Deagan's a dirtbag, and dirtbags always do what's in their own best interest, regardless of whether it's just or fair.

It’s weird to me that Haiden has all this drama around him but Hailie just kind of cruises along with no drama racing cars. Is moto the problem? Or does Brian feel like a big fish in moto vs a little fish in car racing?

I have followed all 3 of the top series in NASCAR for decades. Hailie is Danica 2.0. She brought Monster money and the BS social media to the Truck series, but has produced nothing on track. Not sure if it's her inflated ego, but her comments about NASCAR in general show her to be more about image than anything else.
I’ll defer to you on this cause I don’t know shit about it, just an assumption on my end I guess

There are plenty of the drivers that dislike her for her driving habits, she’s aggressive. She gets a pass from a lot of people because she’s a woman, but she is a pretty damn good driver. Not sure she will make millions racing NASCAR, but she’s done pretty well so far and has a big following. Then again some drivers don’t respect her or take her serious and I don’t dig that either. She’s had several run-ins with a few of them and isn’t afraid to race hard. But this has also caused her a few DNF’s from being out into the wall.

So would you say there’s a similar amount of Deegan “drama” that follows Hailie around? Or is it mostly just about the racing

Car racing has a bigger following and more than 3-4 guys get continued coverage in the press. Harden is the “next up” so I’m sure he gets more scrutiny. I know Hallie is getting coverage but don’t follow close enough to know. Is she a potential future super star or more of a novelty like Danica?
Novelty.

I could name 50 sprint car guys that could drive circles around her, she is only there because she's marketable.

Judging by their YouTube content she cant avoid drama. And without it there wouldn’t be much to talk about.

I can’t say really, I don’t watch YouTube or know anyone in the nascar world. I have just heard some of my buddies that are into it and know I am into moto that have told me about the drivers and also watch the races and announcers have chimed in a few times about various situations.

I don’t have anything against the Deegan family and am not jumping on any bandwagon hate clubs on here. Brian use to irritate me with his Mulisha BS attitude and didn’t carry himself well, IMO.
But he seems to be a good father and has changed his ways as far as I can tell.

Brian has changed his ways alright. Went from hating on "the man" to being "the man", and his attitude now is "its good to be the king". Ironic how he has gone the total opposite of what put him on the map in the first place. As I put in another thread, the saddest part is Deegan doesn't even realize how hypocritical his behavior is based on what got him to where he is. Personally, I think he needs to stop being the moto-mini dad to Haiden. And Haiden needs to drop the whole Dangerboy schtick and start focusing on being a "professional" racer.

Wow that Weege piece was very candid. Seems like some transparency is coming. I’m hopeful there is the right amount of accountability and not a “cancel everyone “ approach.

Yeah sure. Brian stepping away idea would be great.

Signed,
Izzy’s dad, Stroupe’s parents, and every other moto dad that regrets letting their son fall under the complete supervision of the very treacherous moto industry.

If the accusations are true, I’ll agree Brian is a fraud and really fucked up. But in no way should he step away from his KID this early. There’s way too many pitfalls still to come that DAD needs to be there to protect him from. And as good of an environment as Star is, I still wouldn’t recommend Brian step aside and let them finish raising his boy.

What has he or anyone else "cancelled" in the past? This media hate is BS. If everyone was Daniel Blair or DMXS, yes, but it is not that way anymore IMO

Countless number of riders have let their parents back away from the racing day to day and been perfectly fine in their careers. He doesn't have to stop being his dad completely, you took that way out of context and used other racers that had plenty of other problems in their lives. He needs to stop being "moto-mini dad". There's a difference. Good grief.

I like Weege and glad he's talking about things being screwed up, now hopefully his boss will listen and start making changes. First up, fire Cotter.

I will say it sounded like Yamaha is trying to get their ducks in a row before they make a statement. Where there's smoke there's fire.

It's easy for Bobby Regan to say he was ok with it and only didn't want vendor names getting disclosed, he didn't lose the bike or motor so no one will ever know if that's the truth.

Also, Weege, go find that loudmouth Matt Walker and ask him why Brennan is no longer training at MotoX Compound.

Good start, Weege.

Comments from those involved = plausible deniability. Get some lower level guys to make sure the bike stays without telling them directly what to do.

