Such a bummer. I’ve been to a lot of these vintage races and if you saw the gray haired old guys on the line wanting to keep the racing blood flowing it is understandable to lose someone to a heart attack. So sad to hear

That’s for sure and I agree 100%. It’s just sad to think about it happening when a bunch of guys/families are out for a fun day. Im amazed at the guys in their 70’s who are still out there giving it hell each week….hero’s for sure

Or in a truck, shocking high number die in a truck. A dude had a heart attack, watching us a full gate of 125,s start at aztalan. Nursing home or a race, I would take a race.

Condolences to his family and friends but we can all agree he departed doing what he loved. Sadly, as mentioned above, a family weekend at the races....really sad.

Guys, take care of yourselves. I thought I was invincible well into my 50's. As the song goes, "I Ain't As Good As I Once Was". I decided to drop my pride and get a full physical and tune up. I dropped 25 lbs. but have a lot more to go. I feel a lot better for it, at least I have some peace of mind.

I’ve had two heart attacks. First one at age 49. Came back from a two mile run and started waxing the car. Second one at 53. Was in the attack cleaning the dryer vent. Came out of the attack and immediately had heart attack. Luckily in both cases I was not home alone and recovered fully. You just never know. High cholesterol and placque broke off the first time. Second time was a 95% blockage. Take care and see you doctor.

This made for a very sad and tough couple of days not to mention trip. I was actually on the line for the next race when it happened. They stopped the racing at that point and let us know on the line that racing would probably be cancelled for the day and pick up on Sunday. We all went back to the pits and started to get undressed when they staff came over the load speaker and said that the family of the passed rider wanted the club to continue on with the racing that day and we headed back to the line within an hour or so. Super tough to want to race after witnessing something like this and hard to focus on hanging it out.

I think the only way that I was able to continue on was knowing that it was not crash related and appeared to be a heart attack from what we were told.

The same thing happened at Boise inter-am a few years ago.
