Oh ya, my bad. Ya the new airboot looks much more direct too. If you do that and the cover, I'm sure you'll get the 19 flowing.

Point being that MXA said that the 21 comes out of turns harder and wheelies more than the 20.Whereas the 20 is smoother and easier to come out of corners. Vital said the exact opposite. The 20 had so much low-end that it just wanted to wheelie out, while 21 is smoother and did not wheelie, it stayed put. And Swapmoto's test said something similar to Ping.
I have never had a problem on the 20 wheeling out of turns. Maybe the MXA guys are not carrying enough momentum through turns...

I think Keefer's take seems reasonable, in that they gave up a tiny tiny bit on the bottom but a bit on the mid-top. The 20 does just sort of give up and it forces you to shift early.

Keefer also said the bike handles pretty much the same, but is a bit better on lean in. That's the worst aspect of the 20, so I am glad to hear they addressed that.

I still only have 30 hours on my 20, so I am going to wait and see that the 2022 Honda is like and then decide.

Ohhhhhhhh sweet jesus ! I´m on board to buy the same thing for my 2021 YZF too.

I emailed Flavio at CRM but i do hesitate between the Nihilo cover, Slaterskins cover and CRM cover (yours). Anybody out here tried the Nihilo maybe ? It is the one ride by Clubmx.

Can you tell me as soon as possible your first impressions riding that CRM cover airbox ? And what other mods do you have on your bike ?

Thx in advance

The changes makes sense. I would've traded the a bit of the bottom end for more top end on my 2020 YZ250F in a heartbeat!

I'm 5'7 and have been on the 450 for 2 years. The newest generation (2018 450, 2019 250)actually fits shorter riders better. The seat is low, 1.5 inches shorter at the back of the seat compared to my 07 250F. If you get one just move the handlebars to the rear hole with the clamps forward. I've actually had fewer oh shit I stepped in a hole moments since I've had this bike. And don't worry about people saying it's wide, I've never noticed it. These reverse engines are pretty awesome, especially under 1/2 throttle which you'll never see on a dyno.

I'm 5'6" and have a '19 YZ250f. I don't notice the width or size much when riding. I had a '15 and '16 also, with those I would always get bruises on my knees (I know my bad, no knee pads/braces), I believe it was from the frame spars, I don't get that on my '19.

Guy near me has a '20 with 9 hours that is really clean and will sell for $6400, debating between that or the difference in price to get a '21....

Vet A, 25+ B range depending on the day lol
I’m 175# and have an aggressive style so I tend to ride a 125 best. The yz250f felt strong everywhere. I ended up picking up a 2020 for a good deal then broke my arm days later on my 300xcw 😂🤦🏻‍♂️

They are the exact same dimensions. It just is more noticeable on the 450 because of the overall weight and weight placement. The 250F could be a little smaller/sleeker and I wouldn't mind but after you ride it for a while, you don't really notice until you hop on another brand. The same kind of applies to the 450 guys.

I hopped on one at the demos and first thing i noticed was the shrouds were right where my knees go on my yz 250 2s

Yep. Going to a 2stroke you can feel the difference too. But like I said, you get used to it. Maybe the next gen they can figure out a way to make that a little better ergonomically, but also needing the airbox/volume, I can see how it is easier said than done lol.

The width of the YZ250F upper shrouds is mostly noticeable when just sitting on the bike but tends to be much less noticeable once riding. The front upper part of the shrouds (where in intake vents are) are a little wider on the YZ250F compared to the other bikes. The mid section of the YZ250F is relatively thin. The '21 YZ250F is a very fun bike and such broad power for a 250F...

Guys that have them how do you like the bars in the front position, I read they come that way. Or are you moving them to the back holes with the mounts rotated forward like the 2020 model? Thanks

I got to ride a new 2021 YZ250F last week. I liked the bars in the forward position (I am 6'2" and 190 lbs) - opened up the rider triangle. Easy enough to move them back.

How does the 21 YZ250F work? For me the engine is noticeably stronger everywhere (especially up top) with a free and quick revving feel and 250F class leading partial throttle torque feel, suspension is firmer with less chassis pitch and a more controlled setting, the shrouds still feel wide sitting on the bike but not so noticeable while riding, and it still makes lots of noise from the intake and exhaust.

I did post a more detailed review on ThumperTalk if you are interested....https://thumpertalk.com/forums/topic/1351946-2021-yz250f-initial-ride-i…

Will be interesting to hear how the new bike works for magazine guys. It sure is blue!

Let me know when you are ready to sell it!

I like the twin air one because you can easily get down in the airbox and clean it / make sure no dirt fell off your dirty filter when you took it off.

Yup, but as long as you don't open the throttle you can get it out with a vacuum cleaner

Yes, I have a small tube taped to the end of my shopvac hose for this. I have the same concern about the new intake design, as I have the TA Powerflow kit on my 19' and once every few filter changes a spec of dirt drops directly into the venturi.

Does anyone know if the 21' air boot will fit on the 19'-20'? Will there be a performance advantage without having the new head?
I realize new mapping would be required.

1. Can you use new "flat" airfilters with No Toil one if you just use that base piece and put stock cage top of flat filter?

2. Anyone has cut rear number plates like Star Yamaha? I got my boot stuck on side of numberplate and was thinking to cut them.

Nice!, but me being lazy I see alot of filter maintenance.

If you have a stock motor I wonder how much the extra air flow from that translates to HP?

Also with that cover the filter will get dirty quick, does that defeat the airflow benefit?

How do these make any difference then whats in there? do you still use the cover over top the filter or does it just sit in open air and the cage holds filter in place?

Less restrictive air due to the back screen being removed. It had a roughly 1-2 horsepower and is noticeable

1-2 Hp is not far off a realistic gain with the TA filter set up and CRM airbox. I tested them on a 21 a couple of days ago.
