I agree but comparing these injuries is like comparing apples to oranges. People's bodies handle injuries different. Ken has made it known that most his complications have been from the surgeries and the negative effects it has had to his immune system. It's not really fair to say this person did this and that person did that when there are so many variables with injuries. Look at Zach Osborne. People didn't really know much about his bad back and then all of a sudden, he's retired.

I do agree he rides more on the careful side after the accident. There have been so many times he just gets passed easily and just lets it happen where other top guys turn it up that last 5% they have and give it all. Lacking that little extra 5% keeps him away from the tittle.

Let's no forget his arm was pretty jacked up.

"Comparing these injuries is like comparing apples to oranges" I think furthers the point that yz133rider is trying to make. The media has always made an abnormally large deal about Roczen's injuries because on the surface and after all the videos that have been made about it, it is obvious that it was very, very gnarly. But to simply look at that and assume no other rider has had it as bad as him because his "seems" the worst is a bit foolish. Take Tomac's double shoulder injury for example. We really got no insight as fans into how bad his injury was and what went into recovery, all we know is that though all of 2016, he wasn't quite the same guy he was before. But because Tomac didn't get a ton of attention from the media about it, we assume it wasn't nearly as bad as Roczen's. (I'm not saying it was as bad, just pointing out how our awareness to rider injuries and adversities is largely influenced by media).

Yeah just for the record, with an injury like Roczen’s there’s talk of amputation for a time. Don’t even try to compare it to any kind of shoulder injury. Whether It’s both shoulders or not, torn ligaments or broken. Unless bones are sticking out of his shoulders in multiple spots it’s not even a comparison to Roczens injury.
"Don't even try to compare it to any kind of shoulder injury" you missed the point, again. If you read my comment, I say that i'm not implying that tomac's injury was as bad as, or worse than, Roczen's. My point was simply that our view of rider injuries is heavily media-based. Perhaps Pourcel or Canard would be better examples, but my point still stands.

Bad analogy- Windham not in the title chase 03-08? Results:

03- 2nd MX
04- 2nd SX/ 3rd MX
05- 3rd SX/ 2nd MX
06- 2nd MX
08- 2nd SX

Not exactly just cruising around padding the bank account. Even in 2008 SX he only finished 13pts down on Reed.

I enjoy watching Kenny ride and race!
I think he is not gelling with bike!

If so, that's on him.

MC almost won the title in 97 after having two weeks to test before the first round, with a mechanic who was unengaged, and a terrible platform to start with.

He's had months, the bike should be fine.
MC also said if he would of won that title he would of stayed with Suzuki.
Oh what could have been…. That Suzuki of Troy bike is still one of my favorites!!!
Don’t ever recall him ragging on the bike to much……. Just that it was down on power.
Mitch kept going back to the drawing board.
Oh have times changed.
Riders cry about their bikes.
I agree. If the bike is not set up correctly, it’s on that rider.
Factories pay people the big bucks to watch riders practice, qualify, and race.
They are there to steer rider x in the right direction.

Bro, I was there. Chad wraps it up a round early in 08 if yamabog doesn’t happen. And all the other years? RC wrapped those titles up a minimum of a round early. Not exactly nail biters. No one thought Kevin was going to win those titles.

I actually think its a really good analogy. Ken has consistently been in the top 3 in points and won races. his series results look a lot like Kevin’s from that era

Kevin also got weirdo results, look at A1 in 04, racked up a 9th. Then won the next weekend.

What's so wild to me is that 94 has the best average starts, has gone down twice because of run-in with another rider, and still gets "he's done forever" slapped onto him. Of course, he isn't riding defensively & hasn't been pushing when coming from them back. Does he look top notch? No.

But, meanwhile, we've got Cooper Webb out there looking like any other average, middle-of-the-pack rider & he's got people saying "awh nah, no need for panic button yet."

Point being: Does Roczen look better than Coop? Absolutely not.
But he doesn't look a lot worse than him either.

’m a Huge @js7 Fan.
What’s funny to me here though, is the fact that ALL the same smack Talk he & his crew didn’t like hearing back in his day, he himself is saying now about 1 of his fellow peers.
I find this ironic to say the least!!

I agree with JS7.

Yep...not a good sign. I hope I'm wrong, but the "I don't have to be out there, ya know." statement is the killer.

For those that truly believe that 2nd place is just 1st loser...they yes, Kenny is done. If you see the sport as needing all the racers out there going at it...then Kenny has several years of top 10 finishes left in him (lots of podiums, too).

A lot of riders made a good living even when MC, RC, JS were dominating. The way some people talk...if you ain't winning...just gtfo.Sad
