Might be somewhat of a stretch and I know you can't compare guys by how they did in different classes buuuuutttttt.

Last year Dylan beat J-Mart for the 250 title but he was on an obviously better bike and in my opinion J-Mart was the faster guy. This year with Dylan so far being the fastest and most consistent rider outdoors it begs the question, how would J-Mart do?

I'm in no way, shape or form saying J-Mart would dominate but I am saying if I was a factory team manager I would get him on one of my 450's.

You would have to guess he would be running around the top 5 pretty consistently.
Hopefully he can get a decent 450 ride next year and we will finally see. Poor guy has had a rough few years, definitely deserves his luck to turn around.

To me Ferrandis has a level of commitment, talent, work ethic, dedication, and overall willingness to win that so many others right now are missing a little bit of. From all this he is continuing to improve at a higher rate over time, while J Mart unfortunalty has gotten hurt to much lately and that has pushed him off of being 100% of even his past self, let alone getting better like Ferrandis has been able to.

Yep, I think a big part of his bad luck is still running in the 250 class. That class is filled with guys who frankly don't belong on the track with J-Mart and the more sketchy guys you ride with the more likely you are to get caught up in stuff you don't want to get caught up in. He would probably get injured a lot less on a 450.

Jmart wasnt on worst bike last year.. actually his results were better with Honda.
I dont see Jmart keeping up with Ferrandis on 450 at any track.. no one can.

That's just a silly comment, with 5 of the last 7 championships (with 4 different riders) and most likely another this year the Star bikes have been the class of the field.

Too many injuries for both the Martin bros... both are terrible at sx... and both are no spring chickens now days.... jmart is solid outdoors, but his best days are wayyy in the rearview.... oh and, he would be lucky to be top 5 in the class he actually belongs in....

"Lucky to be in the top 5 of the class he belongs in?"

So, being torn up and going 5-3 at Red Bud didn't happen? That's not luck, that's guts, heart and talent.

What? No way the Honda was as good as the Yamaha last year.

J mart still pulled decent starts. It was not the bike that kept him from winning that championship.

The 2021 HRC 250 is not as good as a star Yamaha engine either but Jett makes up for that with other qualitys, just as Stewart did on his 125 back in -04.

If it was all about power, the 250’s would not be able to make the same laptimes as the 450’s..

With 250's it is ALL about power. Some of the others such as HRC are catching up but when you see the pictures of a holeshot and the first 4 bikes are Star bikes you can't deny it. J-Mart rode the freaking wheels off his Honda during the 2nd moto at Millville last year and he just didn't have the horsepower.

His best days are definitely behind him. Look at how long he’s been in that class meanwhile guys like Ferandis, AC, Webb abs recently Plessinger have graduated and gone on to some success on the 450.

He should have moved up a few years ago, get his feet wet, have some good rides and progress his career.

Instead he’s fighting it out in a young mans class and dealt with injuries multiple seasons now.

I seriously doubt at this point he will have any meaningful 450 career. I say that as a huge huge fan. Loved watching his back to back MX championship years. Dude was incredible.

I think he’s now waited too long, too many injuries.

ALL about power and Jett still win motos? Tell me again how he can do that with your logic?.

Is the starbikes faster? Yes.. can you win on a Honda? Yes. Were Ferrandis the better rider last year? Yes…

Yes, the HRC Honda is way faster this year than the Geico Honda was last year.

I'm not sure you are aware of this yet but your example of Jett kind of makes my point. Jett is a generational talent and by all rights should be dominating the class this year.

Not sure which factory bike is better, but certainly JMart was the only rider keeping Ferrandis in view last outdoors, and nobody currently in the 450s seems to be having much better luck at it.

I'm no expert but the last 2 national races I have been was Millville and Red Bud. The Husky was about the only 250 that sounded on Par with the Star Yamaha bikes.

If we're gonna be specific, JMart had the best starts of all 250 riders outdoors 2020. I checked it and his average position was around 3, Ferrandis something like 9.

Yes the Star Yamaha was a better bike. But people trying to say that JMart lost last years title because Ferrandis was on a better bike are just wrong. If that would truly have been the case, it's time we start putting way higher result demands on every single current Star Racing Yamaha rider.

Did Ferrandis have a better bike? Yes. Was that the sole or biggest reason that JMart lost the title? Nope, Ferrandis was and is better.

Martin is a great rider, but Ferrandis is on another level. I don't think Martin would be a top 5 450 guy right now, but I'd like to see him get a chance to prove me wrong.

I'm in no way saying J-Mart is better. I thought he was better last year but that doesn't mean his ceiling is what Dylan's is. DF is a bad mofo!!!!

This whole post went off the rails, I'm not taking anything away from Ferrandis, I'm just saying that if I was a 450 team manager I'd have J-Mart locked up tomorrow. To throw another guy into it, I'm an Anderson fan but if I had to bet my house on him winning a SX title next year or J-Mart winning a 450 outdoor title next year my money is on J-Mart.

I would think that a 450 team is talking to J Mart? I can’t see why he would be racing hurt with the championship out of reach unless its a possible 450 ride on the line. We all know that he will get a 250 ride as long as he is eligible. Time will tell.

J Mart got 2nd at Daytona to Tomac several years ago, I'd say he'd be alright on a 450.

Let go of his nuts and he'll do better.

JMart had an unforced crash at Thunder Valley and broke his fingers practising not because he was punted.

Guy has a lot of aches and pains and needs to get his wrist fixed before he'll be back in the hunt.
You could see him wincing at Redbud after average landings.

He's not doing anything nasty to Dylan

I’m almost positive Jett, Hunter and the Honda team have said that they have made that bike significantly better than it was last year. Not sure how this is up for debate.
