobs the same way they have been doing it for years.

These organizations have political actors in charge of them and they have seeded political motivated operatives down to the field offices.

It’s foolish to claim that they are doing their jobs the way they’ve always done them.

It’s called the deep state for a reason.

I haven't heard this whole dealeo reported in detail by any source I completely believe but these things make me scratch my chin...

All the folks sent north had turned themselves in at the border and completed paperwork for asylum. They were waiting for immagration hearings. So NOT illegals.

Desantis used Florida money to send Texas immagrants north.

Everyone boarding the planes was promised jobs and housing but lied to about the destination.

No one was informed that by leaving the point of entry they would incur difficulty proceeding with their asylum claims.

I'm gonna guess there are ambulance chasers lining up 10 deep to get this case.

It’s easy to justify these types of things when you don’t really recognize them as people……

There are also "people" with American citizenship that live and work in the cities and towns of Texas who are bearing the burden. Do their neighborhoods and livelihoods not matter? Are DeSantis' actions insensitive but Biden's not?

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Shouldn’t this be an issue governed by State governments? Those States who want to accept the benefits and burdens of illegal immigration, political asylum seekers, etc., should do so. The States whose citizens vote against it should not.

Someone who gets it.

'Sanctuary States' are just that . Those that arent. arent.

As we see time and again with Democrats, its easy to support something when it has no effect on your lives, they should ship them all there until the place is full to bursting.

Or of course, now that the precedence has been set, by calling in the National Guard to remove them, instantly, maybe Texas should just do the same.

Of course , if you could have had a president that had taken border security seriously, maybe have built a wall or something, that would have been great.

If only.

Hey guys, MV is recognized as a sanctuary city. Whats the point in doing that if you wont take a few immigrants?

southern communities are being over run with thousands of immigrants today; bidens administration has been sending immigrants all over the country already...

so again, whats the problem with sending 50 people to a sanctuary city, among one of the nicest places in the country, and more than enough wealth to care for them?

..... all the while they sit in their ivory towers and call people racist for saying there is a crisis at the border and their communities are being over run; they deny that there is even a border crisis for Christ's sake.

I am for this move 110%, no better place to send them. If you are recognized as a sanctuary city, you should be required to take in immigrants flooding across the border.

sanctuary city = check
safe beautiful area = check
ungodly amount of wealth/resources = check
virtue signalling about the need to take care of immigrants = check
calling people racist for saying they are struggling with the shear volume of immigrants = check
empty mansions and seasonal rentals capable of housing people = check

these 50 people hit the lottery of places to be sent... until they kicked them out.

So far, in these stunts of migrants being trafficked to various locations, I've been seeing much more of the places and the surrounding areas trying to help the migrants as best as they can than the hypocrisy being claimed by those performing the stunts.

Not great optics for the stunt-people if you ask me; which you didn't, so feel free to ignore me.

desantis is a nazi for sending them somewhere where they can be better taken care of?

As far as I can tell, the "outrage" is regarding the use of human beings for political stunts; not their existence in the immediate vicinity.

The emergency is because this is being done with little to no planning in place. I don't know about DeSantis being a Nazi. He just seems like a bit of a fool and a prick from what I've seen of him.

again, biden has been doing this to certain places with no coordination as well(along with not testing or vaccinating them during a "pandemic"). they are a sanctuary site, why are they not ready for migrants?.... a whole 50 of them? towns in the south are taking in thousands per week and in some instances per day.

as far as i can tell, the left just wants to paint desantis as a nazi.

also, this administration claims there is no crisis as the south suffers.

there should literally be no outrage for this, 50 migrants is no emergency...

the real political stunt is denying the crisis exists, and calling people racist for saying it is a crisis and something needs to be done.

They were sent to a city that has vowed to take them in and in most cases they have been set up in luxury hotels ,like in NYC. The alternative is stuff them in to the cages that Obama built for them.

Construction of the border wall was a major policy of the Trump administration and became a hot political issue between Republicans and Democrats. When Joe Biden took over the White House earlier this year, he halted construction of the wall.

The Finish the Wall Act, or H.R. 2729, was introduced by Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) in April. A ranking member of the U.S. House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Border Security, Rep. Higgins introduced the act which would require the Biden administration to resume construction of the border wall system.

Under President Trump’s administration, 458 miles of border wall system were completed with hundreds of additional miles fully funded but not yet constructed.

