I have a few feet of space left in the garage that needs some additional project bikes that I'll get to "soon".
Meh, there's always Barber's in October. It's only 2 hours up the road.
BTW, what are these "rules" you allude to? Never heard of that at a vintage event.

Pit Row
It was a hell of a wait to get in Thursday morning, but the weekend is so worth it. Everything from burnout pit, to drunks eating mud. Circle track shenanigans, sweet swap meet finds, stand up hill climbs, to the Wall of Death. Tons and tons of 2 wheeled racing of all sorts. It is the best event EVER! Ive been going for nearly 20 yrs and Ill never miss one as long as I live. Thanks Mid Ohio and all the racers, vendors, and attendees for a GREAT weekend! See you next year.
Bike was assembly and jetted a few days before the event. Then when I arrived in Indiana from North Carolina and looked it over I had it torn back down, with my dad that used to race pro MX in the 70s on a Bul, to a frame with engine. Was up until 4AM Thursday morning getting it together. Last fix was finding a giant rust hole in the pipe that had been puttied over and painted. Welded a patch over that which was sketchy because the whole thing was rusted paper thin. Checked that it started and that the kill switch worked...loaded it up.
Went out for practice and the bike quit after the first turn. Pulled it back to the paddock(Our group has road race bikes for the weekend as well). Pulled ignition cover. The wheel was laying in the cover. Guess I should have checked the new ignition that was just installed a few days ago. Definitive problem though. Many herca derks later on that flywheel nut and it ran great. Too bad the only ride was in the mud after the big rain. Did have it lock the rear wheel and kill the engine once in the moto, probably mud+rocks. I quickly confirmed this was an engine that cannot be started with the clutch pulled in. Passed a few and settled in. Bob Bean caught up from the second gate drop so I rode with him for a while hoping Sharon would get me in some pictures until he fell to the mud and muck.
Finished out in 4th place in Vintage 250 A MX. May return next year with some engine/suspension enhancements. Mainly all the the "flywheel" mass of the rotating parts in the engine. Power was good but you had to wait for it. Time will tell.
Scuderia Shamrock loaned me the ride an I appreciate it. Thanks to our whole crew we keep getting our racing program a little better every year.
