Motorcycles are dangerous = it's totally cool to be directly hit by another rider in an aggressive context.

Got it.

I watched Rex race, he was aggressive as hell but he wasn’t a takeout tool like JB. And if JB was to meet Rex on the track, Rex would make a sniveling bitch out of JB, on the track or in the pits.
Or, throwing fists on the track! Remember that?

Yep, I remember that. And I can’t imagine JB having the backbone to stand up like that, he’s a guy that’ll run or ride away. Then cry about it.

Off track antics are not the story here. I agree, Rex would've popped JBs head like a pimple. Nobody f**ked with ol Rex.

On track.....racing for position...heart.... that's what matters.

Career ended early by rogue rider with a history of injuring riders on purpose. Negligence by parties that still allow and support said rider to participate. Better call Saul.

I can't believe what I read on a "core" MX board these days. I grieve for this sport if this mentality is it's future.

Dude you are a walking, talking meme at this point. Surprised you didn’t use the term pussification

“Magoofan” I think your idea of Mx racing is pretty old school and archaic. You know like leather helmets for football or no helmets for hockey. I guess you’re happy to see racers retire at 22 with all sorts of lingering injuries. You are right though, rubbing is racing, you know side by side mixing it up but there is absolutely no need for perpendicular take outs aimed at the legs. What you just saw was an incredible outdoor season with 2 amazing talented riders who raced clean all season. Even the 250 kids have been pretty clean. That’s the future, stop living in the 70s. This should be a premier sport not an off shoot of fairground smash up derby.

These guys are all professionals at their sport they should know by now how to pass Barcia you have to put him on the ground not give him a chance to come back at you he will never learn! Way past due for self-policing with the other Riders!

I will say that the way Eli and Chase race each other is textbook on how it should be done.

Omg…you are fucking dumb!! Why? Because the body of evidence is beyond enormous that bambam does it on purpose! If you race and watched that video then you KNOW if you gun it after being pushed wide there then you will hit the guy in the next corner. Anyone saying it just happened too fast must have never raced. I know what will happen if I pin it there….you can sure as hell bet barcia knew…and did it on purpose. God …some people are so fucking stupid! It’s was a 100% on purpose take out. barcia has a hell of a lot more control over his bike then any of us….and I would have/could have avoided that contact. He’s not incompetent….he’s a fucking cheap rider….

Hehe…lol…

No…I’m just tired of people defending cheap riders like they have as much control over their bikes as a novice at the local track. Listen…I’m not a barcia fan…at all…but he is a top 10 rider in the series and probably top 20 in the world. These guys do amazing things on their bikes and when people say something couldn’t be avoided that I know I could avoid?? Well…they are trying to excuse cheap riding. I think it is bad for the sport on many levels…but in this case? Dylan has the speed of Chase and Eli when he is healthy. Can you imagine if it had been a three way battle that close? Now that is good for the sport. In outdoors barcia just gets in their way so if I want one guy in and one guy out? It’s bambam out…. That’s all aside from hurting someone from an INTENTIONAL take out is fucking dumb and cheap.

Now…I have to go make Dyly’s Mac-and-cheese so he can watch his cartoons….

Everyone accepts the risk when they swing a leg over a bike. Racing shit happens...

Keep riding that lynch-mob bandwagon.

Nope. Don't like seeing anyone injured. ...and contrary to your comment, we're seeing riders racing much longer these days, despite the greater speeds, tougher obstacles and more powerful bikes.

However....we're seeing far worse injuries due to above mentioned speeds/obstacles and more powerful bikes. Everyone conveniently overlooks the track designs ( mostly in SX).... talk about being accepting of dangerous antics. The aerial gymnastics are injuring far more riders than the "Barcia" pariah.

I'll take the 70s/80s any day. Free of all the social media lynch mobs.

Premier sport? More like "niche sport" that is slowly dying off as people are priced out of it and regulations keep tightening.

Progress? You can keep your start blocks, starting line grates, holeshot devices, launch control, traction control and soon ebikes that you don't even have to shift. It's like "Ludacris mode" on a Tesla....now any idiot can push a button and go fast. True skill of riding a bike is being lost to "app mode".

MGfan, I consider myself fairly old school and agree with a lot of your sentiments. Should Barcia or anyone really, race hard and fight for position? Hell yes, and no one on here with half a brain would argue that. However the fact being debated, that I think you’re overlooking is exactly HOW Barcia has done it. Fight for position yes, but don’t purposely endanger the other riders. Kid has a track record and it ain’t good.

Sounds like you are advocating for "Roller Ball" racing. Just slam into people, whip the bike into them over a jump (Barcia's already done that), just go straight into people. Maybe there will be added points on how many riders you can take out during a race.

I'm going to tell a litte story here that I haven't told the general public. I'm telling it now because of your handle "Magoofan". I was right behind him at CMC Goldenstate race at Saddleback- maybe 1979 or '80. It was the first lap so I wasn't behind him for long. He pulled away pretty quickly, but anyway we were on the inside of left hand turn that went slighty downhill and a rider fell on the outside as you exited the turn. Chandler change his line and swung wide and ran him over in a what I considered intentional. There was no reason to go out wide from the position we were in.

Barcia is the easy "scapegoat" for peoples focus. When he's gone, it'll be someone else.

Cool history that you were able to race with one of the greats. Cool That sure doesn't sound like something Magoo would have done intentionally....it doesn't fit his personality (not that I ever knew him personally).
This is a racing sport where occasional contact is unavoidable for multiple reasons. That's why it's generally accepted by riders and fans, and has been for decades. That doesn't make it a "contact sport" where intentional, dangerous, contact can be used to intentionally eliminate another racer. These are racers, not fucking gladiators. By your logic, basketball players shouldn't get fouls called on them for clotheslining each other's heads off.
This is a racing sport and allows room for aggressive racing and trading some paint. It's the racing that people like, and the speed of these racers that is appreciated. There has to be limits, especially with intentional contact. There is no lynch mob after Barcia. His history of intentionally torpedoing competitors is long and undeniable. So is the damage to other riders. As if that weren't enough, the dude has made it clear that it's just who he is and he makes no apologies. In other words "I'm gonna keep doing it".
There's nothing "pussy" about wanting to keep that kind of shit under control, keep it about racing, and not add more risk to riders because of knuckleheads out there intentionally torpedoing people. I say Barcia needs to be handled and this type of shit we've seen from him is unacceptable. Maybe that makes me a "pussy"! Nah. I stand behind my position on this matter. If Justin Barcia walked by me and elbowed me as he passed by, he would definitely miss some rounds due to injury. He squawked about a little bump from Tomac in 2020. Give me a break .Fuck that idiot. He needs to be handled.

I appreciate the respectful response. Cool

In this case, from the video of the Ferrandis altercation, I just don't see Barcia at fault. Not saying he's not controversial either.

In the end people see what they want to see.

I hear you about riding with heart, and JB does have that. The guy obviously loves to ride. He loses me when he throws the little bitch tantrum take out garbage, usually far from the front of the pack and way to often without any cause. He might have just cost Ferrandis years of his career, and JB has no “benefit of the doubt” left, he spent his credibility on too many slimy/dirty moves.

It’s possible to be an aggressive rider with heart and not be a tool. Look at the two guys that just had the most competitive season ever, they both handed JB his ass and treated their competitors respectfully.

Racing is better without Barcia or his like in the mix. Replay the 2022 outdoor season if you don’t believe me.

JMO..

Right, the only guy in the pits that has a meltdown if you pass him even remotely aggressively but it’s the other guys who are the problem.
