So true. I have a '19 and after riding my friends '18 for a lap, I knew his chassis was more forgiving.

First ride tonight on the 23. The nice thing is I got to compare the bike against my fully mod 22 Husky 350 with a big bore. The 23 has much better throttle response and bottom end power. Even the mid might be a good bit stronger. I also have a 450 and to me this is much closer to the 450 then I expected. All and all very happy with the bike.
Really got the better low/mid? Didn’t like my 18 for that reason.

Yep... TahoeVet is correct about the motor more low/mid.

I own a 23, came off of a modded 2020 FC350. Vortex, pipe, airbox, gearing. New 23 has more motor.

I don’t have cone valves but put the 6500 kit in and had it revalved by REP. I’m coming off a Yamaha so don’t have any other KTM to compare too but I love mine. Very stable in breaking bumps and seems to corner just fine for my ability.
Mark knows his shit- his 6500 inserts are fantastic.

Tried 45 spring today and went up from 10.5 to 11.4 in the fork and the fork felt way better in the choppy stuff.
Shock felt still a bit nervus for a trax shock so I got to work on that.

I got 35/105 with gear on the 45 spring.

Interesting to overlay previous generation bike to the 2023+ platforms. Would be very curious to see a 2022 with the same comp piston as the new bikes dyno'd in the same room. The newfound torque and hp appear to come at the expense of some over-rev (note the 11,400 vs 12,300 rpm peaks), and the overall cleanliness of the curve isn't quite there as in prior years. Any new owners confirm or deny these figures with seat of the pants sensations?

Apologies: Couldn't find 22' vs. 23' KTM to KTM or Husky to Husky to visually compare...

I can only go by feel and have not had previous KTM’s but the power down low is incredible. It revs out really well. I am interested to see what a Vortex ECU would do to the power. So far I have 5hrs on mine and love it.

just changed the oil in my 21… can you guys confirm that this new motor in the 23 doesn’t have the drain bolt with magnet facing to the rear right into the frame crossmember. Everything on a KTM seems so well thought out except for the stupid drain bolt… 🤦‍♂️

I can confirm. Have to use a crows foot to torque it because even a shallow depth socket and ratchet won’t fit in there.

Never will understand KTM logic. Hey guys super easy to change your air filter, but watch what we do on your oil drain bolt. Still pisses me off when I change oil. Then there’s our 85 with the drain bolt on the brake side behind the brake pedal? Seriously the guy that decides KTM drain bolt placements has got to be on meth.

I'm coming off a 2017 KTM 350, and I had a funky gearing to get a little more snap down low (13/49 - stock = 14/50).

I can feel the increased torque on my '23, it is close to the geared down 350 but I'm not losing the top end speed, which is awesome for me. I can still lug the bike but it revs better.

This curve confirms what I feel on the track...I had described what I felt as maybe the mapping isn't as crisp as my old bike...but this makes sense. I originally wanted to ride it a bit more through the fall and possibly get a remap to make it a bit more crisp and reduce engine braking.

I do not think the stock ECU’s can be remapped. Hopefully I’m wrong. Can anyone confirm?

I called Twisted Development and if I remember correctly KTM locked their ECU’s in 2020. Hopefully I’m wrong and got bad information.

Those torque numbers are not what I would have expected given some of the feedback I have read so far on the stronger bottom-end motor characteristics.

I know guys are saying the motor is stronger. But based on those results, I would assume maybe 10-15%? Or maybe the perceivable improvement is quite a bit a more than the numbers would lead one to believe?

I am still struggling with making a potential upgrade from my '18 FC350 to the '23 350 SXF. To me being 6'4 and 240-250lbs in gear, the claimed improvement in bottom-end is enticing for me. Will be interesting to hear more rider feedback as guys get more time on the bike.

‘20 or ‘21 and up are locked. That usually means no one has figured out how to break the oem encryption yet.

240 lb guy here. As I mentioned I have a lower gearing on my '17 because I wanted a little more snap and luggability in 2nd/3rd gears.

The new bike mimics that snap and luggability very closely but I can rev it further. On my '17 I was shifting to 4th some times especially when the track dried out later in the day.

I'm still riding stock spring/valving but I've had a couple of big cases and managed to ride away, my old bike has a Ktech SSF coil spring conversion and I really liked it however I'm going to stick with air on this bike and see how it goes. I think it's a worthwhile upgrade of a bike compared to the 2016 - 2018 generation.

Thanks for the comments. I also a run different gearing, in my case a 13/50. I have been experimenting.

I am also on the stock air forks right now. I have been hesitant to upgrade them, since I am on the fence on upgrading bikes. My understanding is that none of the spring conversions will transfer from AER48's to the newer forks. I would likely go MX-Tech Lucky's.

How do you feel about the new chassis? Comments state that the chassis is more rigid and less forgiving then the 16-18 models (at least with the Husqvarna's anyways). Any opinions? I realize it might be tough to say for sure given the chassis is likely not broken in yet.

I get I am a smaller "Vet" rider 58 years old, 5' 6", 160 lbs, and I have raced 450's at Glen Helen, and 250's at RedBud. This bike in it's current (stock) state, is so fun, it has relit the fire in me to go have fun. I am going to do a few races this year, but I need more time, before I can realistically line up.
At the track I rode this weekend, was the first real comparison I could do in regards to my 2019 CRF250 Geico bike. The best part for me was the ability to roll on more throttle in areas, where prior I was clicking gears... Once I get this down, and get the suspension broken in, I will consider a Factory Connection upgrade. One of my very best friend's works for WP in Murrieta. I will most likely follow his advice on what I should do when the time comes. I hope everyone is enjoying what they ride, as much as I am, and not worry too much about how to make an imperfect item, perfect. THERE IS NO SUCH THING.... Let er rip, Tater Chip! Just go have fun.

Same here, almost... 62 years old, 182 pounds. 2023 350 is a blast! Just shy of 3 hours on the bike, all track riding. 105 rear sag 35mm free sag, it's dialed. I'm shifting way less than I had to on my 2020 FC350, and that motor had some mods.

Each hour of break in, brings more comfort. I'm actually gonna wait till I do any drop in spring conversion, I have the KYB kit. The AER is settling in, and working just fine once I figured what settings work for me.

As I get more time on it, I'll give more feedback.

I just got off the phone with ENZO. Previous drop in spring kits will work with the new 23 AER. I'm speaking mostly of my KYB cartridge I had on my 2020 FC350.

Love my '23 so far, coming off 450's for the past 15+ years so the motor feels great.

Just posted an FMF slip-on that I impulse bought at the dealer when I picked up my '23. Love the pipe but going to get a Yosh instead. In case anyone has been looking for one.

Dude,
I would be all over this, but I just dropped $1500.00 on my Hyperstrada. Truth be told, an exhaust for me at this point would be like putting breast implants, on a 90 year old Stripper. It's not gonna help me enough. Woohoo

I spoke with Twisted and XPR about remapping the current Vortex out of the 21 350 I had. Both said they do not have any mapping just yet but should shortly. My 23 350 still isn't here yet and neither is the full Akrapovic Evo system.

Just posted an FMF slip-on that I impulse bought at the dealer when I picked up my '23. Love the pipe but going to get a Yosh instead. In case anyone has been looking for one.
