I met Steve very briefly at Hangtown. He was talking to DC and I hung back til I saw that DC was ready to chew his own arm off to get away (joking fellas). I walked up and could see the dismissive look from Steve until DC grabbed my hand, said my name and introduced me to Steve. All of the sudden...I'm somebody.

Matthes has a business. He judges who he meets based on their hierarchy in the sport or monetary influence. Seat of the pants judgement calls...I get it.

I grew up in the oil rich Oklahoma fields. The bankers, car dealers, realtors learned real quick not to judge that dirty, bib overalls wearing, guy in the beater truck too quickly. That sumbitch might pay cash...on the spot for whatever his heart desires.

I'm just saying...Steve may not always be listening to the ground in the right place.
