Alessi rumor from the pits at Mt. Morris

Edited Date/Time 1/27/2012 6:09pm
A certain someone just pinged me some rumors from the pits at Mt. Morris.

Alessi back for Lakewood using cortisone shots and pain killers to tough it out.

Also said the track looks awesome and like a lot of fun.

Since when is it a bad thing to push 100% and practice during the week? At least he wants to race.

Wheres Bobby?

why not. If he can't do it he can always drop out.....but man, can he ride 10 / 11 races like that? I mean, if it was like 1 or 2 races, yeah....but i read his knee cap was actually shattered in like three or four pieces. never had that kind of injury, so don't know what the pain factor would be like but it sounds very painful.

His knee cap was cracked in two, nothing on the inside was hurt. If he can stand the pain, go for it, he wont hurt it anymore.

this whole practicing on Monday thing as if it were too soon is ridiculous! when Nationals were on Sunday it was the most common thing to do, travel on Monday and practice tuesday and thursday.

jeez.

What f'ing pain would that be? I like the kid a lot, but he has a 31 point lead. If this is true, which I can't possibly see how it is, he should sit this weekend and come back next.

Personally, I hope he sits he butt on the couch for the summer and let it heal properly. I can't imagine pushing back would be a good thing.

right here...why? i hope he doesn't push it but i suspect rogerd wants mike racing regardless of his condition, unless he is satisfied with reeds up and coming results. as for team suzy i keep hearing they will not travel 2 or even 1 semi around the country

I wouldn't be at all shocked to see #800 line up tomorrow.

Even if he holeshots and then works his way back to 15th place, those points could be very valuable for the championship.

It's not as crazy as it sounds. Alessi has a 31 point lead on Reed but he has almost 50 on Grant and Short. If he only misses one race (giving him almost 4 weeks to get well because of the break in the schedule) and then if he can stay close to Short and Grant, he's right there if something happens to Reed. It's been a long time since Chad had to do the whole, long season grind, and he already has some kind of stomach issue, so it's really a decent gamble. And Alessi has always been a fast healer.

The flip side is, Alessi tends to come back from injuries too fast and get hurt again. That guy is going to wake up one day and find himself living in a body that isn't worth living in. 15 years from now, I feel sorry for him. He sure needs to think about the future more.

I asked this question earlier in the week if it was possible with this type of injury.

I guess if he can tough it out with points lead he has he still has a shot.

life is full of tough choices....... a "real" mx'er would just tough it out with no pain meds....

but......

only one problem with going all in and racing.............. One more crash could royally F' his knee up......

now..... if he was MC, and rarely crashed..... maybe he could get away with it..... but he's an alessi...... with an insane father, tons of pressure, and a big X on his back with a line of guys wanting payback on him...

if he was guaranteed to win the championship by riding with a bum knee, sure, go ahead..... but he's not, far from it........ the only smart move is to sit this one out.......

If he does it and wins it........gonna have to give him pretty much legend status.

He's gonna be one helluva tough sumbitch for the internet haters to talk shit on......and that's a fact.

Go Mikey!

I think you guys aren't realizing the amount of trauma to the knee. He got hit hard enough to break his patella... Think about it... what connects to the patella? Patella tendon. What muscles come together to form the patella tendon? The quad group.

I would be surprised if he can move his leg, let alone race moto.

If I am wrong, please correct me. But the more I think about it, the more absurd I think it is.

Maybe his buddy RV motivated him.

I think it's ludicrous and preposterous, but I'm willing to gamble on him if he decides to do it.

He's a modern MX talent with a crazy and Kooky personality.

One thing that occurred to me - Surely he'd need pain meds to ride with that, wouldn't that be prohibited under the AMA's drug policy? I don't know of any strong pain meds that don't contain codiene, and isn't codiene a narcotic? One other thing, codiene decreases a person's ability to absorb oxygen into the blood, which isn't a good thing for an endurance athlete who's trying to perform at high altitudes.

I like the idea of Mike coming back.
However, I do not like the idea of him coming back in pain and on meds and not fully healed.Sometimes that can lead to even more problems.