We all need to stick together and stop giving free passes to the AMA, MXSports and everyone else involved in this mess.

Bringing up SX global only shows why you keep trying to downplay this whole debacle. Maybe your concerns with them would be better served in the numerous SX Global threads.

Plenty have come out fine, but it’s a crap shoot.

From what I’ve seen personally, most do not make it out fine. The USA amateur moto scene produces a LOT of talent. Very little of it makes it thru to reach their potential in the 450 class. The reason is the 250 ranks is really young impressionable kids surrounded by a ton of people that have no business being around kids.

So for that reason I dont fault any moto dad for gripping tightly. And I know for a fact that Star appreciates having Brian closely involved. Most teams do not want the parents so involved - and I get that perspective also.

Weege going that far is a testament to how Ef'd up things are right now.

Its also interesting in DC's column on Claimgate that DC in his write up only stood up for Cotter and the other AMA official for "not bullying" Brennan. Said nothing about Deegan, just stated that Cotter and Burkeen didn't do it. The omission of leaving Deegan out of the discussion is very telling.

Seems like DC/MXsports is trying to distance themselves from this very carefully.

Sounds like Star is trying to distance themselves from this very carefully.

Will be interesting to see what Yamaha does on the matter.

Not arguing with you at all, genuine question. Why did Deegan care? It is not his bike, it's Stars. It's like Sextons Dad worrying about Honda having to get rid of an HRC bike.

Exactly. Why would Deegan care and why would he make the statement to Brennan about "trying to defame" the Deegan's?

I go back to a post in another thread about this.

What if Deegan had laughed this off with Brennan, told the kid "touche' for knowing the rule book and coming up with the cash" and said, "enjoy the bike". Then went and got a photo with him, and plastered the funny and cool response all over social media? Everyone would be giving Deegan all kinds of props for being so cool about it.

But alas he's been a douche so it seems. Seemed pretty reactive and uptight, almost like he's guilty of something.

If there was nothing to worry about, why worry? Again, it wasn't his bike, it wasn't his money. The only thing I could think of was the transmission rule Mav posted earlier in another thread where HDeegan could have been stripped of this title for it. But otherwise, why care? Why would Deegan go all "defame" mode?

He's acting guilty as fuck about something. Its telling.

I can see only two reasons why Deegan would care so much:
1- The bike had cheater parts.
2- Brian Deegan’s a dickhead.
I can’t imagine Star risking that for an amateur title so…..

Thats an excellent point about his initial reaction, he could have (should have?) gone in the direction you illustrated. That would have been pretty cool. But he didnt. He went into "protection mode" because frankly it surprised him and wasn't expecting it. Brennen said Brian even indicated he didnt know about the rule. I could give a shit about Deegan, just another lunatic mini bike dad. They were around when I was racing in the 1970s. My disgust is for people like cotter, DC, the ama guy who should come forward and make a statement on what occurred in that "meeting" and maybe star yamaha, and yamaha usa. Its a pathetic situation.

Despite the MxSports hate, I actually think they may be cleaner in this than originally thought.

Cotter may or may not have leaned on the kid with Brian. That’s 100% possible and if so, unacceptable.

From there on out, MxSports did have the motor tagged and taped and bike guarded 24/7 until the kid came back. Unless someone from MxSports was coordinating the intimidation plan behind the scenes, I’m not sure how they could have been involved overtly with someone else involving Yamaha and it spiraling from there.

They (even if it was begrudgingly) take the bike in and secure it. Time passes and someone who doesn’t work for MxSports gets Yamaha corporate involved, and here we are.

Again, not giving MxSports a pass at all here, just listing some sterile facts amongst themselves. While they made missteps, they weren’t the one violating antitrust laws.

Countless number of riders have let their parents back away from the racing day to day and been perfectly fine in their careers. He doesn't have to stop being his dad completely, you took that way out of context and used other racers that had plenty of other problems in their lives. He needs to stop being "moto-mini dad". There's a difference. Good grief.
As soon as Haiden turns pro, he doesn’t need ‘dad’ at the races anymore.

He’ll need ‘dad’ at home, for sure.

But ‘dad’ doesn’t belong in a professional environment.

Edit: this by no way means that Brian shouldn’t attend the races. It just means that he’s not there to ‘dad’ him, like he would be away from the workplace.
