That's an understatement; DC comes off pretty one-sided since he completely glosses over almost everything that Schofield said.

I found Schofield very believable, with no reason to create some elaborate lie over the whole situation, whereas MX Sports has little credibility (to me anyway).

The kid says he even told Cotter that it was NOT his own idea to rescind the claim and that he was being forced. What a load of shit for Cotter to turn around and tell Weigandt "the kid said he was not pressured."

Even Weigandt is caught in the crosshairs on this one, he's a journalist for Racer X and spread false information on the biggest radio show due to him not doing proper research.
The line gets very thin here. In the moment the kid may have said he wasn't pressured, he may have not said it wasn't his own idea but is now saying it.

It's one's own words versus another.

I'm not saying either is lying, I'm just saying to take one person's words as fact over the other without a witness or other form of proof is tough. At that point, it's just making your own opinion of the situation and going with it.

As an add on from my original response. I think we've all been there when young and under pressure. He may have wanted to say more in the moment but just tried to get through it without creating much more of an issue...and is now more comfortable talking about. I know I've been there and I'm sure many can relate, especially around that age and when dealing with more adults.

Why the fuck is Cotter even protecting either Yamaha, Star, the Deegans or all of the above and allowed this happen when he was seemingly involved from start to finish and somehow inserted himself into the situation to try and diffuse it? I’m not trying to be part of the “cancel culture” but that seems like an absolute reason to give his impartial ass the boot.

Yamaha has been a huge sponsor of Matthes and his Pulp MX show for a long time; hard to separate all of the conflicts of interest in motocross, especially when it comes to media.

We should be speaking to Cotter in the next day or two...reached out to Donnie Luce and Brian Deegan. We'll see if there's any response...

Sorry Davey, you can spin this any way you want with different stories you say are opposite of someone who was there. You werent there. Your employee is going to say what you want to hear. All that doesn't even matter because the kid got pressured and thats un refutable.

Good for you though to clean up your aisle as this shit show unfolds.

Why did DC need to put in his statement the volunteer work tim cotter does outside of motocross? to make him look like an angel? Also says brennans motor guy has nothing to do with it so was asked to leave the trailer, but brian deegan "the father of his sons bike" could be there...last i checked it was star racings bike so how does brian have any more reason to be in the trailer discussing than brennans motor guy. Not even brians bike.
Star could easily build a replica bike for haiden if they really want "his last amateur bike"

Ill give Matthes the benefit of the doubt because he essentially called bullshit when Weege said he wasn’t pressured.

MxSports constant justification of their mistakes this year completely shifted their fan base. Now everyone loves Feld 😂

At one time Brennan may have said he wasn’t pressured because he was actually afraid that he just poked the bear big time. I lean towards believing Brennan over the corporate goons at this point.

Not sure if it's been said yet, but that 17yr old is very very VERY well spoken. Props to him for laying it out as it happened and not showing emotion like most young kids would do.

The biggiest disappointment should come in what people think of Yamaha. Why are they allowed to pressure and threaten the kids sponsor to force him to withdraw the claim.

That in itself is so unethical, the AMA should be stepping in and protecting people from crap like that. The rule is there for a reason, you shouldn’t have to fear what happens if you try to claim a bike.

If they DO speak I'm curious to see how they spin this to try and come off as innocent and in the right. Unless this kid is completely lying and made all this up then they have some serious explaining to do. I doubt this would happen but based off of Brennan's story I'd like to also hear what Star and Yamaha has to say. If this whole thing about threatening his sponsor is true then holy shit.

This is beyond ridiculous.

Shady doesn’t even begin to describe it.

This is flat out bullshit. The rule bending and strong arming is borderline illegal.

We should start a GoFundMe now and save up so we can claim a bike next year. And give it to the 40th place rider in the class.
Your last paragraph: I’d donate to that in a heartbeat. That’s absolutely brilliant.

Say when.

Awesome for the kid. Put his mind and works his ass off to do it.
Bring a full factory bike to an Amateur event and it SHOULD get claimed.
This is Pro Motocross inner circle at play here! What horseshit

I wouldn’t heap too much of the negativity on Haiden himself, like the video said he just rides what Star provides him. But it would really be interesting to dig into who at Yamaha threatened the dealer. Since the dealer had nothing to do with the claim, you’d think that would almost be extortion trying to use that threat to get the dealership to talk the kid out of it.
Exactly what I was thinking. That is flat out extortion. I would have gone through with that claim and had the dealer say talk to my fucking attorney.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I don't always nail the vision I have set forth for this place and how my work integrates into it, but I'll keep trying.

We have some pretty exciting stuff coming down the road. New hires, ideas, content, etc.

The next week is going to be a referendum on the objectivity of the Moto media, the AMA, and MX Sports amateur racing. If Pulp or Weege ignores it or takes the Mfg line, I can’t support any of them again.

I've been a lifelong Yamaha fan and supporter. I was looking at getting a 2023 YZ450F to replace my '18 YZ450F. But after this bullshit behavior, Fuck Yamaha. I'll never buy another bike (or anything) from them for the bullshit behavior they displayed in this situation. What a bunch of wankers.

Time to start riding other manufacturer bikes and look for my next ride, which won't be a Yamaha. Bunch of whiny little bitches. Turning the sport into a Jerry Springer Show.

And fuck the Deegans, never root for them either.

100%

I couldn’t agree more with everyone else that it is very reassuring seeing ML512 objectively talking about it.

If the media members working under Racer X don’t it does look pretty bad especially cause those platforms are built on talking about the hard topics.

Like I said before though I feel like Steve was skeptical I just hope he talks about it. He has such influence it would be epic if he did and dissapointing if he doesn’t.
