Suspension will carry over, clamps, wheels…

Not sure on pegs, they changed the stock mount a little.

Ive seen this picture on the left shared 1000 times on social media with people saying “look how narrow they made it”. Real picture is on the right. People are so gullible. Isnt it just 15mm or so different?

One person with a fish eye lens got everyone fooled.

Aren't those 2 different model years? The access cover is different between the 2 bikes. Confused here.
Nope, that’s the same bike.

How Michael? They look like 2 completely different covers. I have no doubt you know what you're talking about, but it seems completely different.

The only thing I am not real fond of in terms of the aesthetic of the new bike is in the area where the airbox cover transitions to the shrouds. It looks a little incomplete as is, but I'll give it a pass simply because I assume it's done that way to satisfy function over form. If the fender doesn't keep dirt off my goggles, then it's too short. Otherwise it's fine. The front number plate is a little different than the previous bike, but what about it looks bad? Folks get so wound up about the dumbest shit 🤷‍♂️

doesn't matter what they changed, first time you try take the spark plug out or do anything under the tank, you'll be wishing you bought something...

Couple tank bolts and a quick disconnect, right? Same as removing the tank on any other bike if I recall.

Is there still 30 bolts holding the plastic on? My 2019 has 10 for the rear fender alone Grinning

I'm willing to bet that front fender is no more than about an inch shorter, not like motard fender or anything. And if you don't like it, mount up one of the older ones, they are what $20?

The new front fender is great. Much better than that horrible shovel nosed looking fender on the current model. If I had a current model I would mount the new fender on it.

That’s what happens when you give customers what they want. Who was asking for a harsher KTM?

Well... my guess would be the teams, given how much they were gusseting the old chassis. Doesn't seem like the right mark was hit, though.

Ehh the 2018 Yamaha is a good bike, still everyone was calling it a blue pig.

That's just it. The fisheye lens is so heavy in the initial pic, that it distorts the seat panel so much, that it makes look totally different. But it is the same bike. If you go on Yamaha's site and gallery for that bike, you can see top views and it matches the 2nd pic in the post. No other YZFs had the D-ring integrated into the seat panel either. Its previously been just a flap that you lift up from the bottom (previous 2 generations.)

I had a similar debate w some friends about this on FB. They thought the same thing, so I get the confusion. But the fisheye pic is very misleading and kind of silly to even post, in my opinion.

ML, can you use exhaust from 2022 model or silencer? Are new footpeg mounts with same screw mounted so you could use then with older models like yz250f and get better ergos?

For me, it's been the Star team. The bikes look great on the weekend, then you hear all the adverts and stuff during the week with Pulp and it really gets you interested. I wouldn't have considered them if they weren't doing so well in the races. Albeit I went with Kawi as that is what the local dealer sells (and gives good prices on).

it’s thinned up, but the design team is likely younger and grew up in a period when everything from jet skis to cars had adopted a beefier look, plastic and materials wise. personally I’d like to see sharper angles and a more “race forward” look. I don’t think that translates over there. thankfully Honda and Kawasaki still advance the look of their bike designs in that more traditional style, but in the end it’s a great looking bike, and I’m sure it’s going to keep winning championships in 2023.

The swing arm also looks very similar to the 22 and previous years. Any word yet on if that's the same?

That’s honestly kind of crazy. Will Yamaha even have the required number of bikes in the US to be able to race SX in January?

This is normal for when they first are listed. It will be updated usually mid October or November. Maybe a little later with an all new bike platform.

The homologation target dates are Mar 1 and Jun 1 (for half and total qty), not January.
