Ok, then let's put our common sense hat's on for a minute....

Does it really make sense that the huge corporation that is Yamaha would put in the time and resources to take away this dealers contract over a claim filed at an Amateur Race, by a no-name kid from Canada that probably has their logo on his graphics cause they sold him a bike at cost and he gets cost plus 10% on parts?

Not to mention, the Racing side and Dealership side of Yamaha are completely separate from each other.

I'm sure some shit went on behind the scenes with this that we'll never know about, but I just can't wrap my head around threatening the dealer who (by what I've read at least) had zero to do with the whole situation....

When it was a fully factory motor/transmission that they got caught with their pants down running? Yeah…. I think they were looking for every bit of leverage to use against that kid.

Why else would the owner of the dealership be brought in to the meeting room with Cotter, Brian Deegan and the kid? The dealer had absolutely nothing to do with this whole situation, yet was brought in to a closed door meeting before the father for what reason? Anyone who thinks his licensing wasn’t threatened….please explain to me why he was involved in any capacity then.
Wait, were there other parties in that room when the dealer was brought in as you say, or was it just the three you mentioned (“Cotter, Brian Deegan and the kid”)? Who threatened to cancel the dealer agreement? I assume it wasn’t the kid…

The dealer was brought in to the closed door meeting with less than 10 people involved. Do the math.

Where was that info posted/reported?? It was originally widely "known" that only Cotter , Deegan and the kid were in this so-called meeting/ interrogation . When and who claimed that the dealer was in there ???

You don't think much before you post do ya?? LOL

Lets assume Yamaha USA was at Lorettas... I mean, no need for yamaha canada to be there as they had american reps on the ground...

That would not keep Yamaha USA from harassing the kid about the claim... doesn't keep them from offering the kid deals to go back on his claim... and with the actual dealer on the ground at Lorettas... it does not keep the Yamaha USA rep from walking up to said dealer and saying "I'll make one call and your yamaha contract is gone!".......

but... you jump to conclusions, like a 12 yr old would.... "that pretty much puts it to bed"... LMAO....

You really think the kind of contracts that Yamaha has with their dealers can be undone with "one call" ?

You really don't think that would lead to a huge legal battle?

A quick check of the link Swordfish posted makes it appear this is a huge, full line Yamaha dealer...something tells me it'd take more than "one call" to make that go away.

Makes about as much sense as Star & Deegan talking to the kid AND switching out the engine yet not thinking anything fishy is going on

Bobby Regan was also involved* at one point as things “got settled”….. it very well could have started with just 3 people in the room, but wasn’t resolved with just 3.

I wasn’t a valedictorian or Rhodes Scholar but don’t really have a problem with simple math. My question was based on your statement and I was able to count that number on one hand with a digit or two unused. Now you say there were “less than 10 people involved”. Are there any more than that? I need to know if I need to take my shoes and socks off so I can “do the math”…

I’m not debating # of people in the room, I wasn’t there. I know the dealer was though. The question still remains….why?

Or quid pro quo options for if he did or didn’t withdraw the claim.

Why were people in this kids life unrelated to the situation brought in to negotiate the resolution?

Maybe because the kids parents weren't there and the dealer was who brought him to LL.? I don't know but I'm not buying the big conspiracy theory that is at this point rumors and hearsay...like I said in a previous post there seems to be a lot of guilty until proven innocent going on around here

So now the dealer that shouldn’t have felt threatened because he deals with Yamaha Canada and not US was in the room with Star and Yamaha US. Yeah no reason for that dealer to be concerned 😂😂🤦‍♂️

Don’t forget that Yamaha Canada and Yamaha US are separated by a border, and have no influence on one another….. almost like they don’t share a parent company in Japan that would have egg on their face if a Yamaha factory engine package was caught in the B class.

They may be separated by the border but they are the same organization basically. They consolidated both operations into one. Yamaha Canada had all their shares transferred to Yamaha Motor USA and are now a subsidiary along with other Yamaha holdings. US operation really calls the shots.

That part is categorically untrue! I was in the room the whole time when Deegen was there and nothing happened there was no intimidation whatsoever. I was also there right after the kid brought the protest up and the reason the kid was in the room without his father is because his father wasn’t there. Derek Harris wanted in the room but was not allowed because he was not the parent or guardian. That is absolutely positively firsthand because I was in the room

Do the rules for 250B say you can’t run a particular engine build? Because I’m pretty sure that rule only applies to the limited class which Haiden was not racing. The claim had absolutely nothing to do with a rules infraction and most likely everything to do with someone wanting to get their hands on a star yamaha built motorcycle.

A claiming rule is put in place to keep costs in check, you are more than welcome to show up with a 50k build, you just have to accept you can lose it for a lot less.

Fun fact…. I forget the year but I remember the yoshimura Suzuki road racing team having a claim put in at an ama event years ago, on the road racing side you can claim specific parts and even tires. Another rider put up the $$ and said he wanted Mladins forks. The team was running unobtanium showa forks and weren’t about to just hand them over, so the mechanic pulled them off and smashed them with a hammer and then handed them over. The rider shook his head, rescinded his claim and walked away.

That be so funny seeing star smashing the engine and forks and ecu with a hammer then handing it over to the kid that claimed deegans bike. I’m sure they much rather that then handing over a factory engine or ecu and have who knows look through it

WOW. This is huge. Fuck Deegan for cornering a kid (17 is still a kid) and pressing him over making a legitimate claim, and fuck Yamaha for threatening the dealer that works with the kid.

How does Brian Deegan not know about the claiming rule, I call bullshit on that one. And why should this kid catch all the shit from Yamaha over this? They should be bitching out Star for putting factory motors in an amateur bike that’s eligible to be claimed.

This is nuts. Paging DC, we need to hear your thoughts on Tim Cotter’s actions here. This is inexcusable behavior.

Just turned a 20-pager to a 30-pager.
