Shout out to the crowd this weekend. It was so refreshing to see everyone enjoying themselves and getting extremely loud during the races and podium interviews.

Hearing them yell encouragement to RJ as he was walking up the hill after his mechanical was pretty great, and they were pumped as hell when Swoll got his first win.

Anyone leave the track and stop here i79 exit 6, just north of mt Morris. A driver told me on the anniversary of the explosion. He saw coal miners in a coal train come flying down the big hill then go under the 4 lanes . To above ground then into a coal mining shaft. True ghost story.

Thanks for sharing! There weren’t many job options in Penn/WV area back then.
Both of my grandfathers were miners one at 12 and one at 13 years old. So both only had a middle school education.
One had black lung really bad and the other had a mangled finger that never worked again because of it.
But both were able to move on and provide for both their families.
Also both were great grandparents. Miss you both.

That area was full of patch towns. Company owned towns. Miner towns riddled all over that area of SW PA and WV.

My great grandfather was a Coal miner for 45 years. That was after serving in ww2 in the pacific. Talk about a ROUGH life.

My dads side grandfather was a steel worker in Pittsburgh. Face wound be hot and your back wound freeze in the winter at the mills.

Coal and steel drove the way of life and economy locally there back then. Which makes me miss “Steel City”

Glad someone caught that. Wound is the correct word, it was brutally hot and brutally cold. My dad worked in the same Steel mill with my Grandfather before it shut down. I think he was around 20 when it shut down. Grandfather retired there and my grandmother drew his retirement up until about 6 years ago when the fund went belly
Up and busted. ....Otherwise I’ll bet we never woulda left southwestern PA.

Sorry, but there’s some struggle and history in that area Of the country....it built a generation of very strong men and women.

My Grandpa was a coal miner near Scranton. Uneducated, couldn't read or write. He died of black lung when he was 68. My Dad started work in the mines at 13; his job was to place dynamite charges since he was small and could fit back in the crevices. He went in the Navy at 17 to go to WWII and never went back to coal country except to fish and hunt. Tough life, tough people up there.

Yeah but I had to work Friday night at star bucks. Omg my life🥲 just being old. 😂 hats off to the men that built and protected this country 💪👍

My grandfather was also a coal miner, from Wilkes-Barre (Swoyersville actually), whom also served in the Navy. He died of black lung at 83. Never once bitched about the mines. Coal country made for some tough dudes....There is a reason coal towns have more bars than houses.

Of all the outdoor national tracks I’ve been to, High Point is my favorite. The crowd was awesome. I met some of the mixed moto folks. The viewing was good too. I was in the corner after rhe hole shot. Perfect view of the start, you could see the finish line and some of the other parts of the track. They had plenty of vending/food/snacks/drinks.
