Now that the Japanese brands have all "caught up" on the tech? Well, look what's happened to their prices! (You don't EVEN wanna see what people are paying for the R-WE, FE or RE these days...it's INSANE!).
Personally, and I've said this many, many times...
The RM-Z is the single best deal for the average track guy. Most folks are getting a really good deal on them and get them all tricked out for LESS than what most folks are paying for any other bike by the time they get it "out the door". I can see that the MC450F is gonna be like that for the Austrian brands...spend $1,000 on accessories and your still at what the Husky was without all the extras.
Lately, I've watched friends spend $11K out the door for the new Honda. $13K out the door for a new R-Star. They got what they wanted; so, more power to them.
Having owned, ridden or raced them all? The Austrian bikes do have excellent parts right out of the box: Twin Air, Regina, Pankl...etc., etc., etc. ...all the while I did go buy a new Honda for "Off-Road"/Baja...just to keep it fair! By the time I'm done it'll be a $12K 'X'! And it's what I "WANTED".
Recently. I took a '21 RX and turned it onto a "Wannabe R-WE" for a friend for about $12K complete and he's got 2 rear wheels...2 gas tanks...Ti pegs...Full Yosh Ti-Carbon pipe...etc. and he's happy as he can be. So, "to each, his own" as they say. Btw, '21 R's were SUCH A PAIN in the Arse to get & too damn much money...we got a deal on the RX and tricked it out.
I met a rider at Pala that had paid almost $12K OTD for his new R...he wasn't unhappy in the slightest. he loves his new scoot. Again, more power to him!

Target Market = Japanese bike buyer who is somewhat price sensitive.aimed at average rider (95% of buyers), Someone who uses their bike for play riding and MX, someone who doesn't want to pay for things that won't make a difference to them (ie; forged vs. machined clamps). Someone who plans on changing exhaust/wheels/and all the other usual bolts ons anyways so why pay for things you're just going to change)
Why is it good? Adds a bike brand to improve their dealer network. lets say you're a Suzuki dealer and haven't been able to sell an RMZ for the past 3 years, there is already a KTM and Husky dealer nearby - add in a GasGas dealership and you have a competitive machine and a trials lineup.
KTM
Target market = premium buyer, not price sensitive, wants the best available from the manufacturer, doesn't necessarily want to dump $2K into the bike to make it race ready. Push to uber premium customer with factory edition
Husky
Target market= Uber premium, wants the best and wants everyone to visibly see it. easier to ride for shorter riders (10mm lower than KTM), softer suspension settings for lighter or older riders, a bit of exotica with the composite subframe, differentiated from KTM with Magura vs. Brembo components.

Items I changed -
- Gas Tank
- Airbox (airbox is same, but I went from Orange to White/Black like OEM GasGas)
- Swing arm is different, but I stayed with KTM swing arm… I am in the understanding that the KTM one is stiffer.. could be wrong but I have a GasGas and I can’t feel the different from each bike.
- Plastic of course
- I Powdercoated the frame Red, I got the GasGas Color code and did the valve cover on engine and frame.
Everything else was the same!
