I use a Garmin Instinct. It's a ruggedized GPS training watch that uses wrist or chest HR strap. Since I have all my cycling computers and data on Garmin, I stuck with them for this as well. So far, I like it.
That's what I ended up getting, very happy with it so far. The GPS is a little more accurate than the Polar, HR tracking is similar. I'm more familiar with Garmin's platform from cycling, but I was impressed with my brief Polar experience. I almost pulled the trigger on the Grit-X, but ended up getting the Instinct for half the price.

I have the Garmin Instinct when it was on sale after Christmas. Watch has good functionality, is easy to navigate and seems to be reasonably accurate...at least for trail riding.

I got a Garmin for Litpro and have no real complaints, but I regret not going one model up to get music. Not for moto, but with that I could leave my phone behind on mountain bike rides and have everything I want tech-wise for a workout.

Question for those who are currently using the polar vantage M.
I've been using the watch to track my lap times, and have it set on mountain bike profile, auto lap, and I set the start point by pressing the "light up" button, but it still ends up counting Laps at random points. Does anyone know why? Or does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
Any help is appreciated. The picture below shows what I'm talking about.

Does Anyone know if litpro will start supporting android or windows devices any time soon? I don't own a single apple product but would love to get involved with the litpro stuff on my polar vantage

Spring for an iPhone se whenever your current phone takes a crap.

I went with the se because it’s cheap and just was released like last year. It works awesome with the litpro app and the phone honestly is bad ass. First time having an iPhone and glad I did it, the litpro app I’ll be honest was a big reason I switched but still glad I did.

Is there a specific reason why you choose the auto lap? I have never used auto lap since the day I started using mine and it records all lap times fine. It takes about a lap or so to find a point and starts recording that point as the start/finish.

+1 to this. I just start riding and it makes it’s own.

That doesn’t look like the correct screen to me. Where are you getting that screen? I just start workout in mountain bike. Start riding. Sync with phone when done and get this. (No my lap times aren’t that inconsistent I run a woods loop and a mx loop 🤣)

What does yours look like? Doesn't it need to be on auto lap? Or do you really just turn it on to the mountain bike profile and go, like you said?

Does yours look the same?

One more question, do you not set the start/finish yourself?

It just clicked for me you are using the Polar app to track laps/times. I have no experience using the Polar app for that. I use Litpro and it syncs to the Polar app and you do not have to set a checkpoint/finish. The free version of Litpro is all you need and I like it better. I think I’m the Polar app yes you do have to manually set a checkpoint

It sets the finish line as wherever you started the session. So make sure you start the session in the middle of the track somewhere, that way it should count laps even if you're on a different line. I used mine with just the polar app yesterday and the auto lap worked really well, all laps counted and was only a maximum of 1 second difference to a manual stop watch my dad was using to time me.

I can’t figure out for the life of me how to get the heart rates to display on the litpro app from my polar M

Any suggestions?

Did you buy the premium or are you using the free version? I believe the free version only shows zones. May need premium for more specific info shown

I’m using premium, I’m guessing there’s some way to connect it to the GPX160 unit But can’t seem to figure it out As of now I’m recording my sessions on both litpro and just receding to the polar app for heart rates but I’d like to be able to overlay it

Guys, you can do all that easily with the MX Buddy App.

- No subscription needed
- You get the full analytics functionality (map playback, compare laps, segment times and a lot more)
- You decide what sessions you want to import from Polar / Garmin
- You have full control over your track setup (finish line, segment gates)
- You can easily integrate heart rate data from e.g. a Garmin recording into GPS data recorded with the XGPS160 or whatever

Give it a go!

I like the Xiamoi products! Does it transfer to LitPro though? Or do you have to manually copy/paste the files over?

So I bought the Polar Vantage M, and spent the time to set up my account, download the apps/programs, etc. Unfortunately I think the display is a non-starter. It is so dim I can hardly read it. I cannot find a brightness adjustment in the settings on the watch, in the app, or on the program on my laptop. I did some googling and found Polar did a firmware update at the end of '19 to fix the display but it didn't do much if anything. Is anyone else struggling with the brightness of the display?

The navigation is very intuitive and everything else seems great, but unless I'm missing something with the display I'm not going to get a chance to test out the functionality.

That’s the polar vantage m, it looks huge. Is there a watch that’s smaller ? It would be neat to get lap times and heart rate. Wearing a watch is this the only way, to get that info ?Or can you just wear a chest strap and pair it with a iPhone ?

I swapped it out for a Garmin Instinct, and it is a little smaller than the Vantage. I'm 6'4" so I actually prefer a bigger watch.

You can pair any of these watches with a heart rate strap and you will get slightly more accurate numbers. I'm happy to sacrifice a little accuracy to not have to wear a chest strap, I hate those things!

Oh ok. Sure is a lot of options of watches, etc. I would like a watch for off the bike and a strap for on the bike I think. I hv a iPhone to pair. Any of the watches water proof, for swimming use ?

Yes they are water proof, and you can customize the settings for whatever activity you do. I have custom settings set up for each of Moto, MTB, road cycling, indoor cycling, outdoor run, pool swim and open water swim. They are extremely convenient way to extract way more information than I need from my workouts, highly recommend.

That’s exactly what I do-watch off bike, chesty with the watch mounted on the bars when I Moto or mtb. I’ve got the vantage M and it’s waterproof apparently. I’ve never swam with it but I’ve definitely submerged it a bunch of times with zero issues
