I am sure the hype will be massive for him in the outdoors, but he hasn't raced an outdoor national since 2018 and it really wasn't going that well that season either. In fact his rookie outdoor season in 2016 remains his best performance to date. He has 7 overall podiums and 5 of them were in 2016 including the overall win at Ironman.

I don't know shit about shit, but if I was Mitch at this point I would be reading him the riot act. Come back and race a few SX, figure out how to ride with less emotion, slightly less speed and less big mistakes. Then go outdoors and finish 24 motos. Don't go into outdoors thinking "I'm the man for this title" because he's not. J-Mart, J-Coop, Jettson, RJ, A-Mart, and maybe Hunter and Nichols rate higher than a guy who's barely raced for 3 seasons.

As for a 450....I don't think it would end up well in SX.

Not going to happen. Worse idea in history for mitch putting forkner on a 450. He needs to sit out until nationals and run 1 more yr 250s in 2022. Hopefully he top 3 this summer and come next yr wins both titles will be the plan. Jmart and Cooper will be favorite but forkner and Lawrence Brothers are right there but just a click off of those 2.

Mitch must have the patience of a saint.
I feel for Mitch. He’s heavily invested in the kid and as undesirable as it might be, he likely doesn’t have any better options than to stick with forkner for some time. The only other few guys that have forkners speed are probably too locked in or happy with their deals to be an option for Mitch. Has to be incredibly frustrating for the guy.

Anyone else think maybe Forkner should ride the rest of SX on the 450 when he comes back? The 450 class is stacked but so many greats have rode some rounds on the bigger bike while still riding 250f/125 . This may be a good opportunity to give it a try? Yes? No? Maybe? Let's hear what you think.
Why do you wish harm to this young man?

Race some GP’s (MX1 or MX2...if eligible) and prep for winning the AMA outdoor title.
I don't think that would be a good idea.
Unless the point is to humble the young man, in which case this makes sense.

He can’t stay off the ground on a 250, what makes you think he would do better on a 450?

You know I would agree but when I was about 14 I was pushing my dad to get me a 450 and I went through a phase where everytime I rode my 250f I would eat shit not just little tip overs I'm talking big crashes my dad said the same thing no way I'm getting you a 450 you are going to kill yourself was talking about putting me back on a 125. I blew my bike up and had to ride his 450 for a few weeks and I rode it flawlessly he rebuilt and sold my 250 and bought me a 450 and my crashing phase was over. Some riding styles just suit the 450 better
Yeah, man...but a 450 won't fix a penchant for riding over your head, making stupid decisions and having poor race craft. A bunch of "checkers or wreckers" have come and gone before him...

I'm pretty sure he would die if he rode supercross on a 450
