How do you think he will do?

I think top 10 would be successful.

Top five would be incredible.

Podium seems highly unlikely.

Great time to be a fan!! Almost makes me want to sign up for Flo. Almost…

From Racerhead Friday: He is planning on going straight to the A class when this race is over to gather as many pro-am points as possible, get in a minimum of five race results, and then if all goes according to plan, he wants to apply for his pro-am license and try to race in the Ironman National at the end of August.

Top 12.
I'd probably agree man, but wouldn't be surprised if he did way better, or way worse. Super hard to gauge haha.

It'll be cool to see his debut either way, hope he does well and hope the usual people can tone things down and not be dicks about the lad if it does end up taking him a little while to find his feet.

I know they have rules and systems in place.
But winning the amateur combine should pretty much give u a pro licence. Or atleast give some of the points needed.
When they say 5 races? Is that 5 class entries. Or if the class has 3 motos that's 3 races complete?

Top 5 .250 class is weak as hell . Don't care what anyone says . Apart from Jett, hunter, cooper shimoda and sometimes. Kitchen, and RJ .i really think Deegan should be better than the rest right away . I also think he has a great chance at the championship next year .Jett will be gone .

Agreed. I'm impartial on Deegan, so it's not like I'm wanting them to break rules for the kid...but there has to be some common sense here. He is clearly good enough to race a national, especially after dominating the combine.

Exactly , I ll put it this way, first year RV, RD ,TC 41 ,ET3,JMart, Kroc , etc etc all win that championship in their first year against that level of competition. Imo he has a great chance to win first year . Jett had to race DF 14 and j mart first year which is way harder than hunter and j cooper .

What is his pro number?
My guess is 238. Back to the old amateur number. No one was entered into washougal with that number so I’m guessing it’s available

Jett will be gone, but Hunter, Shimoda, Vialle and Cooper won't be. Top ten will be pushing it.

Other than RV none of the guys one your list won this title his first year. Took Tomac 4 years. Kenny never won a 250 outdoor title. Winning the title in the first year doesn't happen very often. Before RV we'd have to go all the way back to Stewart if I'm not mistaken. Then probably Pastrana and RC.

If he wants to have a shot at beating Hunter and Shimoda next year he better be running circles around his teammates at the test track right now

Championship next year huh? That's pretty bold. I'd love to see it. When a rookie can come out swinging like that it usually means a career destined for greatness. There's still going to be fast guys in the class next year. I think that's a stretch

Imo.... he has top 5 speed... but he is 16 and has been on a full sized bike for only around a year.... but... Ironman is late in the season and many guys have it on cruise control... my guess would be 4-6 for a top 5 overall...

Who was the last guy to win their very first national, et3?

Exactly my point . Elli , Kenny etc etc had way stiffer competition to win a championship than Deegan will over Hunter, Shimoda etc . I don't know if Deegan will win ,but he has the best chance in years for a first year pro. I honestly think you put any of the names like Eli , dungey , canard ,j mart . They would win the championship against Hunter , shimoda in there first year pro .
