Never following?
Looking for a hole in traffic?
Always try to break away from the other cars?
Holeshot at the light?
Maybe a little aggressive?

Racing tends to get all the 'go fast' out of my system, funny I was thinking about this topic the other day.

Aggressive but not fast. I take it out on the track. But I’m also hyper vigilant of what’s going on around me so I think I’m all it makes me drive safer

Whenever I drive home from a good ride, I'm more of a jacka$$ than normal in traffic until I realize I'm still in race mode.

Racing karts are the worst in this regard.

I drive like an old lady. Why would I rush? I leave on time. Speed is for the track

Not my driving, but my navigating through the airport definitely calls for getting the hole shot, picking your lines and looking for passing opportunities.

Not really. But it sure seems a lot of the people on the road could benefit from some sort of racing. The lack of awareness in dam near every driver is insane.

I’ve been told by my kids and a few others that I tailgate going into corners, brake late and accelerate through the turn.
Don’t drive to fast though.

Racing taught me to look way ahead…that is reflected in my driving because, for example, I’ll be looking a half mile down the rode, see a semi closing in on another semi, and I’ll floor it to pass them both before I have to slow down while the two semi’s have a turtle race to pass each other…where someone else would be living in the moment, looking 50 yards in front of them oblivious of the road block that is both a half mile down the road, and avoidable.

And sometimes when driving in cities…I’ll be looking two blocks ahead…and a couple times have almost ran a red light, because it was green when I looked at it a block ago, and the light a block down is green…

So basically, and you may not know it, but if you are on the road the same time, and in the same place as me, we’re in a race…I will try and pass you.

I'm very quiet on the road but I tend to race my shopping kart at the supermarket.

Yeah, if I want to be as slow as on the road, I'll buy a Suzuki.

Man, can't believe how clueless you are.

I think I drive mellower because my aggressiveness is out of my system.

....... until someone tailgates me or passes me and cuts me off, then it’s on like donkey kong. I can go into full blown Mr. Wheeler mode in a split second.

I guess I should have added if racing HELPS your driving, but it won't let me edit the poll

Racing definitely helps driving in my opinion. Looking ahead, quick reflexes, the ability to foresee what’s about to play out. I keep it under 10 over. After a day of riding or racing, I’m in much less of a hurry.

Definitely think it improves situational awareness and thinking ahead. I used to teach Dirt Bike School, and would tell the parents of early teen students that I believed this was one of the many benefits of riding. Now if we could just teach people to stay off their phones...

I got a smile when I read those 5 characteristics you listed because I am guilty of all. I can also do this while my wife is yelling in my ear that “this is not a race track”. I don’t regularly break any traffic laws but push the boundaries.

Riding a sport bike affects my driving. I almost never wait to pull out in traffic on a sport bike. A Daytona 675r is my daily driver my truck is a v6 and sometimes I forget and cut people off bad.

There was a thread a couple years ago about this. No way it doesn't effect how you drive. Like Titan said, you look much farther ahead

You'll have to pass me because I'm getting the holeshot!
