Tomz, I always loved your events.. we had so much fun racing all over the world back then.
I remember when I rode the ATK project one season , it was a completely one off bike (single down tube, aluminum gas tank, honda suspension, twin radiator, ect) handled like a dream but it was so slow. I went thru a motor every weekend practically. But it was still a fun adventure .

Thanks ! I remember that bike. Seemed like that frame had a lot of flex if I remember correctly. All great memories. It would be fun to get a group of old friends together at some point.

S1GP (fim world series) will add the euro S2GP bikes to the S1GP races to increase bike count... CuZ its "the same bikes"ISH.
I think they are using it as the "rookies" or something like that but for 2022 we are having the 12 world S1 bikes PLUS the +18 euro S2, which is cool! still no races outside europe, tho Smith won over Chareyer, FINALLY. Oh, how many years it took for someone to beat Chareyer... Jeeezz

Funny story, maybe 2013-14 I received an email from a team in Europe that wanted me to ride S1 for them that year. That's was awesome except the email went to my spam and I didn't find it until 2 years later🤦‍♂️.... still bummed to this day that I missed an opportunity like that.

Hey Brandon. Pretty sure I rubbed elbows with you out there a few times in 06! I was on one of the Husabergs.

Never made it in moto, but was able to "live the dream" of being a Pro rider for a year there in SM.

06 was great being mid-west based with 3 races in WI, 1 in MI, 1 in TN. Only long road trips were double header in CO, 1 in UT, and 2 in CA. Was good times for sure!

You got over to ride Mettet one year though didnt you ?

And your idea of funny and mine are not the same.

World Championship now is almost pointless, its too expensive, and there arent enough well funded rides to make it a proper job.

I rode mettet 3 times , my best finish 16th overall. Which I thought was pretty damn good since there were so many fast guys. Then did supermoto of nations in 2014

I went to several of the supermotos at Sturgis. They were held after the rally in September I think. Closed off the city street, buillt a dirt jump or two and had at it. It was great to watch because you were close to the racing and could go about anywhere to watch. Pits were wide open. Got to talk with Dymond a couple of years in a row, what a great guy he is. I had not talked with him since he was a 125 Honda ridger in MX back in the 80's.

Doug Henry was the grand marshall at one of the races and he took time to talk with people most of the day.

I will miss it, was hoping it would come back from the Covid shutdown to Sturgis but not to be I guess.

I have ridden there since 2002, with an odd year away.

It was me that ran Michelle Disalvo when she first came over on the SXV450 , she did good enough to stay , and had a couple of seasons in Europe.

16th is awesome, its the best field in the world.

Did you get to ride the street circuit at Mettet or just the new track?

We must have met and spoken, even if it was just briefly.

For a few years, they ran an annual Supermoto event near the CBD in Newcastle/NSW/Australia.
It was cool and unique. Jumping castles etc in the park. It was introducing SM, and bike racing generally to a different audience.
(This pic from 2016. The bike was already “old”. I upgraded to a brand new one the next year…..Didn’t go any better..)

I'm not a supermoto racer, but I play one on the streets around my house.

I drove the semi for TLD for a few races (amybe 5-7 races?) as a fill-in driver. The races were well run and seemed like the people enjoyed the show.

The atmosphere was low key and the racing was usually pretty good. Sad to see the series go away.

Also got to work the X Games as a refueler for TLD the year they did mandatory pit stops in super moto. Good times.

I ran Troy Lee over in the first turn at Laguna Seca AMA round. Not ideal, but it was all on him.
