All good. I just wanted to clarify that I only meant the chassis size. I know there is a big difference from the normal 85cc and the built up Super Minis. And I am sure you probably know way more first hand about them than I do, with a son racing and whatnot. But I was just making a general statement that he looks a bit weird on the smaller bike, now that he has a bunch of videos on the 125 now.

No worries my friend. You're from PA, so I'm sure you're a good dude. My best buds are from PA. Anytime you make your way west, you have a place to crash!

I think his business savvy is the reason MM isn’t on the bike. The family wouldn’t pull in any money from MM being a major sponsor, and I’d bet MM isn’t aiming for the same target market as Haiden’s YouTube channel.

Brian said LL is his last supermini race. He got much taller really quickly, like over the last few months. That is a bit sad for me as I have had a TON of fun seeing these supermini vid'. The most impressive one being "finding JS7 at Stewart's compound". That track was no joke for 85s. I kind of hope he will be on the 125 for a year, but tbh, in term of speed and talent, he is kind of almost ready to race the nationals (I think he would already be in the points, top 10 to top 20).
top 10... Your higher then a pair of eagle nuts.

I can't hardly wait to watch another kid that's on a factory team and trains full-time whoop up on the B classes. Maybe he'll even defend his B title for a second year like Star racing's Leblanc did. Exciting stuff.

Any Deegan post will instantly start the Deegan debate...

I'd rather just watch racing.

and do it at a race where the person collecting the money at the gate is the same person broadcasting across the largest MX media outlet that Loretta's is the only path to a successful pro career 🤣 hahaha man I love the moto ecosystem

Cool bike, great rider from what I understand. I bet he has a solid future ahead of him, but let's not start awarding him the 2023 250 National Championship just yet. Guys, the jump to National Pro is a big one, and there is a long, long list of "can't miss" amateurs who couldn't hang when the shit got real.

I hope he kicks a lot of ass and becomes a huge success. Cool

You want him to go from a mini bike to the A class? I doubt anyone has done that since Stewart, and he only had to move up to a 125 not a 250F.

Mine's about to go from a BW Supermini 105 (that was an 85) to an sx125. It will be a while before he rides/races a 250f. Our name is NOT Deegan, our bikes are NOT tricked out, and we are NOT all that fast nor planning to go Pro. Ever.

Let me clarify - I am not that fast. My kid is pretty decent. 6-10 place supermini rider when he gates with the fast PNW kids. But we sure as hell have fun every time we work on, clean, or ride our bikes, together. He's a big Deegan fan too and follows him on social media. I find it interesting how they've promoted him. I hope he has a solid career, is a good person, and gets an education for when he is old and broken.

Mine is on the left. Holeshot #4 on the weekend in the Open C Class.

Sounds like a factory Honda now . On pulp they said factory Honda has signed a new amateur, and will let everyone know after Lorettas . Deegans said they will let everyone know what factory team he’s signing with after lorettas for 250f am and into pro. With both them saying that around same time couple weeks ago I’m thinking it’s him

Great stuff! We are in the same boat, kinda. My kid is racing the 85's this year, he just moved up. Are you guys doing AZ Open this year? If so, let me know and we will link up. Best of luck to you and your son! Here's my little guy.

I agree, he,s a little on the small side for a 250f. He is super fast everywhere, but the whoops. I smell blood there, but that’s the only spot.

No, we almost never get outside the PNW. We will be doing amateur days at Hangtown this year, but that's as far south as we will go. He'd like to try for Mammoth next year on the supermini if he doesn't outgrow it.

To think a top amateur can't top 10 immediately in the pros in 1 moto over a season is as laughable tbh, or need to buy a stop watch. The kids are hauling. He will continue to develop and will get better than that, but it is funny to think the kids are suddently gaining 10 seconds a lap because they move from B to A. They are already there and are polishing their sx skills and fitness, just that, and outdoor they may actually be more skilled earlier as they kind of change focus for sx later on.

