If true, it’s Honda’s biggest fuck up since RC.

It's ment to be for 2024.
It makes sense if Honda want to keep the golden Jett and have hunter as his team mate.
Then you have goat farm shut down it was not for herlings. Tomac retires in 23 so they need a rider for 24. Maybe it was sexton trying out or webb back.
2024
Hunter to Honda 450
Sexton to ktm
Webb to Yamaha
Tomac retires.

Honda would be complete morons to let Sexton go. With Eli gone next Summer that is at least 1 title guaranteed. Keep the Lawrence Brothers and Sexton, and let Karen Roczen go bitch and moan somewhere else. I'd hope they learned their lesson with ditching RC....

If I’m Honda I’m keeping Sexton over Hunter..
If they lose Jett because they are a package deal then that’s ok.. Sexton has to be the favourite for outdoors next year, shit he just might get it done this year!

Have you watched how dominant Eli and Chase have been over the field? If Chase stays healthy through SX, who is gonna challenge him outdoors? Maybe Anderson or Dylan if they stay healthy...and thats a big maybe. #3 and #23 are on a way different level than there competition this year and it's not even debatable.

i struggle to believe this one....just cause honda have been without a big boy class championship for how long? Since RC. Now they have a guy with such a promising future as sexton..and they let ktm steal him? they can't be that dumb...

Where does 9 fit into the list of fastest riders out there? I wouldn't count him out yet.

RC was because they were trying to hold money back to latch onto the next big thing which was Stewart. They kept jerking RC around and he kind of had to make a decision because the next season was coming up quick. They seem to have been following the mantra of better to trade a guy a year too early than a year too late. If the Sexton thing is true it is about a year earlier than RC made his decision. It could be Honda didn't take him seriously thinking there was no way he would sign a '24 contract this early.

KTM probably thinks Webb is close to retirement. Musquin is just about done. AP doesn't look like a title contender. They need someone who can win races in 2024, and I doubt they had any luck trying to get Jett. KTM probably threw a bunch of money at Sexton and Honda didn't think it was serious or they are trying to save cash for Jett.

RC retired at 27. Webb will be 27 before '23 supercross and he is the youngest of the title contenders other than Sexton. Most of the top 10 are pushing 30. Even most of the recent 250 champions (other than Jett) are in their mid 20s. There will be a lot of 450 rides opening up over the next 2 years.

MC left because he didnt like the aluminum frame on the 97 Cr250. That was his choice. They straight up let RC go because of his knee injury. Biggest mistake in Motocross history.

To Ktm?
It always appeared to me that contracts aren’t signed until contract year in this sport.

ML, I know this particular story is probably bs, but do riders sign contracts with different manufacturers this early with a year remaining? Even the et3 talk didn’t really start until Supercross 21.

If he comes back at full speed, and that's a big IF, he's right there at the top. He and Chase are the most technically proficient riders in the series. But then he gets injured again and doesn't finish another season....

Same thing was said about Ferrandis last year. Who could possibly challenge him? He's back now and fits nicely into the pack. This sport is so gingerly balanced on Health, Fitness, ability, equipment, and confidence that nothing is guaranteed.

Well... lets look at next year... where Honda has Jett on a 450...

with Jett, they really don't need Sexton or K-Roc... So i can see how Honda would see it as "we've got it covered next year with Jett, but he is gonna cost us a TON!"....

KTM would have to buy out Sexton's contract... so a Big Load of cash from KTM.... which they aren't especially known for now days...

Cooksey is going hard in the paint again.... from what I've seen, he's probably right about 30 percent of the time... so it's possible that Sexton lands on KTM... but doubtful... we'll see!

I could see where KTM is hungry for a top rider and willing to write the check.

As far as HRC loosing Sexton it would be a major mistake IMO, they screwed up and let to many championships slip away with other top riders going elsewhere, i.e. McGrath, RC and Tomac).

Jett doesn't have 450 race experience and it normally take a season or two to get experience plus he may not have same results against the top 450 guys as 250 class.

Agreed, it’d be suicide for them to release Chase.

This season so far is not only the closest championship points, but the closest HRC has been for an outdoor title in how long now? Since Tomac was with them?

Dylan and Anderson are the same age as Eli and will likely be leaving contention along with him.

Honda is all in on Jet and Hunter, they use them in all the promos and dominate social media, while Sexton is hardly ever mentioned.

Meanwhile KTM has: Dungey, AP, Cairoli, Webb, Musquin, even Reed all in or around their 450 class. however all those guys will be gone by 2024, that will leave a lot of room in their budget for Sexton.

Do you think the Jett and Hunter pull the "package deal" card when its time to go 450?

I think Honda plans on leaving Hunter in 250 for another season. So does Honda Make room for him on the 450 for 2024 and then say goodbye to chase? Hunter is a great rider but not sexton great.

Hunter is riding the 250 class for another 2 years.
