Yes and I was there. Rhode Island's one and only national MX. Rain forecasts kept people away. Guess where it didn't rain? Pine Top.

Watch the vid of that race on YouTube- what a cool track👍🏻
It was a ski hill as we don't have ski mountains in RI. LOL I rode a mountain bike there some years ago trying to find evidence of the track but all I found were ski area remnants. Said as on the same street we host national and world trials with guys like Tony Bou, but could never get the MX back as the ski area closed down. I can still smell the bean oil and listen to the bikes running up the hill.

If there's a stats guru who can find out the riders with the most podiums but 0 wins. That should narrow it down.

Steve Ramon
Won the world championship but didn't win a race that year?
Also a mention about Searles time in the mx1 class after showing Herlings a clean set of heels on more than one occasion during the mx2 class

From Racer X Vault. Just used the "Individual Races" tab which is based on Overall results for both MX and SX in all classes

Byrne probably takes the cake. 251 races and tied for a 450 overall win. So close.

Did Metcalfe seriously never win a 250/125 race? I could have sworn he did.

Just checked The Vault, and nope. Lots of 2nds and 3rds, but his only win in the US was at Southwick in ‘11 on a 450. Kinda surprising, actually.

Nope. If Podiums is the determining factor, Jim Gibson is the man.

(Again - all results taken from Racer X Vault individual races so considers only AMA overall wins)

Travis Pastrana in the 250 class. Never won a Supercross Main Event and never finished top 20 in the Nationals.
Holy cow you guys is anyone actually reading OP’s question? AMA Pro wins.
I am reading the OP and my answer was Travis Pastrana, as he never won an AMA Pro Race indoors or outdoors in the 250 class.

Nop, Ramon won two races and took world title, despite not winning a single Grand Prix that year,

The op is talking about an AMA pro race of any kind regardless of class . If they won a 125/250 regional SX main they're out of the conversation.
