Seems a lot of people weren’t aware of this rule until LL22. I joked about someone filing a claim against Phil Nicoletti’s bike if he raced amateur day at Millville this year, and my friends looked at me like I was retarded and had never heard of such a thing.

So, now that almost everyone knows about this rule, how many of you would claim a bike?

Edit: The amount is less at a normal amateur race than it is a National event. It’s only MSRP +30%.

If I had the money and a kid In The right class I would consider it

Of the kid was good and may be in line for one of the big team rides then it wouldn’t be a good look

I would because of one of 2 outcomes:

Someone brought something to a race with more money than they care to lose,

Or

Some kid with a clapped out barely modded bike just made bank on a sell. If you put $3-$4k tops into a $6000 bike… would you race its guts out then give it up for $17-$19k?

Even with the list price of my CRF, plus loan interest and tax, and the $3k in most unnecessary shit I’ve put on it I’d still come out.

The way I see it: there’s many who will profit with minor inconvenience, there’s very few it will actually hurt.

I'm about to head to So Cal and claim some Vet Dudes bike that has the whole KTM Powerparts Catalog installed on it.

A few of you that post here got some sick bikes, I'd be a little nervous if I were you. Tongue

It’s just going to be thread after thread of this story huh? Some of us just want it to stop so we can focus on the last three rounds of the nationals. A pro sport, not some ammy circus.

Nah.
Even stock bikes' capabilities vastly exceed my own as a rider.

Abso-fucking-lutely Then Id part the thing out on eBay.

Cheaters never prosper. Lets get Amateurs back in Amateur racing. Id also protest a race if I suspected a big bore running in my class. We can suspend people over gas, over Adderall - Maybe its time the Kids be taught correctly.

A winning claimant is randomly picked from all claimants

I think the folks who followed the sport in the early 2000s remember the Mike Alessi claim.

No, my dumb ass wouldn't claim a bike because I would not think about it and would pay full retail - like $43k for a KX250 at Pro Circuit.

Lol pro circuit took down the Ryder D bike ad, who claimed it?
Btw if your on the team green program, doesnt that get you 50% off at Pro Circuit? I heard keefer say thats the deal for his son. Does uncle Mitch cut $20,000 off the price for the FAM or what?
