Anyone try the low mid pulling power feel map on Yamaha’s website. It’s the first one I think? Says for the 2021.

Yea the Exciting power map. I like it, gives a little more of a snappier feel off bottom still carries well up top. That one and the Keefer free feeling map are my two favorites with the stock ECU.

Also interesting note, tried to swap my 2020 rear wheel on yesterday to run a sand tire, turns out the 2020 brake rotor is a touchy bigger than the 2021 and doesn’t fit in the caliper.

Kind of odd i don't believe they changed the caliper or swingarm. You would think it would still fit.

How about front wheel? They changed front axle size so old wheels wont fit?

That’s what I was 100% expecting. Maybe mine is just some sort of anomaly. Haven’t tried the front wheel yet. The 2020 rotors are different than the 2021. Full details, I used the 2020 wheel and spacers, 2021 axle, blocks and nuts.

If only the disc was changed, the rear calliper bracket would be different to allow for the smaller disc.

But anyway both should work great on this bike, i will go where i have the better deal
Ran it today, it’s heads and shoulder better than any of the Yamatuner app maps. It’s smoother off idle, crisper everywhere, has more power down low and pull way farther up top. Makes 3rd gear much more usable both through corners and running down the next straight.

Gonna get my first ride in on the YZ250F since breaking my arm. It’s a 2020 but I went with a PC pipe and linkage, modded stock airbox, no toil backfire eliminator kit, and obviously my own graphics 👍

$50 EBay master cylinder off a 2015 CRF and my front brake doesn't suck anymore. Solid win.

Ya compared to my 2020 crf250R which you could blow on the brake and it would stop a semi. This is way different you gotta pull quiet a bit (just pushing it around in the garage). Haven’t tried it yet as it’s winter and there is snow here. But it should be fine I think? Seems to have more modulation at least ?

Was yours that bad ?

They’re just squishy AF, I mean it’s stops but there’s no feeling in the lever. My 2020 was the same way.

Ya I did notice that for sure, also you have to pull it harder compared to my Honda to get it to brake the same amount. What year crf250 mc’s work for these and what other parts are needed if I decide to go that route?
I mean it’s probably fine for me as I’m not that fast.
It still has good stoping power tho?
Thanks !

That’s what I tried first; Good Maxima fluid reverse bled through a Galfer SS line. Made little to no change, still extremely spongy.

It’s not going to knock your socks off, but yea it stops. I just wanted more/better feel for it. 2012+ Honda CRF 250/450R master cylinder, banjo bolt and lever is all you need. I installed mine using the OEM length brake line with no issue.

What fuel did you have your vortex mapped for?
I want to send my 2021 vortex box to twisted.
Thanks for the feedback.

Ok so I found one from a 2014. Sorry so you said the stock Yamaha brake line that comes on our bikes fits fine ?

I used a Galfer SS line, it’s the same length as OEM so I assume it will be fine.

One more question. I’m getting the caliper and line all as one is the stock caliper good enough or should I try the 2014 Honda caliper also ? Make it easier to just swap on don’t have to deal with fluid etc. Other then probably a light bleed of it.

Not sure why it’s being said it is super spongey. I’ve had newer Honda’s and Yamahas. Place an oversized rotor floating or non floating on with a SS line and your fine. Besides, you don’t need the strongest brake setup out there. Also IMO the Honda was extremely grabby and not modulated well after installing everything.

To each their own. No point in having a crazy front brake. Besides, that means your usually using them more than necessary. 😁

Never tried swapping the caliper, not really sure.