However, an executive order signed by Biden on Jan. 20, immediately halted all construction on the border wall system.

All of which is brought to you by the very same “compassionate sanctuary signalers” that seem to absolutely lose their shit when these “undocumented” people show up in their towns…their “sanctimonious sanctuary cities”.

This shit is sooooo NIMBY.

These people are not “undocumented”. They were in the process of having their requests for asylum adjudicated.

The people of Martha’s Vineyard seem to have reacted in a very humane manner. People who have no virtue may often be confused when they see people who actually do, I suppose. They don’t understand that it is a value that some try to live by.

90+% of asylum cases are denied.

So in a few years, once their asylum hearing is finally ready to be put before a judge, do you really think they will show up to the hearing knowing they have almost 100% chance of being deported?

Those millions of people will be living in our country illegally, they are never going back. And it is illegal, not "undocumented".

And the people of Martha's Vineyard reacted in a "very humane manner"???

They declared it a "crisis" and called the National Guard. And then had them moved off the island (to a Military base) within 24 hours hours.

Sounds very caring and humane to me.... They must be loaded with virtue- and hypocrisy.

You should set up a campground in your apple orchards and put up a sign that says "come live here for free" so you can do your part in the saving of the "undocumented".

Ah, yes, the world of hear-say and virtue signaling….

All of which is brought to you by the very same “compassionate sanctuary signalers” that seem to absolutely lose their shit when these “undocumented” people show up in their towns…their “sanctimonious sanctuary cities”.

This shit is sooooo NIMBY.

He’d probably give them illegal work.

I can’t find the most recent number, but it seems the success rate is much better than that.
Focusing just on the most recent quarter (July — September 2021), asylum seekers success rate climbed to 49 percent, up even over the 44 percent success rate at the end of the Obama administration.

98% of asylum seekers attended their court date, asylum seekers USA statistics reveal.
There is some misinformation that many of the denials in the courts are caused by the fact that the immigrant is not there to make their court date.
But that’s clearly not the case, as out of the 42,224 cases held by asylum judges in 2018, approximately 41,000 saw the immigrant present in court. Simply put, the numbers do not suggest a sizeable enough number of absent asylum seekers to make up the high rate of denial.
During the first six months of fiscal year 2022, 8,494 asylum applications were approved by judges, while 9,738 were denied, Justice Department figures show.

No matter how "passive-aggressive" the attempt...your post lacks honesty, intellect & integrity.

Here, let me try a more honest and direct approach...

You may need to look-up how you and yours have renamed Illegal Aliens as "undocumented". Thus, that point was something between an outright lie or poorly veiled attempt at feigned ignorance...on your part.

As you sit there and run your angry little fingers about "virtue"...

You seem to forget the Arizona, Texas and to a lesser extent...California & New Mexico "border communities" that have had...

2.2 MILLION PEOPLE DUMPED ON THEM THIS FISCAL YEAR. (FY '22...and it ain't OVER, YET!!!)

Which, my friend, seems to point out that you lack ANY compassion and, therefore, "virtue" when it comes to their dilemma.

FURTHERMORE, You are apparently trying to hide from the facts....

Since Biden's entered office: 3.8 MILLION ILLEGAL ENTRIES (Oh, sorry, "Migrant Encounters" to you).
THAT DEOSN'T INCLUDE THE 900K+ "GOTAWAYS"...
(FY 21/22...and that's FY '22 'to date'...the numbers aren't done for the year...)

And...you call them ALL "Asylum Seekers"?
Seriously?
Have YOU HEARD THEIR OWN WORDS IN LIVE INTERVIEWS???

Then there's this...

They've caught SEVENTY FOUR "Migrants" ON THE TERRORIST WATCH LIST !!!
(FY '22...again, the year ain't over...yet)

The worst part about your virtue signaling...

"The Birder is Secure"...you're in-league with those liars, too. They're of the same Virtue Signaling Lying that you are...

If any of this seems mean, harsh or too direct? You brought it here.

You are the one that starts out claiming that others don't care or aren't virtuous or inhumane.

All the while...

You support policies that have made these numbers IN-HUMANE.

Next-up: FUCKING FENTANYL. Fuck! have you COUNTED THE DEATHS...?
Where the hell is The Virtue IN THAT?!

Again, Trump had four years. If it was such a priority for him why didn't he get it done?
