Is this the same clown that cried about DF selecting the number 14? Man, that sure was a bad look. DF did more running the 14 in one season than this pyramid scheme promoting bozo did in his entire career.

I don't need to understand it. When I see people talk about how much they have made off crypto they always tell me how much on top of their initial investment they are in terms of dollars. It is just speculative gambling. The people that swear by the bitcoin know good and well that when the time comes they will be selling their bitcoin back for a value based in USD.

PS. I've never met a single soul that has admitted to losing money in the crypto scene. Coincidentally, not a single one of my buddies has admitted to getting hosed after a night at the poker table.
I had lost some in crypto up until last yr, well i hadnt lost anything because I hadnt sold but my investment was down in value.

I invested in some alt coins in late 2017 which was when things were really getting pumped, so I bought at a high point. Keep in mind I only invested like $2600 then. I invested 2k last year and right now that 2k is worth $8500.

My only regret is not investing in 2018, 2019 and early in 2020 like my brother.

People want to laugh at crypto but it is an investment you can make lucrative money at.

I have been in the cryptocurrency space since 2013 - worked for an ICO company in London and spend 5-10 hours per week looking into the scams / fraudulent activity.

I could type out 50 paragraphs but here's my 2 pence (or cents to you lot):

- The price of cryptocurrency is likely MASSIVELY inflated by the USDT stablecoin (tether)

The company (Bitfinex/Crypto Capital) has printed $60 BILLION of these tokens with no-more than a pinky promise that they are backed by real dollars. They were caught lying and less than a few percent are backed by real dollars:

https://www.ft.com/content/529eb4e6-796a-4e81-8064-5967bbe3b4d9

Early correlation tethers printed out of thin-air & bitcoin price:

- Seely needs to very careful he doesn't fall foul of any legal issues

Many smaller token issuers are getting into serious legal troubles due to effectively listing unregistered securities

https://www.sec.gov/ICO

Definition of a security:

In doing so, the Supreme Court established four criteria to determine whether an investment contract exists. An investment contract is:

1. An investment of money
2. In a common enterprise
3. With the expectation of profit
4. To be derived from the efforts of others

People would be buying SEELY tokens using money into a specified entity with the expectation/hope that the value would increase as it gains in popularity from future buyers/investors.

Cole needs to be careful.

Interesting news. Please tell me it's not a pump-and-dump. There's been so much controversy around influencers and crypto scams. I'd hate to see Cole get involved in it. He has always seemed like a trustworthy dude but it's hard to trust these crypto endeavors, no matter who's backing them, at least for me. What are your thoughts?
sounds more like fans getting scammed than Seely getting scammed.

Interesting post, obviously you have good knowledge of some of the issues facing crypto currencies.

One question I am struggling with is why Altcoins have any value. I believe in the premises behind Bitcoin as I see it as completely different to all other coins. In my opinion it is the only true crypto that could be used as a store of value. Altcoins (even those that have utility), on the other hand, I cannot see why they have any value, as they have no scarcity. Lets say Ethereum is broadly adopted for for smart contracts, is there no reason why another coin/platform cannot adopt a similar function and provide the same service? If so I cannot see the value in the coin/token.

I could see this being lucrative for a rider like Ken Roczen who has millions of followers. Hard to imagine it working for Seely. Not a diss on Cole, it just seems more likely to take off for a moto megastar which there only a few n that category. All of this crypto is beyond this old mind

Would be interested in your thoughts on UST, UST is Terra's stable coin and completely decentralised and is an algorithmic stable coin. Who really knows what backs tether and they can just keep the printer going.

i like the idea of the blockchain and it has many purposes but all of this crypto stuff is just going to lead to a cashless society where everyone essentially is going to be forced to live on the grid.

there will be a digital dollar/euro/etc in the future once fiat currencys go bust and the economy will be "rebooted"

just remember..if you say or vote the wrong way, they can turn off your bank account/wallet and you will be forced to starve

This.

And wasting a shitton of the worlds energy for absolutely no reason at all.

Bitcoin was supposed to be this "bank free" currency and everything was supposed to be so great and free and you can use it anywhere and its the best thing in the world. We are 12 years deep at this point and all it has been doing is eating a fuckton of energy that could be used elsewhere and it isnt useful for anything.

Someone mentioned pyramid scheme and thats exactly what it is. Altcoins are even worse.

At least I believe that the Bitcoin creaters originally had good intentions and a dream of making a state/bank free currency only to have it fail to do that massively. These altcoin bullshit are just scams.
That’s not true at all, there’s been massive benefit from the creation of crypto currency and much more to come. It’s not so apparent to us because we come from countries with relatively stable currencies, but there are a lot of people all over the world that aren’t so lucky (looking at you Venezuela). Crypto offers a way out from the fake fiat currencies used across the world and removes your dependency on central banks that don’t necessarily have our best interests at heart. It won’t be long before almost everyone in the world has access to an internet connection and mobile phone, and to be able to transact across oceans for essentially free and almost instantly will be a game changing prospect for much of the developing world.

I had no idea about the Tether thing; that's whacked. Wonder how they are able to get away with it?

I personally don't have an interest in crypto though I do think the block chain tech is fascinating and
could be incredibly useful in ways not yet thought of.

Yup. They are warming you up to the idea of a full digital economy where every transaction is monitored in real time. Your central bank digital currency account will be linked to your medical ID/social credit score/carbon credits and will be able to be turned off if you exceed your allotments or arnt a model global citizen..MasterCard already made an announcement
for their “carbon calculator” that tracks everything you buy and calculates your carbon footprint. Meanwhile the CEO’s fly around on jumbo jets and invest in China who’s building coal fired power plants with no scrubbers like it’s going out
of style.
