Wow that EBC rotor is a tank compared to the rest. I really like that factory Yamaha 280mm round disc, I've got a Motostuff 280mm disc here I will run on mine but the round disc would suit the style so much better.

Yeah I saw that one Hackman. If I knew how to rivet them on or who could do it I would have some cut to experiment with.

Slosh that EBC is a heavy one. Didn’t think it would be that heavy though 😳 I’ll probably put it on my spare wheel set or sell it. Same with the factory round one. I’ve been holding on to that disc along with a lot of other factory parts for a replica build but I’ve come to the realization it will never happen so I’ll sell it.

I wonder where you could find the rivets and tool for that? A carbon shell holding a light weight rotor seems like it would be a really nice part!

I have a few feelers out there in the industrial rivet land looking for me 😎 It would be a super cool part for sure!

Ok, so I finally got to pull off & weigh my oem 270mm rotor. It came in at 505g. Really good overall I think for the size & weight! If would make the carrier out of aluminum & not steel you could easily drop another 15-25 grams.

Also weighed the screws as this will come in handy later 😎

I sold a spare set of Raptors so while the scale was out I went ahead and compared them. Could have saved an extra 50g if I kept them but I like the extra row for MX so I’ll run those for this build.

Thats a fair penalty for the third row. Are you running Ti pins?

Yes I have titanium pins as well. I haven’t gun drilled them yet but I will to compare the savings over solid ones & the oem drilled steel ones.

Little update on a common part I see on a lot of bikes.
Most people replace the heavy steel brake clevis with an aluminum one.

Problem I see is the steel pin will wear out the softer aluminum & oval out the hole creating slop.

A few companies have figured this out so if you guys do get one & you want it to last I would look for a brand that has a steel insert.

Only downside is they are tiny bit heavier than a full aluminum one but still lighter than the stock steel one 😎

Now I just need to find a titanium pin long enough to work with this style clevis. I need something about 26mm long & all I could find for a decent price was this 17mm one (& this guy hasn’t emailed me back about a longer one 😑)

Thanks guys & more updates later this week 👍🏻

8mm x 26mm or 27mm IIRC. I will get an exact tonight when I get home. Thanks

I can make you one. I have some Ti left from making some foot peg pins the other day.

What diameter did you start out with? I have acces to Ø14mm grade 5.

It was listed as 5/8" Grade 5 rod. I bought it to make some foot pegs pins out of, so it was a little bigger than needed for the brake pin. I could have easily started with 1/2" to make his brake pin, so the 14mm should work fine.

My clevis has a much smaller pin head on it so I was able to make one for myself with some of the rod that I turned down for the peg pins.

Hey guys,
Been a while so figured it was time for an update. Just like everyone else I’ve been busy with “life” in general so not a ton of actual progress.
I did start messing with coatings & may have gone a little crazy on the DLC & TiN... what do you all think?

Haha, well glad I could help 🤣
I’m actually going to be doing a combo of that on some tranny parts too but mostly a REM ISF treatment in there.

Hahahaha, yeah I know. One of those things where your already pot committed so you go ahead & push all in. Sadly the TiN cost significantly more than the actual sprocket 🤦‍♂️ Ah what the hell right 🤣 Heck if it doesn’t work out maybe I can open my own line of MX jewelry for rappers 😎

Adam, you listening bro???????????

Hey guys, been MIA on you all for a while so I figured it was time for an update. Been super busy with the house renovation & work & kids & life & fixing the TA & well, I’m sure you all can relate to what I mean on some level! I also sold a few left over & spare parts so that was nice to free up some extra spending money as well 😁

Got the new titanium front rotor in. There was a BIG weight savings so I’m running that one now & sold the Motostuff rotor.

Next was I decided to weigh all my pipes while I was boxing up 2 I sold. For those who are interested I have the following:

FMF gnarly 5.75
PC platinum 5.31
PC works 5.20
OEM 5.10
DEP plated 5.33
Cone pipe 4.90

I’ll be running the cone pipe to start unless the DEP ends up being that much better on the dyno. Overall the DEP is my favorite pipe for the yz250.

Next order of business was I have been helping work on some new Carbon Fiber stuff with my friend The Moto Log. You may remember he did the head stays, power valve cover, case saver, sprocket cover & exhaust hanger that I helped with figment & design that all turned out great! For these master cylinder covers we went from CAD —> 3D printed —> 1st samples cut —> test fitting—> minor adjustments. As soon as he gets the 2nd batch cut & I can verify figment he will make a post for them 😎 He will have the new style Yamaha front master, rear master & one for the Honda front master.

He is also working with Zesiger 112 & I on a recessed fuel cap for the RTech tanks. Zesiger 112 did all the ground work for this one as noted in his build thread & was the driving force behind it! Lucky for us I knew the The Moto Log just got a brand new 3D printer (per the master cylinder covers) so it was an easy call. Once I can test fit them & verify a few things he will also post them up if anyone wants one (I’m guessing black, blue & maybe red). Thanks guys, you all rock!!!

Oh & I made the switch from import to domestic..... 😎 (Scotch to Bourbon)

This build dude!!! Wow...I had no idea the stock pipe was such a reasonable weight. Also, your bourbon stock 👍🏻

Nice! Once he gets those caps on the site I know about 10 people who have said they want one.

Would be cool to kit with O-ring, vent fitting, 3/8 plastic p clamp, and maybe a paper drill template. And maybe a special wrench as an added option.

I hope he can take it and run with it, more bad ass parts for YZ owners is all the payment I need.
