Honestly, Klinger did an excellent job on that test video, proper impressive effort 👍

Silent, adjustable big power, KYB, Brembo, it always sounded pretty sweet, but it does sound like it backs it up... Interesting stuff.

Props to Stark for bringing a 450 along too, not like they're scared of reminding the media what it's up against even at their own test day.

The bike looks phenomenal. Really cool that the charger is intergrated into the bike stand, and it comes with the bike!

I cant wait to ride it. ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️

Bike looks great.
But absolute no talking about range.
They should be honest about it.

I was not expecting much at the beginning, i was then scared at the presentation, and now i am convinced our future with e-bikes is not that bad. Bike is awesome to ride.

Looks very good!

Fantastic! I guess my next bike is the Varg in 18-24months.

As they say it's different to jump, you need more speed coming into a jump, why is that? I don't get it. Does engine inertia help with the lift on ICE bikes? Also... wonder, does it mean easier to jump or harder, i.e, will you need to be much more careful with balance on the bike? ...or less careful since it's easier to adjust?

Great stuff Stark Varg!

I guess we can say it's just different and it takes a bit to get used to. With 10 hours on the bike and all the ajustements you can make, it's just gonna be awesome. I may order one, actually. The test just spinned me.

I can answer this from the prospective of an alta owner. The difference in jumping electric vs gas is a couple things, but the speed is the same. I think "needing more speed" coming into a jump is an illusion due to electric having no transmission and lots of smooth power, continuously accelerating. Electric bikes have a lot more pitch control in the air vs gas due to lots of torque and no transmission and rev limiter to hit. Its like going from 1st gear to 5th gear automatically in the air on a 450 without having to shift and no lurching of power whatsoever. On the decel side, electric bikes (at least the alta) pitch nose down off throttle in the air more than gas bikes due to the low engine intertia and engine braking; the rear tire spins down fast off load and without resistance. It took me all of about 5 laps to get used to it when i first got my Alta and man, every time i ride a gas bike i miss the easy pitch control electric provides. It makes the electric bike feel so much more flickable and agile in the air. You feel like you can move the bike around in the air more freely and make body position and bike attitude adjustments more easily. On electric you have much less sound. Definitely not silent. You can still reference speed off of electric motor +gear wine noise. Its just a different type of sound to reference. Loud noise doesnt mean max power necessirily with electric like you get with gas.

I get the bike feels light and nimble, but I am guessing it is heavier than a current 450. How does that heavier weight feel when landing from a jump? The heavier weight has got to be noticed somewhere..no?

I didn't have any real doubts it would perform fantastic, but pretty let down they couldn't test the range.

Fair point….all we know for sure is that it does 4 laps.

The write up says Tortelli could get 35-40 minutes on a charge. That is a bit disappointing but truthfully it was about what was expected. However, for my purposes riding in my yard in the afternoon, this would be just fine.

Listened to the JT podcast, and he says they're quite confident the average person will get around an hour, but it still would be nice to get real world confirmation.

How are you meant to charge these at the track? I can’t imagine a track having enough charging points, even in the future. Or do people need to bring generators which in turn is unfriendly to the environment.

No MXA test? I find that strange, unless they were scared they would play ball and only report what they were told to. Love them or hate them, MXA is never afraid to speak their mind.

I would imagine the average user (ie most of us) could expect more run time, based on the fact that Tortelli is likely far harder on the throttle, more often, than most due to his skill.

JT Mentions this in his Pulp podcast. Tortellis main job at the moment with testing wrapped is building out the charging network at tracks across the US and EU. So Stark are paying to install chargers at tracks. JT mentioned Red Bud, Glen Helen and a few more as examples.

His podcast with Steve is spot on. The video is a bit... underwhelming, i'd say. I was expecting more, as i consider Racer X as a high standard.

MXA didn’t attend. If you read in our review we mention there was a couple days of testing that got cancelled and rescheduled. One of those days was the date we were supposed to test on and MXA. We rescheduled but MXA didn’t. Mosiman was their guy for the test and he had the Fox Raceway National to do instead and they didn’t have another guy they’d want to send in his place.

Apparently they're going to install charging stations at major tracks across the country. For local tracks, looks like generator is the way to go.

Listened to a couple more podcasts in it, one outlet said they snuck in a 6 lap/15 minute moto at a good Vet A pace and used 35% of a full charge, and did an hour play ride at the end of the day, doing sections/trails/hillclimbs and only used 10%.

If you just take a moment and concentrate on what we're actually witnessing, the most amazing thing about all this is that Stark brought the other OEMs ICE bikes to the track for comparison. That is just so goddam ballsy, but hey, they KNOW what they've got with this bike. It is The Game-Changer, it is The World-Beater. The way I see it, we moto-heads DESERVE a bike like this, and shame on all the OEMs for not trying harder to find a way to get it to us. So much for being satisfied with BNG.

Has there ever been, in the history of our sport, an all-new never-before-seen OEM that has come in and bitch-slapped the entire industry? No, no way, not by a mile. Way to go Stark, way to go.

And THANK YOU.
