Those Bormi "coke bottle" swingarms just scream "works bike". How long was your longest lead time on parts or finding parts?

So sick!!!!!!!! Those KX 500s were so gnarly, yet smooth when compared to the CR500s. Would be a blast to ride one again.

They do So Much more than 'just' swingarms.

And, as Maggoofan said, it looks to be a printed airbox, with, it appears, openable through rotating 'windows', air vents. So trick!

Love that you kept the original front fender and numberplate. All theese kxf conversion with a modern front fender and numberplate make me sick.

But i would have prefered to seen a pair och gold or silver rims on it to keep it time correct. There is way to much vintage bikes out there with black rims.

Lots of really nice attention to detail stuff. I could never ride it...it's too nice.
I have the original tank, I also have an original plastic 89 tank, but I like the alloy one

Yeah, it has a bormi tank and subframe, WP fork, Proflex shock, ported cylinder, cone pipe, pwk 39mm carb and the usual ”whole overhaul” treatment.

Me and my father own around 30 hondas from year -77 and onwards. With some Mugen, and EX GP bikes in the collection. But i guess we can say that i am more of a purist when it comes to period correct parts than my father.

I am generally not a fan of black rims but to be honest I didn’t even notice them as I was so blown away by the rest of the bike. They look good on this build for sure.

Amazing build. Only thing I don't like is the bars. I know they came with green bars back in the day but I think they look cheap. Your bike deserves a set of gold renthal bars to finish it off. Also need some decals or die cut stickers on the fork guards as the all black guards are too "heavy". Are you going to ride this beauty?

Really beautiful bike mate. What's the story with the air box? Is it plastic or painted alloy? Really like the look. I'd like one on my '89 KX125 - the stock one is worn out with a hole in the corner.

Would like to ask where you sourced that air box from?

Also, is that an OEM sub frame?

Awhile back Jonathan Bell from the UK mentioned he was looking into making monocoque sub frame / air box combos, but I haven't had any success on getting in touch with him, to see if they're available yet?
