Question:
In the market for new boots. Are there boots in the $300 range that fit a little wide? Currently looking at the Leatt 4.5, but can’t find any to try on. Replaceable sole would be a plus.

Backstory:
I’ve worn cheap ($200) Fox boots for years because I’m a spode and they fit well. Usually replace them once per year when the soles get trashed.

Wanted to step it up last year, so I bought some Instincts. Thought they might fit like the cheap ones. Figure $200 per year on boots works ok, but maybe get two years out of a $300-$400 boot and come out ahead?

Well, they weren’t even close. Much physical pain ensued just walking around the house trying to see if they’d break in. They never did so I sent them back and bought the cheap Fox Comp boots again. Fit like a glove.

For reference I wear 12EE or 13EE work boots. Feet are wide near the toes and also tall above the arches.

Guarne SG12. Expensive though. Not sure about their lower level boots but Guarne are roomier than Alpinestar in the toe box. I was uncomfortable in Alps.

Gaerne GX-1s are a great boot. Wide and about $260.

Gaerne Fastbacks are fantastic but a little over your target. Stock is also spotty ATM.

Both of those are wide, and usually last a lot longer than bonded sole boots.

Hope that helps.

Really appreciate the feedback, guys. I didn’t even know where to start looking. Gaerne sounds promising!

Love my new SG12s, I have post thrombotic syndrome (permanent swelling in my ankle and leg )as well as wide feet and they fit great. I would recommend trying a set on first though

If you have a problem locating your size Gaernes, try contacting them directly. They’re great people and will help you locate a pair.

Good luck & enjoy your new boots!

Forma Predator 2.0

Super great price, super durable, and great for my wide feet.

I just switched from Tech 10s to SG-12s, and they actually feel a little bit too roomy for me. They’ll be great for you.

How do Forma boots fit, length wise, compared to Gaerne? Is a certain size in one the same or vastly different than the other?

I feel like the Forma boots are slightly roomier in length as well; I switch back and forth, and actually prefer the Forma when it's cold just for comfort. Both are great boots though...

Atomic Moto is a great company. They will actually call you and have an actual discussion about riding gear. Who does that?

Thanks for the info. I wear Gaerne off road. Thinking of ordering Forma for my new street bike, but I don't have anywhere to try them on (in stock) around here. Not sure the sizing will even translate, dirt to street, but it at least gives me an idea for a starting point.

My boy has extra wide feet and he has like Acerbis boots. They seem to hold together good also and aren't crazy expensive.

I have both brands and they are roomy. Enough room for custom footbeds.

You get what you pay for. My SG12s are 6 years old and soles are still in good shape just starting to get chewed out, I have wider feet and large calves which made the SG12s perfect due to the adjustable calf. 100% recommend. Can sometimes find on sale for 400-500$
