You are absolutely right, I judged harshly at first and was 100% wrong. Now just think if the Australian government had an ax to grind against him, he would have been screwed.

I have a buddy who was a child crimes detective. It would blow most peoples minds how many of the cases they take in that are eventually found to be one parent making shit up in an attempt to shovel dirt on the other, typically in a divorce/custody battle. The worst part, other than the poor parent whose name is ruined, is the poor child(ren) put in the middle by the other parent with an axe to grind. Special place in hell for those people.

Of the righteous ones, the system shits all over child victims. The courts allow attorneys to re-victimize them at trial. It’s horrible.

I have an old friend that lives out here in my town , and we grew up together. He dated this gal who was a drug addicted and at the time had a little girl. Which he mostly raised himself for around 10 years , when he finally had enough and left. He got his own place , and daughter wanted to go live with him , as she knew her mom was a piece of crap. He basically just said , " You're not my kid , even though I love you , I can't have you come and stay with me.

So the girl , who was about fifteen told the police that he had been molesting her. He was in prison for almost two years. Then the mother and some of the daughters friends came forward and said she had lied about everything , because she was pissed that he wouldn't let her come live with him. He lost two years of his life. Never did hear if she ever got in trouble either , as she was still under age. So YES......people can be evil , lying assholes!!

Im hoping its not true, for everyone involved.
Met the guy a few times and he was also a hero so to say of mine. Glad it came to light he was innocent.
Plenty had him executed without a fair say.
Imagine being loaded up with this AND then people saying you deserve death without waiting for the truth. I bet he knows who his real friends are now.

Yep, happened her in our little town. I thought that most of the folks were guilty initially, but most of them were set up by the cop, Bob Perez. I actually had a guy work for me several years later who was wrongly imprisoned and it ruined his life. He was much more forgiving of Perez than I would/could have been. I actually knew Perez's kids and his ex-wife fairly well, and had spoke to him many times but he always gave me a bad vibe.

The sad part is that I don't doubt that there were a few guilty folks in all of that mess, but the actions of Perez really clouded it for everyone and there were probably come guilty folks who had convictions overturned.

That was a terrible era for our community.

This kind of reaction (guilty before proven innocent) is pretty normal in the world today. He was not a well liked guy by his own doing so when he’s charged with child related abuse crimes, he’s not going to get the benefit of the doubt. Sucks, but that’s the way it goes in the big leagues.

Kids may not make this up very often on their own, but nefarious adults with an agenda can and do use kids to get even and/or a leg up on their wife, husband, neighbor, teacher, etc-and it happens with alarming regularity. There’s a reason child interviewers have to have specialized training. It is very easy to lead a child’s answers to questions. Not to mention, if a child has to live with one parent primarily, that parent has a lot of power to get the child to keep them happy, knowing they have to live with them.

I will agree that there are some sickening people among the “elite” and the scumbags cover for each other, but that’s a whole other discussion.

Yeah, this is a big reason why I’m not a big fan of death penalties. When these people were being convicted, I was thinking that they should all be hanged. After so many were actually found to be innocent later, I was pretty glad that they weren’t.

I do sort of hope that Bob Perez is rotting in hell right now, though……

That's sad but at least it was 2 years. Imagine if it was 5, 10, 20, 30, etc.

I have a really good friend who has just been through something similar. Wealthy. Well known. And especially well-known because he trades in his older models for newer models every five to seven years. Been doing it for five or six trade-ins. Didn't help that he volunteered for a reality show about really rich guys getting hitched. Sure enough. Right after that. Someone (young) stepped up and claimed he had forced himself on her. After that, more pile in.

Well, grand jury no-billed him last week. I didn't need that to know him. He's like the kindest, gentlest guy I think I've ever known. But.... He's wealthy. Very. And, if you can believe it, naïve. (Like completely) His best friend explained it perfectly. "He's painted a big target right in the middle of his back. But, he doesn't need to force anything. Women are throwing themselves at him 24-7. Why would he decide to suddenly assault *her*?"
