How did dung lose a 4-second lead over rockzen on last lap? I missed it?
Probably the same reason Hunter closed a 3,5 second gap on Jett on the last lap of 250 moto 2. They were both hauling ass but Hunter hauled just a little bit more, although he wasn’t able to execute the pass in the last turn like Roczen was able to execute on Dunge. Lappers have to be factored in too but the chaser and the chasee both have to deal with them.

He can win this thing. I believe kr will fade, sexton will have a mishap, Its likely he can get a race win by seasons end. Im glad he is actually going for it and not just having fun.

No he can’t.

Yeah, man...I'm a HUGE RD5 fan, and although I feel certain that he'll get some podiums, and maybe get a win before the season is over...

But, no...Dungey can't win this thing.
Well he has been so consistent. We know that is what he has always been. I predict he will get better as the year goes on. He always gives 110%. I cant say that about any other current rider. I know
Its not likely, he is a full race behind, but his speed has been building. There will be some shakeup in the top 5, we pretty much know somebody has to take a digger and its not likely gonna be him. Whatever the case to consistently top 5 at 32 after six years off with s family is amazing in my book.

The list of athletes that have come out of a 5 year retirement and succeeded is just as small as you would think it would be. There are plenty of stories of athletes hanging on too long and embarrassing themselves. Dungey participates in a sport where failure is a lot more serious than embarrassing himself. What he is doing is nothing short of incredible.

He’s 32 years old, the peak of fitness for all athletes. He never stopped riding or training, so his body and mind were never inactive, he kept sharp.
I usually agree with you, but not on this one.
Dungey had the speed this week, and once he got through the first few laps, he didn't fade.
I expect his results will continue to improve for the next few events before leveling out.
That should be enough to put him in the mix for wins. We'll soon find out.

Either way, the racing is fantastic!

I think lappers came into play. He mentioned in a post race interview he got heated and owed a few privateers some apologies.
On 2 laps to go he had brought the time from 5 sec to 2 sec behind sexton .so he was actually pulling from roczen and catching sexton . Then a few turns later he lost 6 sec s . he must of got held up big time by lapper s , there was 5 or 6 between him and sexton when he lost the time .

I watched the first 3 nats on TV. I attended the High Point nat this past weekend.

First off, what a perfect day. Mid 70,s and partly cloudy. Motocross nirvana.

Dunge, at the earlier nats, would occasionally let a rider by that he was visibly slower than. At HP, Dungey was on it. Never let anybody by and was fighting for every position. I was in awe...

I have no doubt, he will podium this year. And if the chips fall his way, an overall.

Where did I put my rubber stamp...

He went for long stretches of time without any riding. He only rode with any sort of regularity for a few brief periods when he was mulling a return. He didn't partake in many "just for fun" riding sessions at all.

Yes Dungey has kept himself fit but there is a huge difference between civilian fit and professional athlete fit. Not to mention that when guys miss a half a season or so they will always say that they were fit but you can't match the fitness of getting gate drops. How many times have we heard "I've still been working out and staying fit but now I have to get into race shape."?

If RC4 had come back when he was 32 years old he would have won the title.
The unfortunate thing is what you just saw with your own eyes agreed with me and not you.

Dungey first race back does better than expected just riding on shear emotion of being back. Rounds 2 & 3 results coming back to earth as he gets his sea legs and gets race fit. Round 4 and from here on out he is back to race shape and is a contender every race.

Imagine if he was lining up for the +25 and Open Pro Sport classes at Loretta Lynn's instead of the nationals. Grinning

At the end of the Infield Access video you can see him waving his hands in disgust towards someone. He was pissed for sure.

281 Canadian Jeremy Medaglia filling in on the YOT bike.

Glad they ditched the black number on red background for the 250 class.
