Most of the factory teams that are partnered with Dunlop are on some sort of proto or tire that differs from production. Most are based on the MX33, with different rubber compounds or carcass. Supercross puts some unusual strain on tires, so some of these changes are to work with the rigors of SX. Some are to learn more about how the MX33 works with these changes, and then there's tires like Roczen's here that are currently a race only. A version of it could eventually make it to production or it may stay a race only item depending on feedback.

Wow, I was thinking about that scene in On Any Sunday when I started reading your post and then you said they are grooving their tires again. Do they still use a razor blade like the movie?

I asked a friend of mine that tests for Dunlop and he said they are working on a MX34, but it's a ways out.

On a different note, I tried the Pirelli MX32 rear on the 250f lately, and it is one hell of a tire for soft and semi hard dirt.
IMO it is on par if not a bit better than the Dunlop MX 33 rear.

Never used a Pirelli before this.

I thought I also read something somewhere about ET3 running a Dunlop on the front I've never heard of- my memory says it was labeled "759"(I could off on that number). Any input on this ML512?

The ClubMX guys are also doing it as seen in Troll Trains Vlog.

True - I only have about an hour on the rear Pirelli and it is rounding off quicker than I expected, I thought it was because all the rocks at Glen Helen...

Anyone else here ever cut a fresh edge on the leading side of their rear tire knobbies? With some WD-40 and a fresh razor blade, you can knock out a rear in about 25 minutes. Did that many times when I was a broke ass kid!

i watched the video also and his mechanic said it was a 768… i started searching pretty quick and couldn’t find anything so it must be a factory spec tire of some sort.

Once you get past that initial edge wearing off they last quite a while. It reminds me of an AT81 that way. The Pirellis wear about as fast as the Michelin or the MX3s. The 33 lasts a really long time. I bought a used bike with 33s on it with 20 hours and they look like a Pirelli or Starcross 5 at 5 hours.

If you get in really soft stuff including sand that Pirelli is better than anything except a dedicated sand tire.

When I run SC5’s and I lose the og siping, I take a cut off wheel on my grinder and add a sipe to each lug, and flip the tire. Really wakes the tire back up for a couple last rides before they are toast

I sipe all my worn rear tires with different cuts in the middle tread. But hell does it help? Don’t hurt.

Barona is a rock factory.
When I raced there in the mid 70's for a minute, the riders would track walk and clear rocks from the track.

I never much liked the 756. The front I had no confidence in and the rear wore quickly.

Which was disappointing cos I really liked the 752 back in the day.
I’m yet to spend any real time on the Pirelli MX32 MS & MH but the older MS32 was a great tyre.

Bridgestone have a new X30 coming I believe. I hope they’ve dropped some weight. If they have it’ll be great I’m sure.