Why does everyone keep saying it's an 85, it's a 112cc. Big difference imo. Not saying the kid isn't fast, no doubt about that! However, to say he would be top 10 in points in silly! The guys racing nats are pros! It's not LL's or any 5-10 lap amateur race. No way in hell he would be top 10 in points right now. I honestly don't think he could win the B or A class at LL's. At this point, I don't he would beat Kitchen or Hymas straight up. Maybe I'm wrong. Again, make no mistake, the kid is fast but if you think he lines up at a pro national and beats Martin, Cooper, Lawrence bro's, Mumford, Hampshire, Mosiman, Shimoda, Forkner, or Nichols, you must be on something. No boys out there! All that being said, his bike is nuts! My kid races 85's and we don't have much into it as far at aftermarket parts, (just full exhaust). I'm willing to bet, to recreate that bike, it's an easy 15-20K! Not including the bike. To be honest, you're not walking in TD and saying, give me the same motor Deegan has. Same for the the one off head pipe. Pretty much a factory bike. That bike alone would help a kid move up a few spots. It's the best of the best and one off parts. Give that bike to a solid rider like Deegan and he's going to beat the average kids out there. That being said, you gotta pay to play!

No problem debating, but you should have watched the vid' I was talking about before posting. I know he is currently racing a 112. But a couple of years ago, at JS7 compound, he was not (and he had the small wheels). Then regarding the level, if you watch other videos of him, you can also see that he already has a great corner speed (and sx timing) even compared to legit pros (which is pretty rare as mini bikes are less stable in ruts, as these ruts and bumps are developed by bigger bikes). I didn't say he would immediately beat Lawrence etc either ; I said that I think next year he could already run top 10 top 20 (and even this year if he had prepared for that a bit). If you think he would not score points, then you don't remember all the top amateurs coming up, they are no slow. Heck, we even have "amateurs" or rookies this year that won a sx main event or made podiums.

I don't follow him very much but I have seen some of his videos. My son has raced the same tracks as him on the same day, just different classes. My son also races 85's on national tracks, so I understand completely how an 85's reacts in breaking/acceleration bumbs, square edge, deep ruts ect. I will admit that a 50 or 65 is less suited for rougher track conditions. To be completely honest, I wouldn't say 85's are more or less stable than a bigger bike. How the bike is set up to the rider makes all the difference in the world. When my son moved up to 85's, the biggest difference was the suspension. Not so much the size of the overall bike. Yes, he did notice the power but the suspension more so. He's a little guy but we have the suspension dialed in for him. We've done our fair share of suspension testing and have different settings matched to the track conditions we've encountered. My son's bike in stock trim has almost the same amount of adjustments than a larger bike. His forks are 43mm and his shock has every adjustment my 22 250 SX-F has. The size of the bike doesn't have anything to do with corner speed and SX timing either. Those are learned skills. I've seen my son rail ruts and turns faster than guys on 250's/450's. It has nothing to do with his bike size. He just has s better entry/exit speed.

As far as Deegan being top 10 to 20 in a year. Maybe, maybe not. Like I said before, I don't think he would be Levi Kitchen or Chace Hymas. At least not yet. I never said he wouldn't score a point either. I said he would not be in the top 10. If I'm being completely honest, I don't think he would be in the top 10 in points next year either. The top 15 guys in the 250 class (MX) aren't not going anywhere next year or the year after that. Also, please tell what "amateurs" we had that won SX mains this year. Rookies yes, but they are pros! Big difference between amateurs and pros.
Sorry not amateurs, but Thrasher, Hammaker and Schwartz did pretty well for rookies that were not that hyped before. I don't remember all the story here, didn't 1 of them even skipped the last sx race(s) to not point out too early, isn't it ? Just to say that the top amateurs at LL are hauling and are quite "ready". Anyway we have a different analysis and only time will tell if he is gonna be top 10 at some point and win races. I bet he will.

It was interesting to see Deegan go up to the 125 and as soon as it became apparent Evan Ferry was doing a year in the class he went back down to Supermini full time. There was that whole thing with Haiden Deegan complaining on instagram that Ferry was cherry picking in the 125 class.

That being said, a lot of riders would probably do better spending a bit more time in each class if they could afford it.

That would make more sense to me. I thought Brian said on Gypsy that Haiden won't be pro for another 2 years or so. So I would imagine he will still be on the 125 some more, along with starting to ride the 250f. So I can't imagine he would sign with anyone that doesn't have a 125 on the showroom,, to ride. Maybe I am overthinking it though lol.

It’s funny how people are comparing Haiden who is 15, to the current pros and the guy who just won Washougal, J Mart who is what, like 30 still in the 250 class. I guess Haiden only has 15 years to figure it out, then can think about moving up to the 450 class.

I'd say zero percent chance of that happening based on Brian's "plan" ...and that's being optimistic.

The career paths for JL and HD, thus far, could not be more polar opposite.
