Steve was handling it diplomatically and I definitely think he had many moments he probably laid back maybe taking the high road?
The industry had every right to imagine Hill was smoking it up with j-law since they were tight. Cant blame societal norms 🤷🏻‍♂️
All in all i think steve defended himself respectfully when I think he knows he could have mentally smoked him.

I like how Steve made a few comments about people reporting on the race without being there, and Gypsy’s next half dozen shows we’re guests that have had recent issues with pulp.. Real housewives of Moto type stuff. Can’t wait to see who’s going on gypsy next.. juicy 🥕 ’s

Steve probably has no idea how deep Jason was and is in the industry. I don't know all the details but the guy spent a lot of time with JS7 and others in his content producing efforts. As Jason said, he was a bit behind the scenes. (Until he hit the bars with the Aussie accent and all . . .)

Here's a video he made with Malcom Stewart, Matt Moss and others:

He has really good guests, I just can’t stand listening to his check list of talking points - jiu jitsu, the podcast and how much time he puts into the podcast, reading a ‘fuck’ load of books, The ‘self’ and removing his ego, meditation, how much he loves technique (which brings us back to jiu jitsu).

Can literally check them all off every podcast and he just goes on and on and on. I feel like he talks about himself far more than we hear about the guests. I started fast forwarding when ever he speaks and it was crazy how long he goes on for before his guests get a word in.
The answer to your issue is just not listening anymore, took me 3 episodes to figure that out!

Shit talking belongs in sports and motocross, the sport would be boring without it.

I posted this in the other Matthes thread and in surprised nobody else is talking about it.

When they were first talking about the Hill controversy, I was thinking, "Hey, maybe everything I've heard about gypsy tales is overblown, this guy doesn't seem so bad." But when he started making his case that the content they put out doesnt have to be true or based on anything realistic, because it's just "entertainment", I got lost so hard. 100% against that type of "entertainment" with every fiber of my being, and in my opinion is why the world is the way it is today. Doesn't have to be true if you're "just asking questions".

To be fair, Matthes stuck his foot in his mouth earlier in the show when he confidently proclaimed that GL didnt test negative because he didn't take a covid test, so he deserves to be called out for that as well. (Let's not go down the GL vax rabbit hole in this thread though please)
Same for me. I found it incredibly childish that he was defending blatantly posting bullshit click bait titles and talking about completely made up and fake topics, such as the kawi/tomac/parts spectacle. Are you 5 years old? Like what sort of "entertainment" are you talking about? Made absolutely no sense to me.

I dont care about his language because most of my friends are much worse than him but why does he need to use it knowing that there is probably a lot of kids that watch his show. I cuss and swear myself but i would never do it in front of someone kids. So yes it does bother me.

I would not let really young kids listen to shows where they swear a lot, plus talk about all sorts of adult themes.
It's on the parents to make sure the kids are listening to appropriate content, not on podcasters to cater for children.
If you are talking about teenagers....i guarantee they have heard a lot worse

Simple fact is, these podcasts are not targetted at small kids.
If this was Dora the explorer dropping C bombs, I would agree with you. but it is not, so i dont

A rising tide floats all boats. Gypsy, Pulp, etc., more and different content is never a bad thing.

Someone gets it.

Personally Jase is way to much of a Scenester Bro for me but I like his show and I like how he dives deep with his guests. There is room for everybody.

1- I thought it was way hypocritical, as others had mentioned, to take Steve to task over Cheech and Chong and then defend the more recent clickbait content as "entertainment." Not to mention Pulp was pretty much in it's infancy when the Cheech and Chong comment came out anyway.

2- As an interviewer, it drives me nuts to listen to how long Jase goes on and on and on to set up a question... basically to the point that the riders can just repeat what he says. No wonder some of these riders like him, because he is handing them a response without them having to come up with it themselves. It just seems to make the interviews twice as long as they need to be.

Most commonly, when I am yelling at the screen while watching a podcast, it during the answer-prompting, answer-context-defining, question-elaborating, answer-example-giving that the interviewer engages in.

It's a basic tenet of the MX interviewer (1) that he has to explain his question to his guest. This is possibly true when the guest has the IQ of a cumquat. When we a listening to a star racer however, someone we really want to hear from, it gets really annoying when the interviewer won't SHUTUP !!!!

Let him answer the question already !!

Not really worried too much about kids, mine are grown. But my time to listen to podcasts is fairly limited so I end up listening at work a fair bit.

I can usually listen to Ping’s stuff without offending anyone, but wouldn’t even try a gypsy podcast at all.

Not a prude, but when every other word is the f bomb it usually is a sure sign of an inarticulate, immature person.

The constant interruption of the guests and his ever present need to somehow relate every topic to jiu jitsu just reinforces that.

The Gypsy guy seems to target a certain audience which isn't me . If he gets a big name guest I am interested in I will put up with his crap. Otherwise Ping and the whiskey throttle show is my preference. The Lawrence bros episode was gold. Have they been on gypsy?

Millenial here. I can see how bullshit headlines and cringey clickbait material gathers more eyes, but it just drags the collective IQ of the sport into the gutter. What's wrong with the truth? I'd hardly call what I've seen of those "entertainers" satire.

Ping really is getting good at the interview thing. I’ve been trying to make up for lost time so I really started with listening to some of the earlier WTS episodes with he and Langston. I like Langston as a color guy for the races, but I don’t think that he’s a great fit for WTS. For some reason it appears that he wants to talk about his own career in a way that sort of competes with the guest, while Ping’s references to his career seem very deferential and even self deprecating.

It almost seems like Ping’s game really stepped up when Langston left or wasn’t there. Langston had a habit of trying to finish sentences of the guest, and it sounded like it threw off Ping’s rhythm as well. I think that in the Doug Henry episode it seems like there were at least a dozen times where GL tried to finish DH’s sentences and Henry had to correct him with what he was actually going to say. Ping seems to have a good amount of patience to let the guest tell his story while still being interested to keep the conversation percolating and lively.

Gypsy, not much of an interviewer. Sometimes seems like he thinks that he’s the guest and needs to focus everyone’s attention on him. I would say, however, that if I were forced to listen to either Gypsy or Cooksey &Coach for a couple of hours every day for 10 days I’d choose Gypsy 10/10 over Coach’s macroeconomic misunderstandings, his ‘executive decisions’, his ‘meat on the bone’, and his total misrepresentation of what glass ceilings are……

Not to mention C&C’s quest for eternal martyrdom……

I agree, Pings interviews have got much better lately and he has found his groove well, and I like them a lot better than the early ones with GL,

Its like when Kenny Watson left the Pulp MX show, they were good with him, but the show grew without him into something better,

I listened to the McAdoo Gypsy Tales on a drive this past weekend. Of the 3 hours, I think Jace maybe had more talk time than Cameron. I really like a lot of the guests that he's had on but I'd rather hear those guys do a long form with Ping or Matthes. Both are much better interviewers.

And his justification for Hopper's crap was a bridge too far.

Who gives a fuck haha, let the cunt do whatever he wants, there's that many other podcast go listen to them.

Some of Jases are good and some are shit, just like every other podcast out there.

He has a big following her in Australia and is helping the sport out and getting people back onto bikes again or even just spectating
