I’d say it’s a good bet that Star is getting at least as much Monster $ as any other team. My guess is they are #1.

The thing that get me is that Star Racing does not have a product to sale. They are strictly a race team as far as I can tell. That’s a shit ton of money to throw at a race team without the team itself being a marketing tool. They must be getting huge performance bonuses from sponsors to make an operation their size feasible. Either that or they are a money laundering operation of the drug cartels.

Ha I thought this thread would be about Star overturning the fortunes of the ‘McCarty Pig’

Globally the Monster partnership with Yamaha is pretty large, even greater than Kawasaki when one factors in the MotoGP effort and the MXGP effort.

You mean to tell me Honda and Kawasaki don’t have the money that star Yamaha does? I just think they are so stuck in their ways they’ll never try anything outside of the usual.

Yamaha is actually putting a lot in to Stars 450 effort…That’s why Craig has two different contracts one for the 450’s and one for the 250’s

So you don't know, just like me? Going off what I've heard in the past.

Next year they will have Ferrandis, Tomac, and Plessinger on 450s in supercross and add Craig to that list for outdoors.

Meanwhile the other teams typically continue with the tradition of 1 elite guy and 1 support type rider.

If something happens to the top rider on those teams the whole operation effectively goes up in smoke.

The tractor trailers, engine and suspension testing, countless crew members, test tracks, all that is for nothing because the #2 rider really isn’t all of a sudden going to be in position to carry the team.

This model is seemingly outdated and I think star is going to quickly prove that.

With the number of injuries, sicknesses, dnfs, one bad race sometimes means the whole operation is for nothing when the team only has one real top rider. Seems foolish in a sport as risky as this one is.

Will see how star does in the coming seasons, but their 250 performance shows some serious potential ahead.

And of course the more they win, the happier some sponsors are to give more money.

So they'll have 2 "elite" riders and 2 "support" riders. They're doing what other teams do, but doubling the number of riders. Which is great. More top tier bike for more riders is always great. But let's be honest. It would be surprising if two of those riders were contending for 450 titles. For all the talk about how every year has the deepest field ever, there are maybe 7 or 8 riders who are real title contenders. The next 12 will get an occasional podium and maybe a win if everything falls in their favor on the day.
The fact that there are 7-8 real title contenders are what make it the deepest field ever. You say it like that's not a lot of top tier guys. In the RC days it was just him and Stewart. Throw Reed too if we're talking sx but he was a title threat outdoors. During the era of the Ryan's it was pretty much just those too.

They do though, its a chain of car dealers. Although the fact that everyone doesn't know that means they aren't doing a great job of marketing it that way.

Is Bobby just a fan of the sport or does this actually help sell trucks? Could other dealerships decide to start teams seeing the success since it can be done? “Paradise husqvarna” or what’s the Toyota dealership that’s always mentioned on the podium from Cali?

That’s one hell of a warranty. Where’s the fine print?

Non transferable. No one keeps a car for that long anymore.

You don't need to keep it that long, but nice to know if you do.

You’d be surprised. A lot of the guys retiring at my work buy a new one and say it’s the last new one for them. I kinda believe it but don’t. Hahahahaha.
