Yes, the 2006 SX was crazy good!

Another exciting season was when Canard came from way back in the standings to catch and eventually pass Poorcel at the last race of the season. I don't remember the year..

2006 SX was great, but marred slightly by the fuel testing debacle.
2011 & 12 SX were good too.
MX- 2006 & 2011.

2017 SX Vegas finale was probably the most exciting hour of racing ever.

Bailey and RJ had some great battles. Stew, Reed, RC - lots!

The most exciting main event that I ever saw was 250 East 2017 in Las Vegas. There were "almost" 4+ champions before the main event ended. Second last corner, the last place rider takes the Championship.

Agreed on the fuel kerfuffle. That whole regulation intoxication scene was just plain stupid.

2011 & 12 SX. Was that the Ryans?

The fuel bullshit was another case of the AMA’s blatant inconsistency.
2011 was Ryans + Stew & Reed with a dash of Canard. Came down to 4 pts between RV & Reed.
2012 was the same but without Canard. RV ran away it after Reed challenged him early.

2001 MX for me. Pastrana, Langston, and Brown in the 125. RC was still in a points battle halfway in the 250’s and wasn’t as dominant then. Then the last round was an absolute banger, IMO the best race ever!

SX: 2011
MX: 2006.
Honestly could make a case for 2011 again, too bad Chadapault happened.

Was that Steel City when RC dropped down to break Barnett's 125-wins record? THAT was a classic race. Bummed for Langston at the time.

2013 MX, Tomac broke Roczen, coming from -20 points to win the championship by 59-points.

2012, the dominant 250 MX riders were the future of the sport:

* Baggett
* Roczen
* Tomac
* Musquin
* Barcia

AMA:

2001 & 2003 125 MX.

&

2011 both 450 SX and MX.

MXGP:

2015 MX1 (Those few rds with RV were SO exciting - every race thread, every practice vid felt like a must watch etc)

2018 (Jeffrey in full beast mode - not activated to quite the same level since)

I'm bias because I started watching mx/sx in 2004, but for me nothing will beat 2005, 2006, or 2007 supercross and motocross in the 450/250 & 250/lites/125 class.
You had the obvious stewart, carmichael, reed, but you also had the rise of villopoto, the intro of dungey, and one of my all time favorites the 2005 season with tedesco. Watching tedesco on the pc bike win his 2nd regional title, then watching all the shit unfold outdoors, including the Alessi incident, it was awesome. To this day ivan tedesco is my favorite rider because of that season.

RC-CR-JS Those cats had uber amounts of pride and huge cahones. Every race was a win or die battle, the era of those 3 juggernauts was fun and exciting to watch.
