This company seems to have been working on this bike for the last couple of years, and they do have some pedigree with legitimate gas bikes that are actually meant to be raced. I believe it is owned by some French riders/enthusiasts who wanted to offer more affordable bikes.

The motor on the e-Race is a version of a very common 4-speed manual (meaning with clutch) electric motor that is basically an electrified clone of a low-end Honda 125 motor used in the extremely common Cubs (and their derivatives) sold throughout Asia.

Since this one is developed more specifically for this bike, I hope it holds up much better than the more common version found on Alibaba. Apparently they are fairly fragile internally.

Anyway, I'm glad there are more companies making e-bikes. This one probably won't beat an ICE equivalent in any category, but for a backyard track or some trail rides it could be effective.

Was curious how a gear box would fit into the frame with an electric motor, this configuration looks top heavy though. Wonder if the gear box will potentially give the bike the longer run times we all want?

It pretty much is, but I don't see what's wrong with that. Provided everything works as it should, the only major flaw to the design is that the battery placement would make the bike a bit top heavy.

But if there was a solid conversion kit that allowed me to keep my current bike/setup but just replace the ICE motor with electric, I'd jump on it. Why reinvent the wheel with the chassis? Maybe just reinvent some spokes.

There are some smaller companies working on conversion kits, and plenty of DIY guys out there doing their own, but the power, durability and ease of installation simply aren't there...yet. The company that figures those issues out and makes them affordable will do very well.

Just the innovation factor. There’s ways to save weight by using a non traditional frame a la stark.

Yes look at the stark they don’t use a down tube and instead the motor is used as a stressed member

Agreed, but the the Varg will cost $12,000. Developed from the ground up. The BHR is listed at about $8500. Do your own conversion on an existing ICE platform and you're looking at about $4000, for a tried and true frame, chassis, etc.

Electro and Co is one small US company that a lot of people are using for conversions:

About $1100 for motor, controller, throttle and volt meter. Batteries are the most expensive part.

If there was bolt on kits to use like RC cars where you can swap between ICE and E-platforms would be awesome.
Mounting plates for basic Honda/Yamaha should be pretty standard as models run many years, just to get proper kit seems just too early days?

One plus side BHR E-enduro model is that you can register it for road/trails use.

I have built an electric dirt bike from a CRF250 chassis. The battery is in the ssame location and the bike handles amazing. An electric motor has such minimal centrifugal force, even with the battery in the location of a rotating piston, it feels unbelievably light and easy to ride.

I used an ME1304 and BAC 8000 controller. I am doing another CRF chassis with a QS V3 motor. For awhile, I will swap battery back and forth to compare. Just finishing a water colled heat sink to test if controller heat is my issue. Performance is good and like I said,handles amazing and so much fun to ride.
