Press conference Tuesday in Rome with USA journalists invited.

This is going to be big news, you guys are going to flip out.
Is this press conference really going to happen?
I keep reading it's fake news, any update?

Damn so it's true. It'll suck to see him go. I really hope he gets his 10th title this year to match Everts.

It’s almost comical how many times the vital nobody’s are correct, before the moto journalists know!

Ask yourself - If Tony is just retiring, why is KTM paying tor US Journalists to fly to Italy to cover it?

There is a lot of stuff I can't mention, I have a European guest in my home with some sources. We will see how it turns out.

It is not mentioned a lot but Tony and his wife have spent some time in the off seasons in La Jolla and Orange County ...

He said in Weege’s video that he wants to come over and race some nationals. I doubt he wants the grind of doing the whole series, but it’ll be badass to see him race in the states.

He made it clearly sound like he wants to ride SOME nationals... I think he will. How many? I'm guessing 2...

What a great career he had and is having... Hat's off to Tony! Hope I can make an event next year that he rides, will be fun to watch.

What’s the difference between Cairoli & Rossi? Cairoli is retiring at the top of his game.

You do know that Rossi is almost 10 years older, right?

Congratulations to Tony on a great career. The GOAT of MXGP in my opinion. It’s been a privilege to get to watch him race these past 20 years, truly is the end of an era. Kind of sad that I’ll probably never get to see him race again in person, but fingers crossed he go out on that 10th title. Have to say it’s a shame his moment was kind of ruined because some ‘journalists’ can’t read a press release properly

Gotta say wasn't expecting that. He's still bloody competitive.

Perhaps he was persuaded so that Prado would stay? The KTM group couldn't afford to lose Prado.

Age has nothing to do with it. Rossi lost his edge years ago, now he’s just a grid filler. I’m pretty sure the riders who are beating him now don’t go back to the pits & go wow I’ve just beaten Rossi. If you beat Rossi when he was in his prime, you was doing something special.

Forget their age, Cairoli is retiring when he is still in his prime. Rossi is retiring well past his prime. You seem to think I’m comparing their career stats, which I’m not. Cairoli knows when he needs to retire, Rossi didn’t.

Needs to retire ? Maybe Rossi still wanted a paycheck or maybe he just still enjoyed what he was doing. Who is anyone to say when someone needs to retire except the person doing it. And if the answer is he's tarnishing his legacy I don't buy into that .

Rossi doesn't need a paycheck, he keeps racing because he loves it. It's hard to walk away from something you love and something that's been your entire life. Even though he's not winning anymore, he's still The Man. He's earned it.

Please don't ruin this thread with this unnecessary comparison BS. Both legends, both earned their right to do whatever the eff they want.
Congrats Tony for the amazing career!

I have to congratulate Tony Cairoli for "knowing" when to retire...instead of waiting, like so many moto-athletes do, until an injury sidelines them or they just sadly become uncompetitive. He's wise enough to go out on his own terms...when he is still fast and healthy, and I'm sure has a great bankroll so that he and his family can enjoy the freedom they will have from now on. Pretty sweet, IMO.

Congrats again, TC222. Cool
