Like Friese does and ride 250 west / 450 east?
Whats the criteria needed to be able to do it?
I mean looking at a guy like Bogle, maybe he could do wonders again in the 250 class, PC could use some help..

I thought it would be cool if Chad rode 250’s if he wanted to race more.. Shorter races, small series.. would be rad to see him battling up front.

I know you’re only spit balling, but considering he only rode the class a total of one year as a pro because he had to, and hated it, i think that’s very very unlikely.
However, if they pulled their thumb out of their asses and made the class equal displacement, then you may be on!

I wouldn't be surprised if it became the normal thing to do for the next few years for riders on teams like club mx, sgb, mcr(not jb) and the likes.
There riders are only just just making mains and often missing them.
If they have a guy in 250s for each coast and they are getting top 10s. That would be better for the teams and there sponsors.

As for the criteria a rider cannot race 250 sx if they have won a 450 championship of any kind.
If they have won a 250 sx championship or pointed out.
There also not ment to move down if they were in the top 15 in the championship in the previous 2 years. But they can request the ama to allow them. Freise must have done that as he was top 15 in 2020.

Personally I would like to see Garrett marchbanks race a 450 on the east coast.

It would not bother me one bit. Some riders just ride the small bike way better. Just finished listening to the Fly Moto 60 Show. I agree with what Steve said. Something needs to be done about the 250 class. Don’t know what, but something.

How about a pro class riding any displacement you want, and a support class or tier 2 class riding any displacement you want? I know pros in the 450 class who are adamant they are faster on a 250. 🤷‍♂️

I think the majority of PRO rider prefer the 450, but it does create another opportunity for these guys to make money so I am for it.

Cost more money to race 250 s .that's why 450 s are great for the privateers ,u can be very competitive on a stock engine

Wouldn't mind seeing AMart going back down to 250's. Was he pointed out?

No, he moved up willingly. After watching the latest Troll Train, I was thinking he should drop back down and race the 250 on the East and move Garrett up to the 450 since he's essentially out of the title hunt in the West.

I think it's a weak move. Pretty much admitting "hey I can't hack it with the big boys so I'll go back down and race with the kids."

Friese has always been a tool but now an even bigger one for moving down.

Huh, if they are faster on it what's stopping them from kicking the big guns asses on their little 250? Im pretty sure no rule says you have to ride the 450 in that class ...

Yep no rules. Many have and one is currently racing the 450 class on a 250.

It used to be the norm for guys in the 90s, mostly those not contracted to a factory team to race 125 and 250 many times at the same event

That move should be known as “The Barry Carsten”

What class do you race?

If the rider doesn't have a decent program, riding the 250 class is a bit of a waste IMO. He will have a massive horsepower deficit to the factory guys, and the payouts are way less as well. For someone like Friese it works, because he's on a team giving him a good bike and his contract has good incentives (allegedly) for good results.

A kid like Karnow who is a pretty talented rider but without a lot of support, the best thing he can do is get a 450 and ride the east coast. Injuries will happen, the 450 field will thin out and if he can get 1-2 mains he'll make as much money as 9 races in the 250 class. Then maybe next year he has the confidence to just race 450.
