PW50 thread...

Anyone have any tricked out PW50's? How about some old 80's/90's PW50s? I want to restore a white one from 1986 that has the gold rims and red #1number plates. Or possibly a yellow 1981. Let's see your PW50 photos...

Here’s the one I built for my oldest before last summer. It’s a ‘95 and still runs great.

Came in a bucket from a yard sale, it threw some pretty good roost for the first couple of hours after I rebuilt it. The chrome plating on the frame was well done, maybe it came like from the factory?

Here’s my son 2006. Mods include Mika bars, oil injection delete kit, and single throttle cable set up. Just waiting for spring time to get some more time on it.

I have an 86 sitting in the garage actually. Rough shape, but I plan on getting it ready for my son here in the late spring

There were lots of companies making parts to hop them up.

Remember the Yamaha Hopper scooter gear swap?

And the cheater people running the 60cc cylinder and piston from the Tri-Zinger 3wheeler?

ct 90 brake shoe springs in the clutch with the yamahopper gear swap was legit, Especially for flat track. I'll dig up some pics after work.

This was my first bike, it had twin Öhlins shocks in the rear since the previous owner worked there, tried finding it again but i think we sold it in 98 or 99

My kid's 1999 JDM version. 100% original down to the tires and tubes.

Star Racing bike?? I bet that's what your kid thinks he's riding when he watches supercross. Sick bike.

I bought a really carpy PW50 for like $400 or something like that. It was not in great shape. I removed the oil pump so I could just use my premix gas can. I replaced the wheel bearings, sanded and painted the rims, and adjusted the jetting (just turning screws). I also wanted to rebuild the top end; but the stock parts were more expensive than this:

So I just bought that big bore kit. Holy moly. I didn't mean to make it fast! We'll never race this, so I didn't care about conforming to the rules... but I didn't mean to make it fast! I rode it down the road, and sheesh. I put on an exhaust washer/gasket and throttle governor to keep the thing in check.

Best thing with GoPro is I have my sons first rides on video. In December I went through my 2020 vids for a highlight reel and I had already forgotten how far the kid came. It’s going to be awesome to look back in 10-20 years provided those videos exist in some format

Sorry I just cost you a day in the garage Dad but you can't have factory graphics without a factory wheel set. Let's see a photo of it after you powder coat it in either factory black or factory bronze:

Recently rebuilt this for my son. We’ve had it in the garage for almost 15 years... he’s loving it!

We bought two PW 50's for Christmas 1992. My sons rode them until they out grew them. My daughter rode one. We sold the other to friends. Both those bikes bounced around in our group of friends and family for almost twenty years. Good memories
