Main event moto for $5 on Patreon per month? No freaking way. It’s not good enough yet imo. Also….I don’t want 3 different podcast apps on my phone. Spotify for Rogan, Sirius for stern, and podcasts for everything else. If I could give $5 and not have to dick around with Patreon I would pay. It will fade away . I’ll pay for the PulpMX app….but that’s the #1 motocross show (as per the poll and my guess). Pulp has earned it. Am I wrong on this assessment? Main event was listenable but not good enough for this yet

If The Steve Matthew show/ pulp Mx went to Patreon….there would be no question that I would pay
You are not wrong. Main event is going to 4 shows a week with video from Daniel, so I will consider paying for it because I appreciate moto content and pay far more than that for shit I don't watch, but am undecided for now. Matthes dominates because he doesn't care what anyone thinks. Everyone else openly states "they have to balance the relationship so the riders will talk to them" whereas Steve treats it like actual journalism......journalism, not national enquirer.

Note: You can get almost all of them on Spotify including Pulp. I prefer the Overcast player for everything other than Rogan and only listen to him depending on the guest.

Note #2 and question: Will Bubbas World always be on Swap Moto's feed like the first one?

not throwing shade, but no shot they stick to 4 shows per week. throughout the course of the podcast there's been so many 'new formats' and shit that they quickly abandon. not to mention their other non-moto podcast, etc. i can relate—ideation is fun, but execution sometimes isn't as much.

i haven't missed an episode, but won't be paying unless i somehow clear out my backlog of other stuff i've in my queue. absolutely no qualms with the move though, and bet they'll back off it.

also, i'm neutral on his broadcasting, but 100% prefer him as a co-host on pulp to doing his own shows. matthes brings the best out of him (maybe others do, but jim holly and dan from race day live sure don't).

My favorites are the Racer X race review podcasts and the MX Vice podcast.

I used to be a massive fan of the full Pulp show but i can't remember when i last time listened to a full show. I have lost interested in it, there is just too much fluff and nonsense that i have grown tired of. I guess that is what happens after 400+ shows and days of listening through the years. But the YouTube channel with short videos or time stamps is great for us that doesn't have time or want to listen to the whole show!

Inside the rut was awesome but it no longer exists, the Ben Riddle episode was great, I had never heard of him before I listened to it.

I enjoy the shit out of WTS due to the documentary style format and being able to finally get all of the BTS info that the moto mags from 70’s-90’s simply didn’t cover. The Dave Arnold, Brian Lunniss and Dave O episodes are my faves so far.

I find it funny that people complain about Pulp having too much ads/fluff/ad reads and also want The Main Event podcast to be less censored, so they’re addressing both of those criticisms of the moto podcast world and people go “not paying for it”. You can’t expect these guys to just do shows for free and if/when they do, you shouldn’t be complaining about ads.

I think I’ll just switch my JT$ Patreon subscription to this new Main Event Patreon show since JT would only do about one, 15 minute show a week for $5 a month. Is these guys are doing multiple hour+ shows every week with video, $5 is a great deal!

I don't believe so, just the YouTube channel. I'd be curious to see what tom foolery he could come up with for an hour long pod lol

I think that is why I like it more and more weekly, because the relationships of the riders, co-hosts, and others builds weekly.....so the "fluff" is the reason the show is great and not just an interview or a review.

I discovered Pulp late, only a couple years ago but I've been making up for lost time and have listened to a large part of the archives. Its now become a can't miss for me, great way to pass the time at my desk while at work. The interviews are conducted well, good questions, good answers, lots of comedic relief in the majority of the shows. Makes me feel more connected to the sport for sure.

I've listened to quite a few of the Gypsy shows , but haven't tuned in recently. Depending on the guest, Jase's interview style changes and some of the interviews I was interested in I wasn't able to make all the way through just from the seemingly endless strings of "bro" , "like" and "dude's" which was unfortunate because he does get some really good takes and often he's able to dig deeper into the personal side of a guest's experiences. I'm sure he see's it as just getting them into a comfortable spot where they are more likely to share, it just makes it harder for a listener to focus on the actual conversation when it becomes that fragmented.

Enjoy the content Racer X and WTS put out as well, looking forward to more podcast's from Stew!

Main Event is about to learn that once you start charging people for a product, you better damn deliver. I like Daniel, but he's got a lot going on in life and I think they have made some big promises to deliver, but historically timeliness and execution has not been the strength of the show. Daniel, flying every week to races. Vincent, a full-time radiology tech. Dan, a guy with a small business in a tough time for supply. Apart from Producer Joe, I honestly think the rest will struggle to deliver.

I certainly won't be paying for the content unless it is truly proving to be delivered. FWIW, I have listened to every show since the start in 2016. I wish them well, but show me first.

As the title states, what's your opinion? We've got a poll below to rate your #1, even if you're not logged in you can still vote. Also curious of the reason why if you want to comment below.

Of course, some of these podcasters have multiple shows, but for this I'm going to place the poll options based off the parent show/host for the most part.
It's pulp all the way. But let's self promote here for a sec. In 2022 I will have an show to keep you up to date on the injuries in our sport. Search AlwaysMoto in your podcast app to listen. Might be a work in progress but no where else will make sense of the injury info.

The last Main Event Moto was pretty good. They talked a bunch about the sport and where they think each rider will finish. Good stuff on that one.

Listened to the Jeremy “J-Bone” Albrecht show last night while driving my 600 mile commute.
Ping does it right.

Also, whatever happened to the Pulp MX forum?

Should be up.. Friday. So look out for that

Pulp`s the best just for weekly content and always have a laugh

Ping is the best interviewer by far for me though, he is on Rogans level of connection and listening to the guests. Matthes always feels like his mind is on the next question and not always fully listening

I agree, and I think ping having the guests sitting next to him makes the interviews way better than the over the phone ones of the Matthes shows

Ping and Matthes for me

TWTS gets in depth with great guests and Ping carries the show easily on his own now GL has left

Matthes is well,Matthes. Enough said, always puts out good content

As a Brit I admit I cant listen to MX VICE,I have tried multiple times but Lewis Phillips voice is like nails down a blackboard to me,he tries far too hard to be funny too
Sorry Lewis Im sure you are a great bloke but I will never find out Im afraid

I wish them all good luck,we need them all in our sport

Vietnam Vic story is one of the funniest things I have heard. Could be a great bit in a stand up comedy routine.

Listened to main event for the first time yesterday, and man... I'm not sure if they were putting on an act to seem more "edgy" or if they are all really like that, Daniel always seems like a good guy when I've heard him on Pulp, but it doesn't seem like there are very many functional brain cells in that group.

Listened to swapmoto for the first time to get Hill's thoughts on the stark, and I couldn't get over how bad the audio was.

Whiskey Throttle is probably the best as far as single episodes, he really dives deep and gets great stories. They get off the rails sometimes and have spotty audio, but if you're interested in the interviewee, it's a must listen.

Pulp is generally pretty entertaining and informative with every episode, even if Steve can be an ass sometimes.

Not much desire to listen to Gypsy Tales just from what I've heard it described as, and after hearing Jase on Pulp, no way in hell am I going to feed into the "doesn't have to be factual, it's just entertainment" model.
