1) What brand are the hubs and what was the cost?
2) How long did you have to wait for the Yoshi? Full system or slip on?

Update on my messed up head/cams. Engine is torn down most of the way. The tech can find nothing wrong. Only thing left to check might be plugged oil screen, but the oil doesn't seem to have any debris in it so it seems unlikely. Plastic oil pump gear looks fine. There is oil in the passages, and none of the passages are plugged just lots of damage on the cams and head that look like it didn't get enough oil. I don't even want to fix it unless I can figure out what caused the problem. No point in dropping $1k+ to fix it just to have it go bad again, and I don't want to fit it and dump it on someone to have it blow up on them 5 hours later either.

Also Honda told the dealer they won't cover anything for any reason.
Currently trying to work out what bike I want next, Definitely won't be a honda after hearing about this.

I rode a 22 CRF250R couple weeks back and compared it to my 21 YZ250F. Motor and handling were just as good for me as my YZ. Honda motor revs up a little slower than the Yam but still is really good power off idle. I do prefer the actual frame flex/bump absorption feel of my Yamaha. That Showa suspension doesn't move as much as the KYB, even with the FC Revalve it had. Just a preference some people have. Honda clutch pull is still MUCH harder than the Yam. I love that YZ cable clutch. Favorite to date.

What made you go with the 120 over a 110?

Good question. It’s what I’ve ran on all my bikes for years now. Haven’t rode a 110 in a while. But with this bike I kept my stock rim/tire setup so I can swap between both sets at will and get an idea of what I like better where. I’m curious to see what I prefer where. This is also my first time on Pirelli’s.

so a guy crashes, the bike is pointing downhill on it side starving the oil on the critical side of the engine with engine running and its Hondas fault and you wont buy one? ...makes sense, but I dont think you would buy one anyway

I don't know for sure I had it laying on the side like that just that it could have been. It is a design flaw though since Kawi, KTM, and Suzuki seem to be concerned enough about it to put a tip over sensor in their bikes. Honda should have known since at least the 2018 model it is a potential problem.

What else can go wrong that they won't cover? I guess you have to wait to find out. Yamaha, Kawi, and KTM all give 30 day warranties at least. Honda officially gives nothing. If it blows up in the parking lot after you sign the paperwork they may or may not cover it. Is that really a company you want to support?

I support whoever and whatever I damn well like, given this is a one off there are no reports of any other failures like yours....thats says a lot to me....

Tell you what part out the honda and buy another brand that way we stop you ranting about a failure that was 100% likely caused your your own crash and wanting Honda to pay for the damage incurred

I don’t know that I had the bike on its side just right to kill the oil flow to the head it is just a possibility. My 2019 never had that problem, and it spent a lot more time laying on its side than this bike did. It could still have been a manufacturing defect but there is no way to know for sure since that part of the cam and head is toast. There were already pictures like mine posted of another 250 (unknown year) and at least one 2021 450 that apparently had the same failure.

I sure wish I had read someone ranting about these failures before buying mine.

Let me know what you think of it on this bike. I did not think the Honda had enough torque to pull a 120, but with your mods it might be just right. I guess the stock Yamaha is rolling a 110, so 120 is probably good on a modified motor.

I love the Pirelli’s. Had them on my Yamaha and glad they were stock on this bike. 14 PSI. What I like is the traction is more progressive, so you can feel the front end slipping and adjust, where the Dunlops just seemed to be all or nothing.

Also, hit me up if you end up selling that suspension...I used to not get why older dudes spent so much money on bikes. Now I am 34 and I get it. Why buy a Porsche or whatever when you can basically built a factory level bike for 20k.

Good points, I guess I’ve never had an issue with the extra resistance of the larger 120. I’ll update you when I can!

I’ve always been a Michelin guy. Then tried Hoosier. I like how you describe the Pirelli’s. That gets me excited!

I’m telling you, once you’ve had a ENZO tuned KYB AKIT PSF-1 air fork you’ll never be able to ride anything else. I now have them on 2 of my bikes. The kit shock though, which I have 2 of also, it’s really not worth it, just my opinion on that though along with some friends who have had them too.

Ask @ML512 or the Star racing Yamaha factory team haha.

Figured I would post a pic of my bike, today was the first time I took it to the track.

Couple posts above the VHM dyno post is this exact bike.
Bought it beginning of November but saved it until the Dutch rain season calmed down just a little 😂

Had a good time adding nice things to it but today was just smiles all around the track!!

I just ordered one of those intakes. I’m curious/excited to see what difference it will make.

I can not tell you the difference unfortunately, did not ride the bike in stock form other then 4/5 months ago at the Dutch Honda test day.

Runs cleaner, little more throttle response. I’ve been running T4 in the last 3 bikes I’ve had. It’s more expensive, but burns much better than the trash pump gas in my area. I’ve heard really good things on the renegade fuel but haven’t tried it myself. Once I get the vortex tuned to the T4 I’ll be curious to see how that combo works as well.

Finally got out and took it for the first ride. The low end torque on this bike was quite impressive, it’s right on par with the 2019 yz250f I’m coming off of. I’ve heard people mention a stiff clutch, but again I’ll say it’s right on par with the yz250f I just left. The bike corners a lot better than the Yamaha did and the front brake, the front brake is impressive to say the least lol. You don’t need much to stop quick. My only spot where I say it’s not as good as the Yamaha, is so far the frame feels a little stiffer then the Yamaha frame did. But I’m gonna make a couple of adjustments and go for another ride tomorrow.
