Listened to some more, comes across much better in places.

I'm wondering if the language barrier a few people have mentioned is actually playing more of a part than I accounted for...

I remember seeing stuff years ago where he'll come out with something that sounds so arrogant it's like he's gonna go home later and try his best to blow himself, yet says it so casually and nobody there reacts at all, maybe because they know how to take it and understand what he really means where some of us, myself included, take it too literally or his actual point goes over my head.

Also think Gypsy's video titles have made things sound like they're gonna be much more disrespectful and argumentative than they are when you actually get around to watching them, which I guess is just straight clickbait and probably pays the bills, so that shouldn't have been a shocker, that's on me.

3/4 people posting in this thread clearly didn't listen/watch the whole pod cast and it shows.

Listened to the "youthstream" segment.
He definitely came across far less condescending.
Also, Jace had an interesting take on how qualifying could be.

Something along the lines of F1 qualifying might be a much better show over here as well.
The way he lays it out, we could easily do the same here.
450's and 250's alternating times out on the track in Q 3, 2, 1, sessions for gate picks.
Would definitely let us see more of the top guys throwing down their heater's in the last sessions.

Something RDL could never seem to do during SX.
And the main reason I never even bothered paying for the mavtv app.
I can DVR and watch the races on their television channel at my convenience later in the day.
Rewind anytime, watch again later without having to wait.
Why pay or the practice sessions where they show the backmarkers flailing, and top guys rolling around ??

Jeffy The Sandman vs Vinny You Got Freeze'd Friese on an Arena-X track might be a good match up. Just saying. Smile

However, it would be cool to see some sort of 1 or 2 lap outdoor mx 1 on 1 bracket race like they have with RedBull straight rhythm.Have a huge winner take all purse. Maybe MX Sports,FELD and Infront Moto Racing could all work together and make it happen for the world to see.

No he didn’t take a stab at RV he used RV ridding lommel as an example of how it’s different and you need to practice it to be able to ride it good. He was saying even some one even as amazing as RV I couldn’t just come and ride it fast

Most dutch folks sound like that when they are talking english, it’s just the way their english sounds due to the cadence of the way they speak dutch in holland.

Not defending some of the things he said but i do believe the way they say it makes it come across differently than intended. That also goes for swearing, they like to drop the eff bomb a lot and it’s not really used in the same way it is used here in the states.

Totally oposite to Tomac (who grows on me more and more) just quietly goes about his business and does his talking in the track
Yeah the Dutch r different my Mom is from Holland. Extremely detailed in there property and life. My grandparents house and barn was connected in Holland. Both r spotless they scrub the floor and there hands and knees. There’s Dutch towns in Wi. For a parade the 13 yr old girls dress like 1940,s with bonnets on with wooden buckets of water they scrub the street. My grandparents spoke mainly English mixed with some Dutch if they didn’t know the English word. Extremely tolerable people I never heard 1 bad word about German people from aunts and uncles that where in world war 2 also. Flying Dutchman is a phrase from work. There flying to get the job done 1st then play hard. A lot of them hv a temper if someone is messing up the productivity of the work look out. My uncle punched a hole in the wall next to my grandpas head ovr how the farm was run. Speaking another language you speak differently. More short and too the point.

I will say that at their peak and on their day Tomac and Herlings have shown the other worldly speed that all these other guys only dream of. When they are non it they put seconds on everyone every lap

I don’t know how anyone can get longer than 10 minutes into a gypsy podcast. “dude, bro, fuuuuck”

To be fair, the host of that podcast is unbearable. I just listened to a couple of clips to hear what other things Herlings had to say but I can't do any more than that.

SX/MX is only motorsport that doesnt give fck how you end up in qualifying. All starting same line. Herlings says qualifying race on saturday is waste of time and adds risk to get hurt. Cant agree more.

cant seem to understand the hate comments. maybe im biased but i only heard a sincere man telling it like he feels. if he believes hes better he says so, if he believes tomac in a good day is the fastest man ever he also tells that way. i like it for a change... anyway i strongly believe hes going to usa in 2024 cause he only needs 2 victories to beat the record holder everts with 101 victories. on the other hand its very difficult to pass everts on championships so he will settled with the victories record and move over to usa for his final part of his racing career, anyway i truly hope he does, cause even if he didnt win its gonna be great, he still in his prime!

I just watched the YouTube video with him talking about racing Eli.

In my opinion he comes off as a complete jackass. Of course, he wants to race Eli on a hammered Lommel track. Nothing like cherry picking what suits your abilities the best. How about 3 races? One at Lommel one at an outdoor American track and one supercross track.
So you want to give Eli 2x shots at it, but Herlings just 1? How about a 4th Moto around Hawkstone park in February? Who would...

How about a 4th Moto around Hawkstone park in February? Who would bag that one?

You see, this could go on & on forever.
Ummm that was kinda his point guy.

In the full podcast he said when Tomac is on no one in the world can beat him and that includes me(JH). JH in no way shit on Tomac and I take it more as he respects him so much he wants the challenge. Y’all some sensitive people.

Also, some of y’all are dramatic on how different Supercross and motocross are. Yes they are different but it’s not some foreign discipline. I think, minus whoops, all the top mxgp guys can easily handle Supercross with just a bit of practice.

Fair enough.

I don't even think Herlings is the King in MXGP, he is forgetting there is one active rider that has more big boy titles than him and is well on route to score another one. No hate on him, but that's the truth.

Yes, the host is the king of droning on . . . Herlings though, was articulate, funny and humble.

Reading through this thread......there seems to be a lot of guys who didn't listen to the entire podcast. Only a 6 - 10 min YouTube video.

Jeffrey gave huge props to guys like Eli , Kenny , Anderson and Chase. I listened to a dude with a ton of humility , which has also proven himself to be the fastest dude on earth at times.....talk highly of his competitors.

I'll bet that if you listened to the whole podcast , if you weren't a Herlings fan before......you would be after.

AND......this is coming from one of his biggest critic's of his , ever on this board in the past.

I give him huge props for this interview.

I can't listen to the pothead blabbermouth's 5-word vocabulary, 3 of which are f**k, dude, like...........and his 5-minute long "questions".........too bad, because he's had some icons like Casey Stoner, Mick Doohan, GL, Chad Reed, Pastrana and others trying to get a word in edge-wise .......... I wonder what they thought, listening to his toker F-bomb babbling Laughing Laughing The Aussie porn actors and goobers like "Buttery" (wtf?) are more his type, should stick with them until he learns how to speak properly.

Herlings is Europe's #1 Crash Test Dummy, like Blubba Stewart in the USA. Between them they've crashed away what? a dozen ships? Extremely impressive when all goes well, but when it doesn't........KABOOM

Herlings seems to be fragile too. Blubba bounced pretty good initially, but he punished many tracks severely with his noggin.....it took a toll. Herlings isn't prone to doing the stupid shit Blubba did though, gotta give him that. (ask RC) Laughing

Tomac did the same when he was young, remember that 250 crash in CO when he was a MINUTE ahead of 2nd place? Seems he learned his limitations (high as they are) early on. He's also not all over MTV bragging about his crib or his Lambo............

MX/SX going "mainstream" ................be careful what you wish for.
