Well, I’m down here in Southern California taking it all in.
Not the uncle I posted a thread about having congestive heart failure but, my uncle who was married to my aunt died suddenly on Friday.

While taking the trash out, my uncle collapsed and, was gone. He was only 62. We’re still waiting for the cause of death but, these last few days have been pretty tough. Seeing his drum set without him sitting behind it, not hearing his laughter. He was always up for a good time.

The last time I was down here was in 2019. My cousin and, I were planning another trip this year to do some riding again together. Unfortunately, with minimal hours at work for both of us, the cost of gas prices, we decided we’d wait until next year.

My uncle and, I would text memes, sharing humor and, our love for music to one another until the next time.

The one thing I saw on the wall of his house when I got here was a little plaque that said, “ Stop Saying Tomorrow”. That’s really resonated with me.

If you guys have friend’s or, family that you don’t talk to as often as you’d like or, don’t see that often, reach out to them as tomorrow is never promised.

RIP Uncle Rick.

Dammit Damien, it's been a rough one for your family lately. Uncle Rick seems like he was one of the good ones to grow up with.

Damien,

Truly sorry for you and your family.

Really like the way you shared who Uncle Rick was. That was very nice to read.

Can I offer something? If it's ok or cool to do so...go play those drums. You don't have to be a rockstar, jus' sit behind them and play what ya feel. It's good for the soul. Rick knew this...

To Uncle Rick, Keep Rockin'.

It’s tough. On top of this, another shit part is, my wife found out her grandmother passed the same day. It’s like WTF?!?
I keep envisioning that damn commercial. But, wait! There’s more. So, I’m down in LA dealing with this, my wife’s up in Seattle dealing with that.

Trying to be level headed, not be too emotional while trying to be here for my family because I don’t want to make a difficult situation harder. I flew in knowing it would be tough but, God Damn. So, I’m venting here a bit. I’m thankful for the many good people I’ve met on here over the years. Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot.

A couple positives.
One thing that’s amazing is how many people are showing up to give their condolences. He touched a lot of people and, pushed many to better themselves and, also myself. People I’ve never even met before are speaking of his influence on them.

My uncle was pretty well known locally for his drumming abilities. His band had an opportunity to open for Pennywise back in the 90’s but, life got in the way and, things fell through. When he would play in his garage, smash venues, and the neighbors opened their windows clear down the street to hear him. Super bittersweet hearing everyone talk about him.

My cousin found a few cassettes of his recordings and, practice sessions. Now, we have to figure out how to transfer them to a CD then, download onto a memory card.

Anyways, apologies for the long winded message/vent session.

Keeping telling his story.

It's a good thing to let the world know how he affected it for the better.

Hang in there and keep the positive memories at the front of your mind.

Positive thoughts and prayers to you and your's.

Sorry Damien you have to go threw that and the loss of your pal. None of my immediate family talks it’s so bizarre. They won’t even visit when I had a major back operation thank God I had a hot college chic to help out a little. So I like hearing about a normal family.

There will be a celebration of his life Aug 26th at Torrance Beach (RAT).

Unfortunately, I’m back in Seattle and, will be watching it through live streaming.

It’s going to be a tough day for sure. Not only will it be his celebration but, it’s also my 21st wedding anniversary

Yesterday was his 63rd birthday, it was the day he was also cremated.

Well, I made it down to California for my uncle’s celebration. He would’ve loved this. Close to 100 people showed up.
