Ha, we all know both Trump and Biden overstimulated the economy to avoid a recession and that the war with Russia is the primary cause for oil prices. Supply chains from Covid have obviously also driven up prices. As simple as it is to blame the dude in charge who doesn’t run your color, it’s usually macro factors that aren’t up to a single party or president.

Anyways, my moto habits haven’t changed, I just buy T4 because, if I’m paying a ton for gas, might as well have it smell good. I feel for people whose incomes aren’t increasing or who make a living that is dependent on oil. Life is just too expensive for most people now.
Thats not exactly correct. Trump was warned the 2nd stimulus could likely cause inflation. Trump and quite a few Republicans feared that and voiced their opinion that we needed to open the economy back up. They still passed it. Biden was flat told that this would happen that we reached our tipping point with the last one. Politics came into play and here we are. These are facts. Trump pused us to the edge biden pushed us over. Both can be blamed as well as both sides of congress.

Blaming Russia for our oil issues is a lie. 100% If we could not produce enough crude oil and natural gas here in the states to feed our demand and had to import like Germany your right. Blaming russia for our oil prices is like the crack head down the street Blaming me for them being poor. Both are lies and have nothing to do with other. Now to blame Russia for the spike in global prices due to Europe's dependency on it yeah your right. This is a globalist issue that we should not be apart of. But our issue is not related as we can produce our own crude oil and natural to bring our price down and avoide most of the pain we're dealing with. If the people pulling the strings wanted to. To many people and politicians trying to make a buck and don't give a fuck about us.

Why a German based company report?
Do you honestly believe that our gas prices are due to the war in Ukraine?

I would add that the effect on crude pricing began in spring of '01, when the Russian buildup started, and the effect on oil pricing was openly discussed in the news and financial press at that time. There was a small bump up in price evident in futures contracts even then.

Not sure why some folks here think the government can fix this. Until the US seizes the assets of Exxon, Mobil, Shell, etc and starts it’s own oil company…it doesn’t control the production of US oil, or the sale of it. Producers in the US are private companies. Even if we did produce all the oil we needed, and we had the refining capability to match the weight, sweetness and acidity of that oil, why would U.S. producers sell U.S. consumers oil for $70 per barrel when they could sell that same barrel overseas for $110? The federal government doesn’t make that market or regulate it. It doesn’t have the authority.

Besides making a making a stable, long run plan for oil exploration and production in the US that will incentivize oil companies to invest more capital on these projects, and clearing the regulatory path for refinery and pipeline creation, I don’t see a whole lot else for them to do. Releasing oil from the strategic reserve is largely symbolic. Attempting to increase production in the US can be done, but not without an increase in the cost per barrel. It’s not like opening a valve a little more, and we’re all good. Even so, anything we add is just a small drop in the bucket, and it doesn’t address the more nuanced contributing factors, such as the delivery methods…like the current numbers for oil “on the water” vs oil in pipelines.

No, but I can afford it thankfully.

I don't see us (America) increasing domestic production for atleast another 30 months. The current administration doesn't seem to be interested in trying to rectify this problem.

Brandon said yesterday he wants charging stations every 50 miles on the interstate. LOL. Who the hell is gonna pay for THAT????

They are shoving this agenda down our throats. Yeah, I get we are destroying the planet with our emissions. The human race is basically a parasitic organism eating it's host. That's not going to change, and I feel really sorry for my kids, and their kids, and so on. But I will still ride a 2 stroke on occasion anyway. Too old to GAF I guess. Selfish? Sure. But there are billions of us and my impact is nothing either way.

A lot of talk here about domestic drilling. Because the price of crude oil is determined in global markets, increases in domestic oil production affect the retail price of gasoline only to the extent that they lower global oil prices. We are only about 10 percent of global supply, so we could make a small dent. However, it's not the case that if we did not import any oil, it would be cheaper. We are an OPEC / Free trade country. You think Exxon is going to give Americans a deal? That's cute...

The Dallas Fed has a good article on this: https://www.dallasfed.org/research/economics/2022/0510

"Even under the most optimistic view, U.S. production increases would likely add only a few hundred thousand barrels per day above current forecasts. This amounts to a proverbial drop in the bucket in the 100-million-barrel-per-day global oil market, especially relative to a looming reduction in Russian oil exports due to war-related sanctions that could easily reach 3 million barrels per day."

Status quo..brought to you by globalists.
Refining crude, drilling crude.
We can't get a dimmer switch across the ocean..but we can continue to ship millions of gallons of oil/gas if we had it because....just because?

We need someone that can at least see a better way.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the big push to get everyone into electric cars. I’m working on a 2.5 million square foot plant for lucid motors. Supposedly after this is done they are building another building right next to this plant. Lg batteries is also going to be building a huge plant here in arizona. Maybe it is or maybe it isint but that’s what it seems to me.

There isn’t even remotely enough mining for the materials needed to build enough batteries yet. They don’t have nearly enough mining equipment to do it yet either. Can they double or triple battery production in the next couple of years? Maybe but that is a drop in the bucket of what they would need to convert everyone to electric in even the next 15 years.

Dem administration alway push renewable and electric vehicles to the detriment of the public all while wasting. Illinois of dollars for good thoughts that are not feasible in the relative future. Look at how many billions of our tax dollars Obama pissed away in companies that went bankrupt.

The reason why your not surprised is because biden made that very statement on live TV. Were going to suffer for the bebetter. He says.

My girl drives an Acura MDX which requires 91 octane at $6.75 a gallon and gets horrible mileage around town. My Diesel is $7.29 a gallon and gets horrible mileage around town as well. I do live in rural Humboldt County, CA and the 101 is a long, windy, dangerous road to get supplies here. But this is becoming a nightmare, especially when you drive as much as I do. It literally makes me sick to my stomach when I fill my truck up. I drive about 150 miles every other day going to my ranch.

Fuel prices are the new interest rate manipulation tool I suspect.
