Octopi media snagged a pretty full photo sequence of the moment...the more I look at it, the more surprisd I am that El Hombre managed to ride that one out.

Blame Pie is 50/50 for me. Move was a little aggressive for the area, but roczen went wide leaving the door open.

Watching the race it looked to me like their lines just merged. That line Anderson took was staying mid track for during the 250 moto. It looked like they reworked it between races. But looking at the sequence shot I wonder if Anderson would have even stayed on the track if he hadn't pinballed off Roczen. That looks brutal.

I laughed when I saw it, I think he certainly tried to avoid it but there was a point when they got close that his body position changed to “let’s goooooooo” and that was it for Kenny

Not the cleanest pass but Ken should have known El Hombre was going to keep it pinned if he gave him the inside. One of these guys is hungrier than the other.

man the stands are empty.

Was just reading about how the University of Utah basketball program's attendance is cratering as are a lot of other schools sports attendance. People's entertainment standards are high and the quick fix of Tik Tok is strong.

Just looking at those 3 photos, not even clicking the link you can clearly see he had zero intention of making a clean pass. Everyone was going inside or outside. I didnt see many inside cut across to outside without it being a mistake. Jason would have been off the track quite possibly if it wasnt for ken being there. In the first photo Ken was already at the point of I'm fucked. He has 2 choices grab a hand full of brake and hope Jason misses his front wheel which is highly doubtful or power through and hope you come out of it on 2 wheels. I'm all for block passes and late race take outs but it's starting to get to a point where it's getting questionable and might need a little attention. There's a big difference in just blasting guys out of the way when you catch them with a lot of time/laps left and blasting a guy out of the way after a lap or 3 behind them trying to make a clean pass. Jason's been know his whole career like Barcia for knocking people out of the way. But ken went wide left the door open and this is what you can get for it. Thats moto 101. If I'm Kenny next round I'm punting Anderson into the cheap seats mid to late in the race if he's around me. A good loss of points for aggressive riding will take a little wind out of team friends sails and think more about the end goal. The title. Which I think he might get this year.

I noticed during the race and replay that Ken went from the outside line back toward the middle. Looks like the track crew put a tuff block in what once was the outside line. Not saying they are responsible for the outcome, but it now makes more sense why the outside line hooked back in like it did. Awesome set of photos, and amazing Jason didn't go down, too.

2 lines going into one, riders exit at the same time where lines merge. Normal racing stuff

I have a highly unpopular opinion.

Ken hit Jason.

Look at the odd square off Ken does at this point:

I don't see how Jason could have anticipated that. When Kenny squared off, Jason saw it happening, and Jason committed to the contact.

They changed that sand section up a little bit each time they worked on the track. They never showed a good overhead shot that allowed me to really understand what the options looked like, and how they lines shape up on the corner exit. In fact, all the TV angles showed the corner entry and we never really got to see what the exit looked like.

Early in the night, the inside line in the sand section seemed to be the preferred line. At some points, it seemed like it was the only line through there. It seemed to me, as the night went on, more riders preferred the outside line.

Like I said, I can't say that I understand what the lines looked like on the corner exit.

My impression is that there was an outside line that would have avoided contact, and Roczen started the corner in that line, then squared off to a corner exit line that caused contact. Jason took an inside line that would have avoided contact....until Roczen squared it off.

Blame pie 80/20 ROCZEN.

I see what you are saying.

The Monster tuff block that is closest to the camera in that picture is clearly on the inside of what used to be a berm/rut.

Not sure when it appeared there, but if it was put there between laps, that would account for Ken's sudden and awkward square off line change.

In the heats the lines were separate. Ando just came in there so hard he blew out the berm.

Outta the way, Ando train coming through!

Fresh Deep Sand is an Equalizer. No rider got through the sand clean. There is no "line", the sand is always moving. Fresh Deep Sand does not pack and rut like Dirt. They practice every day on on tracks prepped to standard. Triple 64 feet. Whoops 13 top to top. Sand has taken down alot of riders. Keep the Sand!

Roczen could've easily gone inside. How many years has he been racing guys like Anderson and Barcia?

Man! With that second to last picture, it's incredible that Anderson did not fall too!

Roczen is out there in the rough man, no telling what his bike was going to do. When I watched it on TV it just looked like the berm blew out that Anderson was in/on but the pictures from the front look a bit different. You would think Roczen would've gone inside.

That's a sick picture.

I like your unpopular take. I saw Ken go wide, then get a little squirrely and bounce back into the line Ando was in. Come at me Bros!

If you saw Jason's face on the podium, he was actually pissed; because, that IS NOT what he wanted.
Did he want to pass Ken? Uh, hell yes!

But, he didn't want this outcome. He DID NOT want to put Ken on the ground.

Listen...if you have ever ridden deep sand like that you only have some influence in the turn...not total control. I think he intended a strong block pass vs a total take out. It looks like Jason blows through his line AND Kenny jumps right some. Again...not total control....but in the end Anderson cleaned him out...but like I keep saying. KR keeps letting everyone make him their little bitch. He did it again and next race he won’t do anything about it. It’s why Coop was able to steal a title from him and why he will never be a big bike champ.

Also, on the KR topic, Honda is the exact wrong team for him and always has been. They, Japan, puts enormous pressure to win championships, more direct pressure then any other make, and Kenny is the worst at mentally handling that sort of pressure. Hence...he buckles when the title is on the line. It’s too bad...Kenny could have accomplished more.

btw...You don’t have to agree because you are allowed to be wrong.😜

Correct, but I think he still could have just owned it.

Like, "I REALLY wasn't trying or looking for that outcome, our lines came together and it happened. I feel bad that it is twice in a row now, but that was just a racing incident...:

No need to feel bad (in my opinion).

He was faster, caught Ken, and their lines came together.

That is almost verbatim what Jason's podium speech was.

"I didn't want to be that guy, but tonight I was"

Nope, making people subject themselves to draconian rules when there is zero need for them is killing attendance. Utah has gone full Utard.

Didn’t Anderson say it was his fault? In his podium talk he seemed to regret it.

Third option: Utah's basketball program is not competitive and college kids are fickle.

WTF? You can literally see the line he is taking right in front of him, he didn’t make a new one!
