I just did some math for next month. IF me and the boy race both the Shoug OTMX and Shoug Am days, camp, eat, bring the wife and 2 grandsons, it'll be $600-ish for the Oregon OTMX weekend and another $1000-ish for the National week. Gate, race/practice fees, (1 class each), camping, memberships, food, fuel, towing. I'm not sure I can stomach that at this time, and I am in the 5%.

Oh, and there's PIR races too plus PacWest races. And maybe 1 or 2 Practice days. Easy to spend $2500 a month. Easy.

I'm staying local, within 45 minutes of my house. No more toy hauler just for open ride days, drive 55mph, and no more VP Race fuel for the bike. Not a lot of riding happening this year. I had plans to go from Illinois to Kansas for a special event in the fall, but that is certainly not happening. I even planned some Millville and Redbud track days, but that is also not happening. My Silverado 2500 gets 12mpg on a good day and with the toy hauler it gets about 9.5 on a good day. I raced this previous weekend and the turnout was not good. About half what it normally is for a lot of the classes. Fuel prices are killing everything from food to leisure. Thanks JB and Administration.

My experience pulling trailers tells me you won't see much mileage difference between those two trailers on the highway unless one is an airstream.

Not related to your trailer but pump 93 octane is pushing $6 here but you can still get Shell 110 leaded for $8/gallon at the pump. I'm thinking I should go fill up some cans before that goes up.

My son and I raced Memorial Day w/e. Track was 90 miles away (Swan MX in TX). Spent $100 just in gas (diesel RV). Add food, entry, practice fee and race fees and it was a $500+ w/e. I feel bad for the people chasing Loretta's this year. Between the AQ, Regional, and then if you make it, you might need a second mortgage to pay for it all before it's all said and done.

We had plans to do 2 regionals but we had to narrow it down to one and we didn't make it. We will try and practice at private tracks close to the house when we can. As far as racing we plan to do the "Summer Classic" at Millcreek, TN State Championship at Muddy and hopefully the "Top Gun Showdown in the fall and possibly Mini O's. Those are on top of the list and we may hit a few local series races if possible.

The thing is to keep the intensity you need gate drops. It is what it is but the gas and inflation is starting to take a toll.

I'm heading out in the am for Colorado to do some MTB and catch Thunder Valley. I planned this trip 2 months ago and the cost has increased $200.00 since then for fuel only.

Not changing my plans but I'm crankier. More cranky? whatever -- pissed.

Did you go to byron last week. Turn out was shit.
In 98 I went to byron on a wed rode everyday showered in that old bldg. Friday night I go to a Italian restaurant had a awesome large pizza. I hooked up with the owners daughter we went to her co workers house. She asked if I wanted to see a nofx concert in Rockford. I said hell yeah. The nuclear race had a big turn out in A classes had near full gates. Jr Jackson did a Mx school during the week for a couple Wi. Brothers. I watched him demonstrate cornering and jumping . The guys an amazing rider. Ezerins won all the motos 125,250a,25+ it was crazy how good he was at contingency races, Hoffmaster was rt there in 125 a , jr finished 2nd 250a. Jennisen pitted next to me he was a little 15 yr old racing 125 a. The A class riders raced Friday night lake Geneva contingency race. Sat chill at the lake. Ezerins highest week was 4,800. No one worried about gas . Byron was a technical jumpy track then with a lot of trees. 125 b team green,s Chad Johnson was perfect in the rutted corners and jumps I saw him briefly and poof he was gone.

Prices aren't going back down much, ever. They need to lock us down to save fuel.
Gas prices are killing me for work, nobody cares.

I’ve been spending more time in the garage working on my project bikes than riding lately, plus it’s just been balls hot. Surprisingly enough building a bike seems cheaper than going riding these days

I do want to get to some of my local tracks so I can give them some business. I’m sure it’s gotta be tough on them.

Gas prices hurt! But what concerns me is what will happen next? NOT trying to make this political but This whole administration needs to go!

Listening to Keefer talk about what he spent for a qualifier has me thinking about selling everything and just buying an Ebike.

This sport is turning into one huge ass rape from the top down.

Lets play a game of “who’s spending the most to attend the MXON”

I only race my local harescramble series anymore. Lots of seat time for a 1/10th of a price of an AMA motocross weekend.

I’d say most of us are forming our own opinions based off of what we see. I don’t watch any news other than local stuff sometimes. So get outta here with that right wing nonsense. Call everyone who has different beliefs than you “right wing.” Dork.

I'm curious, could they use the "farm" diesel in their equipment to save $?
LungButter wrote:
Yes, and I'm sure they do. You can run Red Diesel in anything that you aren't using on roads that are paid for by taxes.
I think Matt Walker posted that his Red Dye Diesel was something around $4.50 a gallon? I think it was around $2.15 back in 2015? 2ish bucks a gallon adds up when you’re in the hundreds/thousands of gallons being burned

Today I'm wondering if my Hyundai Veloster will tow a 4x8 trailer. Already got a hitch for it.
In Florida I towed a little trailer with my Mazda 3. It can easily be done.

I am getting to a point where we will have to cut our Millville trip. This sucks so bad because we really want to see the 222. This whole deal sucks. I make quite a bit more than I did 4 years ago yet we have way less money and aren't living as good.

Nah Bro just a little comparison from a different time. I went down there in a box van with a tiny living counters. I never thought about how much gas was because it was cheap. Or race fees because
You could make money from contingencies Suzuki, goggle co paying 100, etc . A lot of fast A riders Otell at the RM cup 100k race led Pastrana,s 1st pro race. till he slid out on the hard pack Vegas track. Otell wasn’t in the top 5 at Byron at the time. Hoffmaster spent the winter in Cali. He did the1st free style in Vegas. He couldn’t beat Ezerins but he stayed rt on him some of the time. Kawi flew Jimmy Gaddis for 10-15 rounds of lake Geneva sx. Ezerins won the championship and a big Gold ring. He raced bone stock RM,s the 125 had a Williams silencer. 125,250 had Mx tech suspension. Full gates of expert riders I wonder if we,ll see that this year.

I also think the bottom fell out of bike sales. Looking in the vital f/s section and marketplace things aren’t moving. Which sucks I’m one of them., ha. Missed my window I guess. To the guy posting about right wing talking points. I’ve got pretty strong political beliefs and by the sounds of it you do as well. Perfectly fine. One simple question, are you better off now than four years ago? Not a political question, and no reason to overthink an answer. Simply yes or no. You know the answer don’t you?

Costs are up about 12 percent in the last 4 years. Unless your raise was less than that, something here is off.

This isn’t really right. Cause certain things are up MUCH more than others. Gas is double. Rent has doubled in some cases, some things in the grocery store have doubled.. depends on an item by item basis. I’m in the same boat as him, I went from making 13.50 to $22.50 and it doesn’t feel like I even really got a raise. Sucks but 81 million people voted for this right? $30 is the new $10.

Costs are up at least 9% in the last 12 months according to the official number. It was running 2-3% per year prior to that.
