I called a local dealership about a Honda CRF 250R since they had one in stock, I was told the price would be $9600 OTD. Is this not a little crazy?

$8099 MSRP
$500 Destination/Freight
$299 Assembly
$533 tax
$168.12 unaccounted for LOL (must be for his pocket)

Is this normal right now? I really want a Yamaha but there aren't many in stock, this dealer said it would be a while. I called another dealer that lists having a 2021 and 2022 in stock and the lady said they wouldn't have another one in until May. Honestly though, If I'm going to be dropping $9,500 for a bike (before financing) I'm probably just gonna buy a used 2-3 year old bike for $5,000-$6,000 cash.

Yeah, it sucks right now.

I had to call about a half dozen dealers last March when I was shopping for my 21 YZ250F. A bunch of places wanted $10k+ out the door and wouldn’t budge. Managed to find a dealer about 2 hours away that sold me the bike for $8170. That included sales tax, freight, dealer setup, and title fees.

Just keep shopping around and remember that you can walk away from a deal you don’t like. I know people who have driven 1,000 miles round trip to get a bike or car recently at a reasonable price.

Called a pretty well-known dealership in the area on an MC250F and got $10,600. CRF250R from a different dealer was $9,700.

My local shop has a $1900 negotiable freight and set up fee. Not really negotiable if you actually want the bike.

no thats not normal.

MSRP + OEM designated freight + 100 or less for setup = OTD price.
Use a local bank to finance and "pay cash" at the dealer. Go across state lines to avoid tax. Good luck. Picking up my 2022 mc350f in the morning and the otd was 10,018.

Remember, the ride doesn't end until you all stop letting dealers/homeowners/grocers/etc stop spanking you.

If you want a two stroke I'll sell you my '21 yz250. Things absolutely mint.

Unless your racing and trying to get some contingency $ go with your second thought. Find a vet owned or low hr. used bike. Pay 5/6 G cash, have fun and have no payments.

It is what it is. And since Covid the great rebates we once had at certain times of the year is either non existent, or in the toilet. I mentioned this in another post. If you are in no hurry, keep checking Facebook Marketplace. Something will pop up with under 10 hours. Last summer I purchased a 19 and 20 Yz250f. One had 6 hours and the other had 5. Both in showroom new condition for $6k each.

That’s exactly what I paid for my ‘22 crf250r. It was the best deal I could find. Everyone else wanted a little over $11k.

I paid around that for my mc250f. Sucks but the demand is high and they won’t have a problem selling them

Mind sharing what dealer you are using? I’m not in the market currently but we live in the same area and I don’t have any experience with dealers here since we moved two years ago.

This is true to a extent…obviously can’t stop buying food, but everything else people need to take a f-ing break from buying shit they don’t really need (or can wait on)…To break this nonsense.

A $5-6k bike is going to be at least 4 years old and in questionable shape. Buying a used 250f is a risky proposition, unless you know the guy.

I found a 2019 rmz 250 that looks like it has about 10-20 hours on it with a title for 6000. 2020 kx 250f with 10 hours looks a little more worn but still good shape 5800. Another 2020 kx 250f with 10 hours that looks good for 6200. All 3 have titles.

I’ve bought from Larsons before. He’ll ship the bike to you for $200 to $250 bucks.
He likes to move bikes. Usually not a lot of those BS fees.

Supply chain talk in non sense. There is no freight to haul, 14 hrs + trying to get a ld leaving the biggest freight hub in America. Just because tv shows ya some ships sitting to come into port. Waiting on a import release or extremely lazy and slow port workers. Those lds pay nothing, I pulled lds out of tiny warehouses that the port drivers bring there. They get paid nothing that’s another reason containers don’t leave the port.

Not all dealers fuck you on fees and high price, but they can be a bit hard to find. Shop around.
My brother is a Polaris/Kaw/TM dealer here.
They've been in business since 1974.
He's old school, minimal fees and the price they quote is out the door.

Maybe thats why so many people still buy there and he has so many repeat customers. Seems like some dealers are taking the fees to a whole new level.

He has some new KX's on the floor, including a KX450 SR.

Name of dealer? Brothers name? Might be worth the drive.

Ridersville? We got my wife’s KLX140L there. Great people to deal with. Too bad they don’t sell Yamaha.

Romney is where I got my YZ. Also in WV.

I called 3 other Honda dealers today and one yamaha dealer. The sales guys were busy at the Yamaha dealership but that was an hr ago now so thought I would have heard back by now.

Ridersville $8099 otd (cash) if i titled the bike it would be $8585
Dealership 1- $9509
Dealership 2 - around 9500

I think I know where I will be going if I want the Honda. Wish they sold Yamaha.

I saw they had rmz 250fs for 7000 I think after fees and tax it was like $7800, this is with the $500 cash discount suzuki offers.

Not all of them, that is 3 bikes out of probably 200 Ive looked at over the past 5-6 weeks. The one kx has an hour meter showing 9.5 hours. The Suzuki has an hour meter too but the guy didnt post a pic of the hour meter, just said low hours.

I am looking at the bike with "9.5" hours on Facebook right now. That thing is whooped. Look a the wear on the current front tire, she is a road warrior. Bent subframe and coal dust are a give away to the past life of that bike haha.

Call Romney Cycles in WV if looking for a Yamaha. Camp Hill in PA is pretty good as well, but I haven’t bought from them during covid times. But they are the last two dealers I got Yamahas at.

Back in August I bought a 22' YZ250f and the OTD price was right around $10k. It sucks that they tack all the fees on but they told me they wouldn't budge. They would've sold it quick at that price if I didn't buy it

I don't think it's that bad, but I removed it from my top 3 contenders for a used bike earlier this week. It's a little further away and I question the 9.5 hours since it looks to have more wear than the other 2. I found a 2017 for cheap that looks good shape, but its 1.5 hours away and there's only one pic.

The Suzuki is the bike I want the most based on pics but I want to pay a little less than $6k for it since it's a 2019 and want to see the hour meter. The guy said he would try to get me a pic of the hour meter over the weekend.
